  1. check engine light i would guess.i would leave it open circuit for 5 speed.if you ground it it will throw a code because ecm will see vss speeding up when car is supposed to be parked.you could put a switc on the clutch pedal to ground it but this would be overkill.if you have a problem with chevy you will probably get better response it chevy swap forum.

    SDS Gurus - question

i dont have sds but from reading on the website you can adjust the offset angle of magnet on the programmer if you know the angle that you mounted it at.maybe try reading more of owners manual-i am just guessing.the reason they mount it ahead is to give ecm time to fire #1 if you program in a lot of advance.
  3. i have an lti in the garage i put into a 66 nova for a friend.it is not running yet.if you do a lt1 swap get the factory manual from helm to do the wiring if you use oem harness.the harness is massive and if you dont get everything hooked up you will get trouble codes.if you have a obd2 car you will probably need a non obd2 computor.obd2 cars have o2 sensors every where to check cat failure.plus fuel tank pressure sensors.if i was to do an install in my own car with a t56 i would use a sds connected to the gm sensors already on motor.for the price of some harnesses plus a little more you could have less wiring and on the fly programming.
  4. got a new 60-1 turbo form a sand rail supply house.the turbine housing doesnt have a waste gate.i was thinking of building a spacer between turbo & exhaust manifold for a external(turbonetics style) waste gate instead of welding on exhaust manifold.or should i get a waste gate turbine housing ?

    whinning R200

the pinion nut torque is 180ft/lbs.you probably have to tear it down and inspect the bearings.if you have a cheap pick&pull it would probably be better to get another r200.just check drain plug for metal.
  6. mike -same rear calipers i run but with 84 300 zx rear rotors.i can honestly tell you you wont have any problems with rear calipers cause i have had mine on for 30000 miles.pads are cheap and easy to change.i need front brakes like yours-my fronts overheat at the track.have 4 piston toy 4x4 calipers on stock rotors .
  7. let us know about customs-is there any tricks to car importation.when you get it going please post a darius -style video.the part where you floor it at 60mph and it smokes the tires with out touching the clutch.if i had the bucks i would put a 20b twin turbo 3 rotor mazda in my car.i found a place in oregon to get them.
  8. the hammer jockey broke the crank trying to get the pulley off.i wish you luck with your problem.i know in californa a complaint to consummer affairs usually gets handled fast.all i know i that working at a ford dealer when a mercury villager comes in all the techs go on road test for a long time.probably that way at nissan dealer too.
  9. if you wanted to ditch the obd 2 computor & oem car harness gm performance has a off road ecm & harness.part #12480054 ecm-12480055 for harness.the lsi is the only motor used in asa stock cars.the ecm part # is for the asa calibrated ecm.this would make install simple and get rid of anti-theft in original ecm.the asa confiscates the ecm after races and then shuffles the around to make sure cars are the same and there is no maybes like f1 traction control question in mcclaren.
  10. if you read the feburary issue of hot rod they built a 400 dyno hp 350 chevy for not very much money-about $2500.article had source list and parts list and dyno charts.you would have to scrounge up a virgin 350 4 bolt truck block though.
  11. i have found some high tech racing efi units that have data logging and have down load the sample software but that stuff is hard to learn to use.how long of a data stream can you record scottie?when i get my other turbo motor built up i would like to look at some laps at thunderhill-or at least the 4000 ft straight.
  12. you need to get diagram of efi system and ohm meter wires from plug at tps to ecm plug.a sensor like a tps usually has 3 wires -a 5 volt refrence voltage,a ground back to ecm,and a signal return which would be the voltage that changes with gas pedal movement.if you have the pinouts you cam check all wires but its time consuming.if the 5 volt ref gets shorted to ground it kills the engine.what codes are in it?if it has many codes erase them and drive it till it stalls and recheck and repair that code that comes up.see if you can get into nissan factory tecnical service bullitans.i am a tech at a ford dealer and the first thing we do when we have a problem like this is to hit the fordstar computor-there is usually a fix complete with updated part #.some times we have to work on these van at work because they were sold as mercury villagers.
  13. is it cold there?were those new rotors from same batch?all i can think of is to use a torque wrench to install wheels.and torque rotors to hubs.

