  1. This is on the list for tomorrow. Will post results from the suggestions.
  2. Yeah, ditto on skipping the outer rear LCA bushings. That is a terrible job.
  3. That show is crap but still good entertainment. If I didn't like the Thacker and Shine Bonneville roadster so much, I couldn't stand it. They ruined those z-cars like they ruin all the cars on that show. They all look like death traps. I like all the hissy fits they all pitch. I've been known to pitch a fit every now and then, but there's nobody else in my garage at 3am to yell at.
  4. I am 100% poly and I like it. It is not harsh. Metal/delrin bushings rattle-those camber bushings for the rear LCAs will drive you crazy. Camber plates with metal bearings rattle.
  5. Depends on how short you shocks are and how deep the tubes are. Either way its all good cause you are now an expert on making spacers!
  6. Finally figured out why I have trouble deciding between Gun Metal and Hyper Black from looking at photos. I just received four Hyperblack RBs and every wheel is a different color ranging from nearly silver to nearly Gun Metal. Not a single wheel is the same color as its mate! They are to be my autocross wheels so a coating of Porterfield brake dust will probably equalize things a bit so I'm keeping them.
  7. Order from johnc and Betamotorsport.com. His stuff is great every time and he gives great customer support. I've tried a few times to save a few bucks by going to a variety of suppliers but I always wind up losing money because other folks stuff often doesn't work. If you are serious, just one-stop shop with him. He knows his stuff and is competitively priced.
  8. Yeah, that's why I'd better keep it real by staying with just solo events-I hate body work and while I expect Obama's tax hikes to target me directly I'm sure not made of money. I think that is garbage that anybody would push a disposable Mustange into a historic vintage car. I know that is racing, but I'm too romantic to see how anybody would do that. Dirt track is a brawl, I thought roadracing was a little more respectful of the machine.
  9. If there is any way that you can do a coilover conversion, springs for that are $50 each and come in any rate/length you could imagine.
  10. Josey, I just degreased the one you sent me-it really wasn't that dirty. The output shaft seals look good enough, I may not replace them. Next is to do all the wire brushing before doing the work inside of it....I can't remember if I have enough clutches to do the upgrade or not - gotta check my cardboard boxes. If you still have your Chequered Flag companion flanges, can you measure the heighth? I'm thinking about geting the 39 spline variety. I'm wondering if my axle length is gonna have to be different from the companion flanges I got from M2.....back to the damn axles!
  11. Crazy! Thanks for posting that. Loved it. I can't imagine plunging into that dust cloud and just haning on not knowing if the mustang was gonna be stopped on the other side of it....and the braking from 150+ to 45-that has to generate some heat! Did that mustang rub you a little? I'd love to see a list of repairs required after a race like that -and that was short compared to the first video from the splitter. I'll be up late tonight watching these over and over.
  12. Wow. Congratulations. You must be super proud. Loved the video, second best seat on the house.
  13. I'm sorry I was an ass. I must have had too much caffeine. Good luck with it. Why don't you want to use ALL the space inside the wheel well before you spill out? Then you could run 12s with a 4.5 BS and be at about the same point outside the stock fender.
  14. When I lived in at ft ord, there had been a five year drought. One day it started raining and everybody's roof leaked. I've been watching the news with the rain. Stay clear of Santa cruise and the mud slides. Should push some nice sand out at the salinas river mouth to make for some good surfing over the sandbar. Two z-cars: doesn't get any better than that! Sorry you are socked in, but glad you are still alive. We are having an Indian summer here in Alabama. Did some gas tank work and degreased the new R200 from SunnyZ.
  15. Thank you so much! I will use these links and a couple I found to check it this week and report back. Really appreciate it.
