  1. Back into it after having my 911 build video go viral with over 11 million views in the first 5 days. This week it is time to fit some wheel arch flares to my Z. https://youtu.be/wUU_RbKB0B8 Jeff
  2. The shell is really clean. I didn't cut open the frame rails, but I did have a thorough look under neath and it is really clean. I don't believe the removable panels are original to the car. My guess is that they were swapped out from an early car, as their condition doesn't match the shell.
  3. This week I gave paint stripper another go, and it works much better if it there are not 20 layers of paint and bog. The whole car is almost rust free now, just a couple of small bits to go. https://youtu.be/ahWcxJTxH1E
  4. I know the rear hatch has some nasty bog patches on it, so I am not holding my breath. Hopefully I will strip down the body tomorrow, but I am reasonably confident that is pretty good.
  5. This week I have been back at it, cutting rust out of these doors. I am quite happy with how the repairs are coming along, but it is so time consuming. https://youtu.be/y9y4rWSP_OY
  6. I, at least, as someone planning on doing some light porting at home, would love to see these results. Particularly if you can show real flow simulations, and where the real benefits lie.
  7. This week I work away at finishing that terrible door. It is a lot of rust and a lot of work, but I am stubborn enough to keep at it. https://youtu.be/ZvTs-PMZolE
  8. Bog is a good term because you really don't want it. I will still have to use it, but as little as possible
  9. When ever you use an acid based rust converter, wether it is off the shelf, or white vinegar, you need to ensure it is thoroughly cleaned away, no matter what you are topping it with. If the tiniest bit remains, it can cause headaches later.
  10. Haha, bog is what it is called here in Aus'. No idea where it comes from. I assume 'bondo' is or was a brand name of body filler in the US and has just become the term.
  11. I have heard that aircraft paint stripper is the go, but I have not been able to find it here in Aus. The Roloc discs are basically what I have been using and they are great for surface rust.
  12. Haha, but I don't have Rex Hamilton as Abraham Lincoln.
  13. I have also torn my hair out trying to paint strip my car. My garage is too nice to fill up with sand, so I first tried paint stripper. It was mostly a waste of time with the 10 layers of paint on my car. I ended up just using the strip discs on the grinder, and even then my back yard was full of dust. Every method is messy, but I think I will have my next project car dipped. It may cost more and I do love doing everything myself, but I think it is the best method for a car with a lot of rust. I really enjoy making patch repair panels, although I don't like overlapping, as it makes a pocket for rust in the future.
  14. The other issue, is what are they going to do when the fabrication is finished? If they keep adding things like the flip front, they can keep going and going They definitely have inspired my builds.
  15. Those are very interesting. I will have to check them out. 'It may not be perfect, but it's Home Built' Are my 240Z's doors completely rusted out and junk? They have been covered up with a mountain of bog and paint, so this week I strip them down and see if I can save them. https://youtu.be/hBSwD9SqgdU
  16. Thanks mate. Particularly with the house videos, they are definitely not a how to. They are just the dodgy way I do it . Also your building codes in your part of the world more than likely differ a lot from mine.
  17. Thanks mate. The warping is not a big issue. What is really comes down to, is if you put heat into metal, it moves, full stop. It can be managed, and you can minimise it as much as you can, but you may have to just massage it back to where it is suppose to be.
  18. It is home tech at least. I can't guarantee it is the right way, but I get there in the end.
  19. This week I stripped down my P90a head to see what I am working with. I also tackled my most difficult rust repairs to date. https://youtu.be/tl9fe8yd1z8
  20. This week I tear down the bottom end of my L28 and repair some rust holes in my front cowl. https://youtu.be/wzmXpO2KXnM
  21. Thanks mate. It is always interesting to see all of the cars sins laid bare...
  22. This week I tackle stretched sheet metal with the bonnet repairs, and I start pulling apart the engine. Here is the video. https://youtu.be/8A6NoBElz44
  23. This week I have a go at making a stud puller to do some dent repairs and I pull the engine out of the car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04dnCI7cqP0
  24. This week I get into stripping the many many layers and years of paint and bog off of the Z. It is a very slow messy job, but it has to be done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxyZpgYcQ88
