  1. Even though I am somewhat new here I must say, half of the posts I read start off with a question from a newcomer only to be follwed by a repremand from a guru or other senior member. It seems some members cruise the forum LOOKING to flame someone for posting a question that might be answered using the search function. I know this is off topic but is an example, (to me at least) that many here take themselves waaaay to seriosly. This is a forum based on discussion not a database only used for research. Posting questions that seems dumb to senior members is a chance for newcomers to get to know other members and to decide if they like the overall atmosphere of the site. Back to the subject...skinny chicks are nice...boney chicks are gross....this is NON-TECH... don't like it ........don't look!!
  2. One thing I have learned from being involed here at Hybrid is that if you want to do it it can be done. You will need to fab you own mounts, maybe modify the firewall. It will take alot more time than following the JTR book and ordering prefabbed parts but then you would be the guy others look for to the same question that you have posted. That sounded like something my dad would say to get me to do my homework!!
  3. Ok searched but did not find a definition......... Please educate me if you have the time What is the difference in the two and is there a preference among our friends here at Hybrid. Thanks! Rufus
  4. True...and look nice. But Spinnnnnnnsive!! How much? I did not see a price. Thanks, Rufus
  5. Very nice Tim. I especially like the rear facia. Did you fab that yourself? Are those the original fenders or did you replace them. Very straight! As I have said before you and your car are an inspiration which motivate me to hopefully someday have such a beauty of a ride!!! Keep up the good work!! Rufus
  6. Mike, Have you thought about selling those rims? Rufus
  7. Definatley a smooth look!!! Can't wait to see it with the hood on!!
  8. I wondered about the ones on ebay as well. There are many sites that sell the caps and the prices are way off from each other. It made my think that maybe all dash caps are not created equal? There is the MSA one for pretty cheap, then there are others for up to $135. Anybody have an opinion on which is best? Rufus
  9. How about those headlight buckets? Pretty sweet!!! What are they out of? How hard was the install? Rufus
  10. The pics are in my album..Thanks for the help. Can you use the album to show the pics in your post with or without a link?
  11. I haver a couple of pics of my carb but don't have a web space to post them from. Do you have any suggestions for free hosts?
  12. I was thinking of getting one of those but like I said before I think I would rather save my money for an EFI set up. I do not think my carb has a set screw for overall AFM just the to screws in the front. If I am correct in my thinking those screws only adjust AMF at idle. I notice rich exaust when backing off the throttle, but it is also present most of the time.
  13. Another thing to consider is the head of the bolt. Many times because of corrosion the head expands and might seem like it is bigger than it should be. (no jokes please!! ) What you should do before trying to remove the bolt is put a 6 point NOT 12 POINT socket on the head and work it a little. Take the socket off, wire brush the head (ouch! ) and try the next size down. If it is metric try the next standard size down. If it is standard try the next metric size down. Even if you have to tap it on with a hammer it will grab much better. There is NOTHING worse than a stuck bolt with a stripped head! Good Luck! Rufus
  14. This is what I plan to use in my 280 http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SP
  15. It is an Edlebrock 650. I think it is a performer but I am not sure. I have many hours into adjusting the idle mixture screws and trying differnt timing advances/idle speeds and I think I have it about as good as it will get. As far as tuning I belive that has to do with the size of the primary needle valves which I think are probably too big. But don't you need to know the cam lift/duration to select the correct ones? I purchased the engine and carb used and the previous owner did not know the info. The main reasons I have not torn it apart is it is my daily driver (until it starts snowing) and I would really like to go EFI over the winter. That said I would still be appreciative of the help. I actually started a thread asking for help a while ago http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24262&highlight= Maybe we should talk about it there as to not take over this thread? Don't want to peev the people in charge!! Thanks in advance Rufus
  16. My overbored sbc with 650 cfm drinks like I do. Waaaay too much!!!! I have never bothered to figure it out because life is already depressing enough!!! I know my primarys are too big but since I don't know the cam configuration I have not messed with them. I dream of an LT1/T56 and hope that if I was ever able to come up with the cash it would not only increase milage but also get rid of the rich exaust I breathe every day to and from work. All that said I would not stop using my Z as my daily driver even if I only got 2 mpg!!! The price of gas ...1.75/gal. The price of speeding tickets...still counting Being able to pass whoever / whenever.........PRICELESS!!!
  17. BINGO!! Thats what my car looks like when I jam my 4x12 guitar cabinet in the back !!!
  18. I remember seeing this pic. I think the thread was started by Tomohawk. If not I know he was at least in on the thread. If I remember right the thread did not start out talking about radios but ended up doing so. I hope that helps a little.......probably not though....I will look around as well. Rufus
  19. Wow!!! I like the first pics more than the 350Z!!!!
  20. Can you believe people are actually bidding on that thing?
  21. I understand the concept. I guess I thought you did not know about the different Toy calipers. Toy 4x4 cals will work on a solid rotor and as I said 4runner cals work on 300zx rotors because the opening is at least an inch. I seem to remember that it is almost 1.25 inch. Instead of using washers to center the cal. I split it and ground down the inner parts of the cal to gain more space. Obviously not the face where the fluid passages are but the face where the rotor goes thru. I had thought of using a spacer like you are describing but did not have the tools to build them. How wide of a rotor are you talking about?
  22. If you use '84 4Runner calipers they will fit the Nissan 300zx rotors. I have 15" wheels and that is the swap I did. I had to use a 1/4" wheel spacer though as the caliper rubbed on the inside of the rim. Nice machining work by the way. Is it all CNC?
