  1. there is a lake i go camping at in the summer called levitt lake on top of sonora pass that is a very high altitude-terrian looks kind of like that.it is very hard just to move at 10,000 feet.hats off to the seals that are stuck in that s%$t hole.because of extreme updrafts/downdrafts its dangerous to fly in that kind of area.my opinion is to move the friendlys out and nuke the place.then use b52's to spray agent orange on the afgahn's poppy crops.the good ole usa spayed millions of acres of jungle during the vietnam war.problem was the vc were in tunnnels underneath.
  2. i punch marked the flywheel to the crank.i bought a degree wheel and a spark plug hole piston stop tool to install the magnets in the flywheel.the offset is 60 degrees.i like round numbers.the magnets are cherry also-there come in a round aluminum holder with a #8 stud on the back.after finding out i didnt have enough room to mount the magnets with the studs i ground the studs off and drilled holes in the flywheel and countersunk the magnet units into the flywheel.there is a good explanation of pull up resistor wiring and product specs on cherry website.i tested the hall effect with a 9 volt battery and a led before install.car is not running yet but should be soon.only problem with this set up is i dont have another flywheel for the other engine and i will have to calibrate/drill another flywheel for the other engine.but that is in the future-i am going to so what a bone stock 2.8turbo will make with modern efi & intercooler.goal is a stong daily driver with 21st century driveability.
  3. modesto is same as los angeles area.if the car is brought into california it will have to be smogged initially in any county.if car has an engine swap the corner smog stations wont touch it-for any amount of money.i have a smog license.it sucks.car has to go to referee station for swap certification.keep it registered in nevada.
  4. i have a 81 zxt in 77 i am working on.i put a cherry hall effect sensor in the plate between engine & trans and installed magnets in the flywheel.that method seemed to use the least amount of parts.i think xander did this also. the 81 dizzy just distributes the spark.i wanted the install that used the least amount of parts.i only had to drill holes for this.
  5. on my track seat i made some adaptors out of 3" x 1/4 aluminum bar and used the original z seat tracks after i unbolted them from z seat.
  6. some of honda's new 4 stroke off road motorcycles use sohc with 4 valves per cylinder.cam uses buckits/shim on intake and rocker arms on exhaust valves.there are many ways to actuate valves.the future-solonoid actuated valves operated by the efi computor.the will make an engine smooth enough to drive grandma around and still spin to 10000 rpm.
  7. began with getting crappy phone line checked because even my dialup isp wasnt working correctly.i had sbc out and the tech metered the line.then he called cable repair out.they redid thesplices in the box in my lawn.then ordered the dsl.got the neighbor (it tecnician) to get my newer computor towork after i installed a new hard drive(i can change parts in putors but cant make them run).had to hassle with tech line for the dsl because i didnt want to use their install disc -i dont want any extra junk on my hard drive.still doesnt work.noticed old putor running slow.so i ran a cable out the sliding door to the junction box on the side of the house .plugged in dsl router.works now.now i have to deal with the wiring in my house.at least the desk for the computor is against the garage wall and running a new wire for it wont take that long.now i can watch videos at least.
  8. when i read the title of the post i was thinking of something a woman would use while alone in the bath tub.
  9. have old cell phone.cell phone provider has palm pilots with cell phones built in-might get 1.
  10. ever try to open the doors after you cut off the roof?might work on the lambo but not on an american car!except ford crown vic, grand marquis.town car.did it to a 92 firebird-car buckled.
  11. put a torque strap on driver's side-make it out of nylon webbing.factory z mounts arent that bad-they are pretty solid compared to late model car mounts.its better to build a more refined car.but since i used to work as a new car dealer technician i expect my car to operate like a new car.
  12. some people use the n42 head because of smaller combustion chambers.if you build a turbo engine with dished pistons the n42 head would get the cr up a little over 8 instead of 7.5 .
  13. too bad there wasnt some way to email them back with something that really screws up their computor?
  14. the stock 77 z 5spd has a big gap between 2nd & 3rd-you dont notice this unless you get it on a race track.i use a 82 na trans in my 77 with a 3.7 rear.all ratios work better.i dont have a chart handy though.the synchro assemblys are different in early (77) and late (80 up )trans.if you have a 3.7 or 3.9 rear just get a 82 or 83 trans.better 5th and closer ratios.i think the ratios for 77 trans are from a truck.
