coil overs, camber plates, Koni strut inserts
MikeK280z replied to mom'sZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
What year 280Z? My 76 measures 2.185 on the front strut. Aside from MM and GC, Arizona, Beta, et.al. selling coilover kits, I have not found a supplier that sells just the sleeves or adjuster nuts to fit this diameter. -
Unplug the thermotine switch and clean up the connections as best as you can. Use some Radio Shack Stereo Component cleaner and lube. Make sure it is tight fitting when you replace it. I friend with a '76 had a similar problem, it ended up not being the sensor, but the wiring harness connecting it.

If you're looking for ideas, an epoxy coated floor is a great one. I did my floor last summer and it made a huge difference in everyway: looks better, more durability, less dust on the cars, its not as damp and clean up is a breeze. I can't say the last one enough: Clean up is EASY. Here's a place to get good garage ideas: http://www.garagejunkies.net/index.php?

PickleX? Would you please elaborate? Is this a rust treatment/ inhibitor? Is it available auto stores, or would I have to go to a paint store?

To Powder Coat The Motor Or Not Is The Question?
MikeK280z replied to S30TRBO's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
The color black "transfers" heat more efficiently than other colors. So if the external temperature is higher then an object painted black, the object will absorb heat more efficiently than if painted white. On the other hand if the internal temperature is hotter, then black will radiate more efficient than white. Since the block on a running car has a higher temperature than the ambient air, black will radiate the heat from the block out of the block more efficiently. Realistically, if you compare apples to apples, or a black paint to a white paint, IMHO I don't think the layer of black paint vs. white paint is going to make a significant difference. The same should apply to powder coating; if you can safely powder coat an engine block, the color won't make a dramatic difference. -

Recently I've heard a lot of talk about "Bush reinstating the draft". To my knowledge, that would require legislation that would have to pass both the House and Senate before the President can sign it. Let's take a moment and remember what every Congress person and Senator wants.... to be re-elected. So: a. It's not just George's draft. b. I find this to be highly unlikely. I'll refrain from commenting on the numerous other opinions in this thread.

If you don't know someone personally who is in Iraq or Afghanistan, you probably know someone who does. My thoughts on this topic are to get this person’s address, find out what he/ she needs and mail it directly. I have a friend who was in Afghan, and is now in Iraq. I cannot put into words how much he appreciates getting something from a family, friends or a friend of a friend. Most bulk items are shared with the unit. you would be surprised at they want. While in Afghan, cleaning supplies were desperately needed. These packages were always lined with various magazines, cigars, and other goodies from home. I’m waiting to hear what he really needs at his current set up. A noble and worthy cause.

One option is to replace the shifter with one out of a late 90's Mustang. it will allegedly shift better, and sit the knob back about 2 inches. Here is a link with some info: http://geocities.com/zgarage2001/borg.html

Man arrested for going 140 mph over limit**UPDATED**
MikeK280z replied to Tim240z's topic in Non Tech Board
Here's the article [/url]http://wcco.com/localnews/local_story_265090112.html I don't think those bikes go more than 180 mph stock (1000cc Hondas). Clicking a stop watch twice from an airplane when a vehicle starts and stops a measured quarter mile leaves a lot of room for error, visual and motor. I'm sure this 20 year old kid was flying, but I would be surprised if he was actually hitting 205 MPH for at least 4.39 seconds. Sounds like there's a pilot with 27 years experience who either needs to realize his reaction time isn't what it used to be, or needs to buy a new watch. -
Came across this at work. Its being sold by New York State Office of General Services. Thought someone night be interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2474259720&category=43989

I hope you spun the rotor and painted the area under the caliper. I would hate to see that big of a missed spot. That sort of sloppiness works against you at car shows.

For additional eye protection, the few professional welders that I know wear black or dark colored shirts to minimize reflection under the helmet. Over the length of a career, every little bit helps.

Just saw the "read now or be sorry on Saturday" thread under announcements. That explains it.

I bought the Zeddfindings rails and floors for my 280. Charlie is an honest, knowledgeable man and a pleasure to deal with. He made buying the parts from him easy - no hassles, no BS, quick delivery.
