  1. That's great news.I didnt know those were 1 1/2 primarys until mas280 told me.I dont feel as bad as I did.I still got rapped though.
  2. Tony...I had the same thought. The reserve was set at 7K.The last bidder was at $5500.It was decent but not enough for me to part with.If it went for 7K I would have sold it.I have looked at tons of 240's in the past 2 months and nothing comes close to this one.I'M BUILDING IT!!! pparaska was right about the rust....I dont want to deal with it.The wires are perfect and uncut unlike most Datsuns.I am having a cage put in next week and to the rotisery right after that for Linex. After I am done with that,it will be going for body and paint.Soon enough it will be a viper stomper .I will be documenting all of the build.
  3. You can buy everything at the same time.Get the harness and just send it to speartech. He will build you a harness that is clean without all the extra crap you dont need. The computer will come with the factory harness when you buy it so dont worry about that.To get the T56 in there, you need to beat your tunnel a little bit, like I need to do to my chicken coop car.Just make sure you buy the motor with the matching computer so you know how many miles are on it.
  4. Yeh, I agree about the syncro sound if its clunking or a grinding while going into second but he said "In General the diff makes some pretty bizarre noises. What's up with that ?" so if it is the diff only... I would still replace it...it's cheaper.
  5. Hey there Brian...Those motor mounts are from a C5 Vette. Thanks for the programs Manuel that you sent me.I ended you sending my complete Camaro harness to speartech to make me a custom harness so I never used it. I should be getting my harness back and day now....John
  6. I am using the stock Datsun crossmember and the motor mount that is under the one I made is from a 65-70 chevy pick-up.Just drops right into place on the Datsun crossmember and is held down buy one stud.I then measured and cut a plate that goes on top of that, then cut a template out of thin cardboard to make the upright plate. It took me a couple hours, was a little time consuming to make it look good. The other side is a little tricky though.I'll be heading back to the shop this weekend to finish the other side. If you slot the crossmember your able to move the motor back and forth depending where you want to place it.
  7. If you decide to get the LS1...get a 01 or newer. They had the best flowing heads if you plan on keeping it stock. At least another 15HP...it all adds up.I bought my car with the LS1 in it.....but I removed it and made new mounds for it because I didnt want to use someone else's design.By looking at the pictures of what your doing to your car.I'm sure you can build your LS1 motor mounts without a manuel. Here is my new motor mount.Cost me $35 in materal or you can spend $$$ on someone else's kit.The tranny mount is even easier then the motor mount.
  8. Yeh,your right about that.....but what realy counts is what your puttin down to the wheels.Crank HP doesnt realy count unless your driven a dyno with wheels .........Like the Z06 Vetts. The say right on the side of the fender(405HP).....That's at the crank not the wheels. At the wheels it's more like 350HP.
  9. Your old Z has 332 HP.....I went t the Dyno recently before I did a few mods. You cant realy compare the both of them. They are totaly different motors.I hope you can squeeze a little more power from that motor.
  10. Yes the 1/2 inch would work for you with no problem.I paid $225+ shipping for it.I will hook you up for $165 + shipping.Let me know if you would like for me to post a picture of it.
  11. Stick with the LS1 motor. You wont regret it.I have a extra LS1 motor mount kit I'll hook you up with if interested.Powercoated and ready for bolt it.It uses the C5 motor mounts.
  12. It's hard to tell what it is without hearing it.Your better off just buying another one cause it would cost more to fix yours
  13. Oh man...you got alot of work ahead of you.I think that was the car i was going to go buy in Milpitas for $195.I thought it was more work then I wanted to deal with.I hope you build it.What kind of motor are you droppin in it?
  14. That sounds like a pretty sweet swap......I didnt plan on getting more make because it is so costly.I payed for designing time and the jig for the mustache bar.I know it would be cheaper for you because he has all the measurements.I would hook you up directly with my builder....I'm not interested in making a profit from this mustache bar.Unless I buy like 30 of them so if your serious just let me know and will forward you his contact info.I will allow for him to use my jig.I have another Mustache bar that I bought from Arizona Z that is billet.I can give you a sweet deal on that if you want and it's for a R230....it's right here in my garage and I never used it.It's 1/2 inch and the one you see in the picture is 3/4.