  15. i am a member of zonc -i never make it to the meetings.my car is inop right now.would of rode my motorcycle to blackhawk but told my old lady i would do something with her that day.looked like a good show.
  16. must have meat or i have no energy.my dad hunts for a hobby but i am not big on that sport.so i came up with a basic law of conservation-if you shoot eat it fresh.or leave it alone so it will reproduce.but dont shoot things to just waste them.
  17. here in central california you dont have much choice for isp's.i am getting tired of dial-up isp.i wont get cable because i dont have cable-i have directv.sbc is offering dsl at $14.95/month.but i did a google search and found a lot of unhappy customers.and i know my phone line sucks because my internet connection slows down every time the wind blows-so if i got sbc dsl it probably wouldnt work correctly.any suggestions?
  18. i have never seen any of those summit type of plastic fuel cells on any cars used for any type of racing in scca.its always fuel-safe or atl.i guess it depends on your budget and intended use of your car.since i have not seen any of the plastic units on scca cars i would wonder why people would think the plastic fuel cells are any better then a oem tank.as long as my 77 z tank is over 1/4 full i have no problem with it on track.if you cut the rear trunk floor to install a cell then the top of the cell is now part of car intereor. would want a real (atl or fuel safe) cell for that application.see scca rule books for correct installation.i just changed the pressure fuel line and added a walbro pump and gm filter with aeroquip pushlok lines .all an6 and 3/8 line.the aeroquip hose slides right on to 77 tank.
  19. those rci fuel cells might not pass tech for any scca events.the atl cells(bucks but the real deal)are plumbed with an fittings for pressure and return.if you pull the sender cover you can drill a 5/16 or 3/8 hole in it and solder a piece of steel line there to put the return line on takes about 10 minutes.
  20. wanted to use this larger bolt on twm throttle body that i got for free years ago with my megasquirt.got a new 240sx tps sensor.i dissassembled the old tp sensor/switch.i ground about 1/8 inch from top of the backing plate after removing all parts.sat new tps sensor on top-lined up mounting holes-drilled and screwed new tp sensor to old backing plate-installed sensor.took about 10 minutes.i hate throwing away stuff i could use -or modify to reuse.
  21. i have a calif smog license.if a ref station passed a car with a jdm engine the guy was real lucky.but once it gets the door frame sticker issued at the ref station its a done deal.you are only supposed to use a same year or newer engine from a cali vehicle .no cali cars had jdm engines.alot of jdm engines dont use egr-that is the giveaway.if the car came to me for a smog test and it had ref swap sticker in the door frame i would smog it as long as everything was hooked up correctly and stuff like egr and tank evap system are functioning.but it would get a very thorough going over.stupid things like k&n breather filters on the valve cover(modified pcv system)or timimg out of spec would get it failed.some of the techs that come out of a certain auto trade school in the bay area arent too bright.i managed a shop in hayward before i had a smog license.there were 2 shops down the street that worked on old rolls royce and lotus.i would have to set the carbs up for the smog tech.he had never seen a weber or su carb.
  22. for some mig weders there is an attachmnet called a spool gun-it holds aluminum wire on a spool in a gun that has a mig nozzle on it.the aluminum wire is too soft to run thru the mig hose.i used 1 on some aluminum diamond plate-it worked good.i am just going to use steel mandrel bends for my ic.
  23. the electronics technology was a little behind in 83-a lot of $10 or $20 toys have bigger processors than a 81-83 zxt ecm has in it.preignition will change from day to day.affected by gasoline and outside air temp-or a lean mixture.
  24. get a 2 post-the 4 post lifts are only good for exhaust work & lube work.where i used to work i used a 9000lb rotary asymetric(so you can open the doors) 2 post.best lift i ever used.i just built some heavy duty jackstands but i dont have a place for a lift at home.
  25. i got a 2' piece from kinsler-i think it was $10 or $12 a foot.2' is perfect for l28.i tried putting 1 hole in for an injector and the finish on the hole sucked.i think i will send it to my machinist.
