See em now!! Thanks Tim!! I will try a newer flash plugin or something for the avatar. I also have trouble seeing things like "big grin", smileys not loaded into the web page. Hmmm...... I wonder if our buddy in IT can help? What about it Aux?
-
Cool....well not cool...but at least I am not the only one!! Your welding looks good jim!! I am doing the same thing myself. What guage of sheet are you using?? Rufus
-
What about simply putting it in one of the tool spaces in the floor behind the seats? You coild drill thru the bottom/side and not have to run any cables thru the compartment? I don't know how big the battery is you are talking about but one of the two could easily be enlarged a little. Just a thought..... : Rufus

Sorry if this is off topic but I cannot view the pics you posted Tim I can't view your Avatar either but on my computer @ home it is no problem. Is it a flash plugin I am missing. Once again sorry, but I figured it would be better to post here with an example rather than in site support due to the fact that it is only certain posts such as this that I cannot view. Thank you for the help!! Rufus

If you use a MSD you may need a Tach Adapter. Check out this page http://www.stockcarproducts.com/acc2a.htm?cf0A01011C=QlVGRkFMT1xSTW9iZXJseTpidmNwc19pbnRlcm5ldF9hY2Nlc3M6oLydIrLOwKtsoIhXRnf2qg== Rufus

I am in compliance with those who are sending the warnings. I thought my car was rusted, and it's only body pieces! The pictures you have posted easily show hours upon hours of work even for an experienced welder. Unless you were concieved in this vehicle it should definetly become a mechanical donor.

If it wasn't for winter I probably would never do the major things I have planned for my car. Snow+Z+homemade pallet burner+instant beer fridge(outside)= hours of enjoyment spent far away from the wife!!!

Thanks Dave!! I have been searching....and searching.... and searching... but I never came across one of your posts regarding subframes. Some info I did find seems to indicate that 280's are much more stucturally sound than 240's. Since this is what I have and since I am not building a super Hp motor as of yet I am going to concentrate on other things for the moment. Thanks for the help guys!!! Rufus

Thank You Denny! Rufus

OK OK...... I guess I am feeling lazy this morning!!!! I was up late pulling my front suspension, and grinding thick layers of bondo off my fenders!! I will see what I can find. Thank you Tim, for reminding me of proper procedure Rufus

What is the proceedure for doing this mod? I am sure it has to do with strengthening the chassis, but where and how do you do it? Thanks, Rufus

Hey Guys, I am diving into my project and getting ready to buy a bunch of parts like suspension, performance, body parts etc. It seems when I decide to get something I find another place offering similar stuff, like VB and J. Cook for instance. I was hoping some of you guys could list some of the places you have had luck with, or places to avoid in purchasing parts. so far my list of options is: MSA Ross C's place (what is the name of the website?) Kaminari VB Reaction Research etc... I actually have a longer list but thought I would pose the question....Where do you guys prefer to do buisness? I am really looking for good aftermarket suspension components, and a nice wide selection of body pieces. Big post ...... Thanks for the help! Rufus
-
Hey where did you get these flares? The Kaminari web site does not list any. What type of Z are you putting them on? Rufus
-
I was going to say trhe same thing!! But it would need to be a BIG leak to hear it with the hood closed. Maybe run a hose from the intake to a butterfly gadget hooked up to a stronger vacum so that it could be activated by.....whoa already too complicated!! By the way ... define BOV please!
-
How about a Carbon Fiber Full Dash Cap? I am getting ready to oerder one and would send it to you. Does anyone think they would sell? Rufus
-
Very little my friend..... I have done a lot of rotten things in my life. Now is the time I try to make up for them by being a good father, and eerrrrrrrr....husband. I used to be a bartender/local rockstar. Now I am a engineer/student/father/slave ...oops I mean husband. Currently my Z is my only side freedom!!

We have to wait a whole year!!?? Bummer!!

Stony, I have wanted to do this exact swap for a while, please keep us posted. What kind of ford did you pull the rear end from? Are you goping to do the modifications to the axles yourself? Rufus
-
33.333 They say it's downhill after 25 but I figure it like this... My boys are almost 3 when they are 18 I will be 48 and my sentence of being married to my wife will be lifted!!! At that point I will be ready for some more 18 type action!!!
-
Thanks Guys, I appreciate the help!! Rufus
-
Thanks for responding to BOTH my posts! I'll try not to do that again.... Anyway what # did you use 1 800 JCR-FAST?
-
I was araid of that Tim in fact I even considered chopping the top if it is too bad for me to repair. As for mods mike my list is long and i really hope i can get it all done before spring. It has a 350 that I am going to pull and check and if ok Iwill reseal it, install a new cam, timing chain, etc.. and if I can afford it install a aftermaket EFI. I wall stick with my T4 or T5 ( not sure which it is) but I am considering putting a Ford 8.8 rear end in it. If not I definatley will put a Quafie in the original. For the body I want to install some flares (metal if possible) an air dam a spoiler etc. I like the VB flares It needs seats, dashcap, and good gages, also some small inteior stuff. Oh yea I want to put AC in it as I can't stand inhaleing exhaust. Big list but it has to be done. I have been asking enough questions so I think it's time to use some of the info I have been provided. I will definately post pics along the way. Rufus
-
Thanks Glenn!! Yea I much prefer metal and was heading that route but most of my previous metal work is with heavy stock building machines. I look forward to getting into this project and doing some shaping of sheet metal. And yes the boys LOVE their (and my) tools!! Rufus
-
I have a couple of posts up about this so I hope I don't cause confusion..... I found the phone # for JCR but I get something called Liegon Messaging. Has anyone ordered from this place before? There are no prices in his catalog. He has a bunch of stuff I would like to get but the catalog seems diecey. Any info on this place would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Rufus

Hey Guys, Since the winter is soon upon me I am begining to do the mods to the car that I have planned. First step Get Rid of Those Hideous Bumpers. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=2375 I am installing a 260 bumper I have for now but might go with a fiberglass one if I can convince my self to spend $140.00 clams plus shipping on a piece of plastic!! The next step is harder and what I could use some input on. I have several spots where rust needs to be removed. The first is on the top of the right fender. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=2372 The other fender has an ugly Glass Patch that needs attention. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=2371 There is also a spot on the piece between the hood and the wind shield. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=2370 The last pic is something that worries me more. It is a soft spot right above the windshield. It appears to have been repaired before. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=2374 So... what do you guys think? Should I buy new parts from VB? Should I patch with metal or glass? What about the roof line? Grind and see what I find? Is there an easy way to strip away paint at these spots to asses the amount of corrosion? And hey if anybody is looking for a couple of boat anchors.....When I took the ugly bumpers off I found that each weigh about 70 lbs a PIECE!! Rufus
