  1. I don't know a whole lot about L6 engines, but your numbers don't sound fitting for an engine that size, the 2.2 4 banger in my Celica made 203HP at 7psi, and I kept it a little rich for safety. As suggested above, you may want to do a compression test and maybe pull your plugs to look for clues. Do you have an AF graph? The other thing that makes me wonder is what sort of tuning was done, you stated 112 octane, which means that the tuning shouldn't be too conservative. Post up your dyno sheet.
  2. A few ideas I've had, Caddillac Diamond white with gunmetal wheels (w/fatty polished lip,) tail panel, bumpers. If you can, some gunmetal overfenders and clear headlight covers. Supra Royal Saphire Pearl (RSP) again gunmetal accents. I'm not a big fan of the orange, it just doesn't do the car justice, it looks too 'synthetic.'
  3. Agreed about the 2+2, but that silver R34 is sweeeet.
  4. I think most of you guys aren't aware that HID's are entirely different from incandescent and halgeon lights. They produce a much whiter, 'cleaner' light, not that ricey APC blue/cool blue/superwhite shit. I've driven a few Lexus IS300's with and without them, and I can attest to the fact that they make a world of difference. And Tomohawk, they actually draw less voltage and use less wattage than the stock incandescent lights. More info, http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html
  5. Blame the 'Import Scene' and those faggy magazines going on about 'Dorifto.' Every dick is looking for a rwd car right now, the price of used AE86 Corollas and clean/straight 240SX's has more than doubled over the past year or so with D1 coming to North America. It was only a matter of time before people started looking towards the original Z cars. The upside is the price of all of your cars is going up, and there is more of an aftermarket.
  6. Majik, I know you know your shit, but so do I and I'm sure I'm right on this one. The past model Soarer (previous to the current SC430 which came with only the 1UZ) came with either a 2JZGE or 1UZ for our market, and a 2JZGE or optional 2JZGTE in Japan. Previous to that the single turbo 1JZ was the top motor, as you said. Toysport even says so http://www.toysport.com/webpages/Projectcars/LexusSC3002JZGTE.htm
  7. Early Soarers has 1JZ's, later ones had 2JZs and 1UZs.
  8. The motor shown in the ebay link isn't a Supra 2JZ, I think it came from a Soarer or an Aristo V300. So you're probably right.
  9. I may be wrong, but that looks like a 1JZ
  10. A bunch of local guys and I have done that a few times, swapping suspension goes from a half day affair to an hour. Motor swaps are much the same, one guy labels the harnesses, another pulls the hood, sombody unbolts the tranny and the things pops out. Then sombody transfers the harness, sombody powerwashes the engine bay, sombody else does the clutch and its all back in and running in a few hours.
  11. Hey man, before you invest in some big heavy-ass subs and an amp, have a look at the BassLink, its a small powered sub that would fit nicely in the 'vette interior http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-gF6GWxmZUpI/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=51000&I=108BASSLIN&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y
  12. Occasionally you come across one that makes you go "daaaaamn.." Sasha Singleton for example. But for the most part, they're the gf's of the guys who own the cars, which is why they all look 14.
  13. nsadhal, just an observation, but you're approaching this project with a Honda attitude (btw, you guys are so spoiled with your lego-like swapability, haha.) You're gonna have to do a bit of research on the way an SBC or Ford are put together, its not quite the same as saying "a B18C5 makes 195HP and costs $3500 and a B16A1 makes 160HP and costs $1500, which is better?" An SBC for example could make anywhere from 140HP to 1200+, it depends on how its built, and I don't mean somthing as simple as whether or not he has Skunk2 cams and bolt ons, but truely hardcore shit, like matching carbs/intakes/cams/headwork/etc. For that reason, I'd say go with an LT1, they've come in Camaros/Firebirds since 93 and I think in 'Vettes since 92, the T56 6-speed is a nice and stout tranny if you upgrade a few little parts and they're good on gas if you don't wring them out on every shift. If you shop around, you can pick one up pretty cheap too. If you don't like 265+ stock HP and gobs of torque, there is a huge aftermarket. Good luck dude.

    Heat soak

Haha, by shimming I meant put a few washers or spacers under the windsheild end of the hood to prop it up so that air can flow through the engine compartment and out near the cowl, sort of a ghetto cowl induction.

    Heat soak

You could try shimming the back of your hood to help dissapate some of the heat. It'll give you a good idea of how badly heat soaked it is.
  16. If you do the Purple, you should also consider Volk SE 37's in bronze with a polished lip.