  16. Ok. Let us know how it works and where to get one.
  17. Old topic but I still need help and at least this shows I did some searching. I recently drove my LS2/240z across 4 states and had a really aggrevating time with the fuel gauge. It was all over the place, varying like crazy. Sometimes it would say 1/4 tank, then by the time I found a station it was back up to 1/2. I can't ever seem to make the gauge say FULL. Sometimes it would say it was empty, so I'd go to get gas and I could only put a buck's worth of gas in it (at today's prices, that's about a drop). I always fill to the top of the neck about 4 inches below the cap. Next time, it would let me fill 5 bucks, then 3, then 9. The trip was great, except for the constant fear of running out of gas. I thought that I had a venting problem, but I worked today on checking it out. Went to station and filled fuel from a reading of E to 3/4, it was 4.4 gallons. To check to see if it is truly full, I used a siphon T-d into one of the vent hoses with a clamp on all the other vent hoses. I can siphon gas by hooking a siphon pump to the vent hose (which is at the very top of the tank), and the fuel only drops in the fill tube at the rate at which I'm siphoning. I then removed the siphon and hooked my mouth to the siphon hose and when I suck on the hose, the level in the fill tube drops and when I blow on the siphon hose, the level in the fill tube rises and when I stop blowing and let the tube vent, the fuel level in the fill tube drops back down and I can hear gurgling in the vent line. So: I think right now my tank is 100% full and venting properly. Damn gauge is reading 1/2 tank. I replaced my fuel sender with a brand new stock sender recently and my next step is to check the ohms on it from another thread I found. Tony D, you talk about gauge drift. What is that and can I fix it? If the sender has proper resistence, I guess the gauge is next (I hate getting under the dash!!!!!!!!!!!)
  18. I bought one of these from Long Motor company a while back. The rubber was attached to the stainless piece. Only problem was that the stainless piece lacked the curve of the top of the doorskin and wouldn't install (the piece they sold was straight). If you buy just the rubber, how do you attach it to the metal piece? HaaJeHaa, did you get the assembly or just the rubber and attach it to your existing piece of stainless? My doors rattle like crazy, I need to do this this winter, please advise.
  19. Do we need to send an Ambulance? You've gone from daily posts to no activity...can somebody go over to Jim's house and see if his jack collapsed?
  20. I'm interested too, Dans toy and ZFan1. Didn't you say you use a 3600 stall? I've got a T56 and I'm working on my 60' using a 2-step, so I can set my leaving rpm anywhere I want. Seems like a lot of manual guys try to leave at high rpm and snap stuff, so I've been leaving at 2500 and 3500 rpm and doing as well as they are but not breaking. If you are getting such great 60' times with 3600 stall, I wonder if there is really anything to gain by upping the rpm, other than a snapped axle. Your thoughts? I've got nitrous visions dancing around in my head for next summer... If I'm thread jacking, reply back by PM.
  21. How does that C5 pan fall relative to the bottom of the front crossmember? Using JCI mounts?
  22. Wife just paid a "decorator" to decorate the house for Christmas. $300. The house ain't that big. Now I've got to clean up all the wreckage. At least you don't have to sleep with the guy who screwed up your spring seats (and act like you are happy about it). I'd gladly have that $300 back to have somebody sand blast my R200 case! Supposedly there is a recession going on, but I still don't see many shops operating like johnc runs his. I'm wide-open throttle at work and doing as much overtime as I can to be able to afford z-car and Christmas decorating, etc. Rebekah's college tuition is due by the end of the month! Canceling my own doctors appointment in order to get all my patients squared away before the new deductible year-makin hay while the sun is shining!
  23. Yeah, but anybody can go buy a Porsche. Only you and a few others on the planet can build a Datsun to the level you have. I'm torturing myself lately on whether to add nitrous to my car, but I've really enjoyed the fact that I've had NO trouble with it (other than a blown fuse) since I did my Ls swap (excluding a warped flywheel-which was all the driver's -me- fault). I could get faster easily, but at what reliability cost....setting the bar is the hardest thing to do, and you have set the bar VERY high. I wonder what Matt has spent this year on repairs/mods since his car was "completed?" We have a disease. Keep up the good work.