i have to run the zxt pulley cause the 81 engine needs the toothed wheel to run .plus i have working factory a/c so i need 2 pulley grooves.it gets about 100 degrees in central ca in summer and after working on fords all day i need my a/c.maybe if i worked indoors i could take a 1/2 hour ride with oout a/c.it really comes in handy on 2.5 hour ride home from thunderhill.no problems with balencer at the track.
  15. rear uses 84 300zx rotor -it is not as offset so much around bearing.i got rid of the park brake completely.the brackit bolts on to 3 of the oem backing plate holes.when i installed it i took the bolts out of the backing plate and cut it off with a torch so i didnt have to mess with the wheel bearings.i had the right adaptors for brake lines and i installed at work(i am a tech at a ford dealer).took about an hour for both sides.had to install a bais adjuster put i mounted it on side of trans tunnel by gear shift.the only problem is it squeeks loudly.cost was about $375.no hoses or an fittings though.i have a friend that has a 240z race car that has all dp racing parts on it and rear brakes sqeek too.i REALLY need to upgrade front brakes.just have toyota calipers on stock rotors with porterfield pads on track days.it stops hard but front gets hot.i need an outlaw or willwood set up with coleman 12x1.25 rotors.
  16. while reading a new magazine i picked up i was surfing websites and checked out a website www.dtafast.co.uk -a company that makes pro race level efi system.went on website and found sample windows based tuning program.so i downloaded it to play with.the program was very detailed and graphics were very good .some of you guys that are into computors.this ecm colud be set up for sequential efi, firing staged injectors for a 30 psi turbo engine, controlling boost and a lot more.while i cant afford this thing i like to check this stuff out to try to learn something.i have down loaded other sample efi system software and this was the best.
  17. i think i would weld up some control links to bolt to the 300zx spindle and re-engineer the back of the z-then it would be easier to align and get more adjustment.i would use hiem joints for the links.
  18. i run 4 wheel disc with oem 7/8 master -no problem.the 15/16 z master would reduce leverage but speed up reaction time.a buddies 72 z race car has willwood 4 piston front/2 piston rear set up with zx master and it works good.try the oem master first.
  19. i got some good billit brackits from design products in huntington beach ca.maybe scca mike would like to borrow one to copy.
  20. i have a 94 lt1 hareness on the living room floor .it has MANY wires and i am waiting for a manual from helm to figure them out.in this case i would probably get an sds system and connect it to oem manifold and fuel rails.those aftermarkit harness arent cheap for some of the apps.the painless wireing harness for the car i am working on is $700.
  21. if you have everything run it .if has a juice clutch just make a new clutch hose up and it should work.i am putting an lt1 into a 66 nova for a friend right now.

82 & 83 engines crank pulley has a disk on back of pulleys that was the toothed wheel on81 engines.i know because i have 81 engine in my car and a 82 engine on stand in garage.i was wondering if you could mount the magnets in the disc behind the pulleys on a 82 or 82 zxt crank pulley.you could build a pick up brackit with threaded holes on a/c compressor brackit that originally mounted crank pick up sensor for 81zxt engine.
  23. there is a seal inside drive body that seals shaft from speedo gear.pull the roll pin and the speedo gear from drive body and you will see it.for people that let these things leak it takes out countershaft bearings when trans runs low.
  24. a mustang shifter will work on nissan t5.some day i am going to bolt a world class mustang t5 to a zxt bellhousing to see what needs to be used to make it work.probably a mustang clutc disc under a nissan 240mm pressure plate with the correct pilot bearing.i have a 85 300zxt t5 in garage for sale but i need a l28et bellhousing .the ratio spreads on nissan t5 arent good for road race tracks.i use a 82 zx na trans right now-it works good but i dont drag race.
  25. the it wont fit on my computor so i wont sell it to you deal.if you go on their website and try to find wheels for a z they dont show any.just buy tires from them and dont tell them what you are using them for.arent you using cobra wheels? summit sells them.
