  1. My tranny just blew out and I am in desperate need of a replacement! 280zx turbo t5 is what I need. Please help me out guys, this is my daily. Thanks!
  2. I broke both my t/c rods under normal driving with poly on front and back. I just got both new rods but still am unsure of which side to put the rubber OEM bushing on. I have read that it goes on the nut side and I have also seen that we should put it on the rod side. I'm going to put it on the nut side and drill some holes for the other (poly) side for now because I only have 2 OEM but 4 poly bushings to use. If they break again, I'll just go buy the TTT tension rods.
  3. I vote clear. However, smoked would look good on a black vehicle, I think it might impede your night visibility. It may also provide a cause for police to pull you over as it may be illegal to have "tinted" headlights.
  4. Hmm. I love the side profile but there seems to be something missing. I like it still!
  5. I just cut up one of the heat shield brackets from the engine bay and bolted that on. Just a little massaging with a hammer and a flat surface. I also just threw a penny into the pipe and pinched it off and it works perfect.
  6. I'm pretty sure it is NOT the FICD. I blocked off the AAC and idle went down to 1000. If I pinch off the hose that goes to the valve entering intake runner #4 (VCV?), idle also goes down. I also found out that my AAC is fine (I sucked on the vacuum hose on top and it held for a good minute until I let off). Now, am I dealing with a bad VCM or that runner #4 piece (VCV)?
  7. Ok, So I narrowed it down to a bad AAC or something to do with the A/c high idle circuit. I pinched the big hose going to the AAC and the idle returned to normal! I want to check the A/c vacuum system (which I'm led to believe is the ficd) but I'm not sure if it is on an '82 or where/what it looks like. Can someone point me in the right direction for that? I've tried searching but I can't find a post that tells me a location. Thanks! EDIT: Found service manual and it told me everything I need to know. I'll update as soon as I get this all figured out.
  8. Anybody have suggestions? It sucks for daily driving. Wasting a lot of fuel now and braking has become quite difficult.
  9. I forgot to mention that I also removed the A/C belt, condenser and all the lines. It idles now at 2000 rpm. This is getting nuts! Please, give me some suggestions!
  10. I got one on the way. Thank you though!
  11. I have an '82 280zx turbo basically stock. I have an idle from 1200-1500 rpm on cold or warm starts. It was idling low yesterday at about 600 rpm. The only change I made was the installation of an intercooler and BOV. There are zero vacuum leaks and I tried disconnecting the battery but that did nothing. I did remove the AAC once because I had a problem with the car not starting (didn't have the hose that ran from original J-pipe hooked up). I also tried starting it with the wire that runs to the distributor unplugged (forgot about it) and without the coil wire feeding the distributor (forgot too). I put everything together but now it won't idle any lower. Could this be a faulty AAC? I pushed up on the pin to be sure it wasn't stuck but maybe I broke it while doing so. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
  12. I broke the passenger side tension bar. Anyone have a parts car or a spare bar around? Need ASAP! Thank you!
  13. I got this idea from another forum. Post some pics of your car from when you bought it (or earliest pics) and how it looks now! Here I go Before: After:
  14. Wow. Widebody ZX would be KILLER! If these get produced, goodbye rota wheels!
  15. Glad you had fun! I went to my first event Sunday! I placed pretty well for my first time too, although I did get beat by a completely stock Yaris... Ha! Can't wait until the next event either! We both got bit by the bug, now we're screwed!
  16. Alright. I think what I meant was the trailing arm bushings. I'm not very current with the rear end suspension components. The arm with two bushings toward the front of the vehicle would be the trailing arm, correct? If so, I am guessing this is what needs stiffening/replacement. I will also look into modifying some Z31 subframe bushings and upgrading to a larger anti-roll bar (since I am auto-xing this car).
  17. So I put on the rota rb-r 17x9.5 on the rear of my ZX. I have thoroughly rolled the fenders but I still have rubbing issues. Upon hard accel the passenger side rear wheel moves forward and strikes the leading edge of the fender (see pic). It does not rub anywhere else during squat. I am wondering if this is a cause of old rear control arm bushings. I have new urethane bushings that I didn't install yet. When I replace them, would I have any noticable difference with the wheel moving forward? Would a larger anti-roll bar assist in stopping this issue? Thanks guys!
  18. I've had my 130 speedo pegged at the top of 4th. Went to 5200 rpm in 5th and it no longer wanted to pull (also going uphill). 82 ZX-T 5-speed
  19. I have the same problem. I'll be watching this thread. I have the reverse grind. 2nd has issues going in upon decel. (82 turbo 5 speed. Royal Purple oil.)
  20. WOW! Very Nice! How did you do the black trim?
  21. I suppose you could trim off the tabs on the cap and find a way to get a flatter grease cap then just use some trim adhesive or some epoxy to affix the cap to the wheel. This is probably the route I will be taking.
  22. Whoo Hoo!! Just got everything all installed! These look so much better in person than pictures could ever justify! Tires: Yokohama S.Drive Front: 245/40 17x9 Rear: 255/40 17x9.5 Rolling the fender wasn't too bad but I did slice one tire pretty good. Discount Tire is being very helpful and replacing it for free!
  23. I just got done dealing with Kim. I agree with the rushed emails but the response time is excellent. He called me to confirm payment and shipping address along with a tracking number! Excellent to do business with! I can't wait until Monday! Expected ship date. I'll post some pictures once I get them installed on my ZX!
  24. Yeah, I think a powerstroke is around 1,000 lbs. Wouldn't the cummins be rather tall? I say go for it! You still get to keep the inline 6!