  15. I forgot what D's time's were at the track.I'm not to sure about other guy on the board that are able to beat him.He blew his motor up on the dyno at about 675HP about 3 1/2 yrs ago and motor was running horrable. Now he has the motor totaly rebuilt and got rid or the charger but has got something else in the works.I cant say or he would be pissed.Traction should not be a problem now........with 315's .......... If there is anybody interested in racing D......Get in line!
  16. Well, I spoke with Darius the other day and car is coming right along. He will be having a segment on the next video "Return of the Z"...Hopefully my car will be done.We will be getting footage of our car at the track and a few other surprises too.I would love to spank him so we will have to see.Darius is a very competitive person and wont accept someone spanken him..I'm sure he has a few tricks up his sleeve.
  17. That's great to hear Joey! Will I be seeing you at the track anytime soon?
  18. Dont even get me started on the Sanderson thing.......I had to pick them up from South SF and then drive back to Walnut Creek to find out they dont fit so now I had to bring them back and forth like 4 or 5 different times cause he kept screwing up,cutting and re-welding the wrong header... .He kept screwing up on my headers. His welds sucked too, leaving splatter from his welds.I brought my headers home and cleaned the welds my self. They looked good on joeys and mas280's.I just got frusterated. He should have payed my gas.You know what they say,you want something done right, do it your self...............If your able to do it....I realy want to know if those headers fit.If they dont,I'll give you a good deal on mine and I know they will fit.
  19. Last night we pulled the motor & tranny.Tonight we got that car on the rotisery,in record time.Total hours for both nights is 4 1/2 hours .....before you know it.....that Datsun will be built.
  20. I dont have a picture of me with my car either so here is a old pictures of the car anyways
  21. Yeh,your right about that. You will ned bigger tires then those 225's.I had 235's on my car and didnt hook up very well from launch.I got the 275's on there now and work a little better.I am running the Nitto Drag Radials.Mike said they sucked for him....I let him use my wheels for the track,he went 3 times this past week.He has a little more power then I do though. In this picture you can see the 225's on my car and the 275's beside them before I installed them.
  22. Yeh,I think that's what I'll do.Only a couple more days to find out if I'm building it or not.It kills me not knowing.I look at that car debating every day.To convert.....or, not to convert.....that is the question.
  23. Man,your so close.A couple 2 or 3 more houre and you'll be ready to drive.I ran the same -6 fuel line on my car...What kind of problems are you having with the braided line?I recently built my line.I wana see that car driven in the next couple weeks.Hit me up about that braided line if you need help.Mike has the same set-up too.
  24. Yeh,I think the guys are right about the HP quote,I am running a stock LS1 with full exaust and have about 340HP.But it's a totaly different motor.I dont think the HP is compareable though. He's probaly feedin ya crap.
  25. I dont know man,I dont think that car will sell for what I will let it go for.I wont let it go for under $6500....To be totaly honest,I dont realy care about the big profit,I will have to spent it either way.I cant find any decent lookin 240Z's around here that are worth building or spending lots of $$$ on or to do my convertion.I see this common $1500 Datsuns, but covered in rust damage or been wrecked.I found a couple for $3000 but they are beat too.Lets say that I sell this car for 5K for example.I will spent at least $3000 on a fair car....maybe.I will need to spent at least 3 to 4K just in body and paint,if there is no rust or damage repair.I payed almost nothing for this car and will spent about 3K on body and paint.I would have a complete rust free 73 240Z with a bad ass paint job for about $3500.If I built another 240,and profited like $1000 or $1500.... I still would have rather built the chick coop Z.All the wiring is perfect and untouched.Other used Datsuns all have hacked harnesses. This one has the stock radio and still works great. When I hooked the jumpers to it the other day,the radio was already on and was on a oldies station...it was like going back in time. I will let the auction ride.I cant wait for it to end though,so I can dive into my project. Sorry guys....some of you might be pissed that I might be converting this car to a V8,but your not pissed enought to buy it from me...Some of you probaly just dont want to buy it because you know I would be making 90% profit from the deal and just burns you up inside knowing that. Dont email me crap like that....I dont care.DONT BUY IT THEN! I dont care either way if it sells on ebay. Two thumbs for the V8 Datsun
