  1. Ouch. No love for the early honda? I love these little cars, and Series 1 sunbeams for some reason. Oh well, guess it takes all kinds
  2. If all this is true then this is an incredible find. Would love to have it parked in my garage. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-Honda-S600-Roadster-/190461549216?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2c58649aa0
  3. I concede, your method is A LOT better.
  4. I'd kill somebody if they puked in my kombi.
  5. I just got done handling my tank. Fortunately my tank was in much better condition. Had it boiled and sealed. Radiator shop put a decent dent in my tank but oh well. I capped off the small vent line next to the fuel sender and ran the 5/8 "burp" tubing up to the filler neck. I figured the gas cap probably doesn't seal that well and any vacuum created by the carb fuel pressures will just draw past the cap. I shouldn't have problems filling with the burp line in place.
  6. I do know mud dobbers but fortunately moved away from that, only dallas interstates and highways for me. Thanks grumpy.
  7. I know that the best option is to run the external trans cooler, but for ease of swap I was thinking of buying one of the +1qt derale pans with the tubes running through the pan to direct airflow. Anyone had any experience with these pans?
  8. You managed to post in the completely wrong forum. You should be posting in the electrical sub-forum not the members projects forum. I hate to say it but if you are unable to locate the flasher on your own or by searching the forum before asking then you probably shouldn't be working on your car. BTW even if this were an appropriate post "flasher" what? Turn signal relay? Turn signal bulb? You're being awfully vague
  9. I personally appreciate the occasional "lugnut to the head." Anybody who plans to stick around and successfully contribute to the sight in the future probably would too. It reminds us that we need to stop and think before we mindlessly post. I know it has been a helpful reminder to me a couple of times.
  10. Most cars I have worked on have an adjusting star to adjust pads in and out. If they are stuck you should still be able to adjust them in away from the drums to free the drum up. Then tear into 'em. Sounds like a perfect opportunity for a brake upgrade.
  11. There are a few people on here who have done similar and posted great photos. If you ssearch radiator support removal and various phrases built around that you'll find info. Blueovalz has very neat setup that I've considered, but mine is straight so why bother. If the frame rails aren't tweaked I'd say cut it off and get original.
  12. I love Z's and you scarab looks to be a nice one, but I am absolutely drooling over the Indian. I love that motorcycle, it has so much character! Welcome to the site.
  13. You've already got my pm. That last post sounds like you're starting a bidding war. If not I misread, if so I'd just as soon order it from JTR, if I wanted to bid I would go to ebay.
  14. sbc doesn't say much. 283, 302, 327, 350, 355, 383 or any combo in between. Anyone who is going to tell you whether you're under carb'd will need to know your CID
  15. I would HIGHLY recommend getting a nearly rust free shell unless you absolutely LOVE body work. Then you get to spend your time and money on suspension and go fast swaps and goodies.
  16. I don't know about everyone else, but I've found that all the really good walkthroughs and such have been stickied or are in the faq forum. I may be a butthole too, but I think that making people do a bit of searching for stuff weeds out some of the individuals that may "clutter" up the board.
  17. Yeah unfortunately some bad timing on that one. Where in Texas are you from?
  18. My suggestion would be to head to the brakes suspension chassis subforum and read up as much as you can on rust repair. Search phrase rust repair in quotations. Also read as much as you can on unibody and chassis stiffness. There are lots of good threads that explain the important structural areas of the datsun unibody, as well as how to reinforce those areas. Looks like you will be doing quite a bit of body repairing. You may want to consider reinforcement during repairs. I hate to tell you but if you have the rust that is visible on the car, you most likely have some very involved rust in other creases and crevices that are going to compromise the safety/integrity of the unibody structure. Not guaranteed mind you, just likely. Welcome to the forum. It is a wealth of information that is invaluable to datsun owners. Keep us updated on any progress you're making by creating a build thread with plenty of photos, we enjoy being part of the build. (That reminds me I need to get some more recent photos up.)
  19. I'll let you know if it's a five piece if that's what you mean. I have yet to find out if the guy will sel it apart from the car.
  20. yeah it does. and some mini-light style wheels. When I go take a look I'll grab pictures of any other mods that are on it. I have this hunch he isn't going to want to part it though.
  21. I actually have not been to the yard yet. The car with the gnose he's trying to sale as a "whole" car for 3k. I'm going this weekend to see what he'll let go of.
  22. This actually has been done on most of the cars that have been heavily modified and reinforced for road race and autcross uses. People brace the rocker area up to the upper frame rail to aid in stiffening unibody. I think jmortenson and bjhines both have good pictures in their galleries depicting it.
  23. Depends really. We don't typically see the "every crevice invading" cancer like you guys do up north, that's for sure.
