  1. Plan on hitting this yard this weekend. Snatching this mirror from this alpine. Plan on asking some questions about a few z's. Check out the wheels on the blue car. Haven't seen many disk wheels.
  2. Yes, integrated as part of the lower front diff mount if I'm correct in what you're talking about.
  3. Sounds like water mixed with rust/corrosion. Not a good sign for the engine and radiator. Not to be discouraging but so far you've got two very big strikes. 1. Quite a bit of rust in areas that are a pain to fix, and 2. Quite of bit of work to the engine(not that bad because you can get pretty good engines on the board for reasonable prices). I hate window seal rust. I've used some metal based fillers in those areas but personally have never had much luck in getting them perfect enough to seal real well. IF you're up for a very big project though I say go for it, bring her back from near death.
  4. I'm thinking if things aren't exactly matching from the side that a set of zg flares would go a long way in making things "flow".
  5. Yeah. I would suggest running a cooler. I doubt you're going to run too cool.
  6. Has anyone tried anything along these lines to fill the holes in rear valance left from bumper shocks on a 280. Measured this morning and the hole is about 2inch by 3 inch. Don't have the dimensions on the mustang parking light setup but it can be had reasonably. Anyone have anything similar?
  7. Saw these wheels on a local car and love em! Anyone know who made 'em?
  8. Oh well so much for that. Thanks for the input there.
  9. Looks like a nice score. Car looks really clean. I looked at an anniversary model 300zx once and LOVED it. The bass shakers in the seats were kind of a nice touch. With some mods and extra power that car would have been a blast. So let the mods begin, and keep us updated!
  10. Sounds like you're going to need a head rebuild. Sounds to me like your valvetrain may have not been put back together right and allowed contact
  11. Personally the porsche 911 is in my top 5 for timeless looks. They've changed a little over the years but still look very similar. I considered buying one jus before I bought, the datsun. Aftermarket parts aren't ridiculous(oem parts are though), and I'm a vw/ferdinand porsche fanatic at heart.
  12. Nice airdam. Saves you from having to buy that. Hope you can weld. It's going to a be a great experience.
  13. I think from what I've read most people swap to 5 lug to open up wheel options. There is a plethora of wheel sizes and styles available in the 5x4.5. I have heard some say that 5 lugs is a little stronger but I don't know how true that is. We have lots of members running 4 lugs without problems so it doesn't seem like that is necessary.
  14. I'm seeing it now. The next "because no one has don it yet" engine swap. 1950's 24 horse aircooled vw engine with magnesium case. All cooling related equipment up front eliminated and replaced by fanshroud and doghouse oil cooler. Talk about engine setback! Of course you're going to have to fab new engine tin to get appropriate airflow around cylinder heads. Boch 001 points style distrubutor with vacuum advance and stiff springs. Definitely unique. I know this is v8 territory, sorry guys couldn't resist. Back to v8's
  15. Not exactly the same, but there was a 83 911 that sold here in the dallas area not long ago that had a chevy 4.3 v6 in it. I think it sold for 11. Very solid car with nice interior and custom engine mount setup that appeared stock. Just as a point of reference. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to porsche engines.
  16. I hope everyone here has heard Jim Gaffigans stand up routine on bacon. If not please indulge. It is pretty funny. Don't personally care for bacon, but it's funny.
  17. Not exactly. The bottom two pics are the s30 crossmember. The 280zx is actually a 3 piece with 2 pieces that bolt inside the tunnel and a third bar that bridges the others.
  18. I searched a couple of phrases without too much luck so I was hoping someone might be able to help. I'm looking for someone that has used the JTR 280zx trans crossmember setup in an s30 instead of the flatbar. Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking the flatbar as I know many use it with great success. I just saw the in tunnel 3 piece zx crossmember and thought I would prefer it if it isn't too much trouble to utilize it instead. Thanks for the help.
  19. I would kill to have a rear suspension setup like this(j/k). Definitely would give an organ I have two of.
  20. Well, I will continue the updates. The tailhousing on the 518 is LONG. The trans overall is 8 inches longer which means a 12 inch driveshaft? The mounting point is roughly 2 inches closer to diff than 700r4. So from bellhousing the mount point is 24" and overall from bellhousing to tailshaft mounting plane is 38". Will keep the updates coming as I find them out.
  21. I'm not sure what happened there but the way his bumper and headlight blew off when the engine fell was incredible.
  22. I didn't know the bumpers fit closer on pre 73. Are you sure that's right?
