  1. best looking white Z i've seen in a while, :thumbs up:.
  2. been living in houston my whole life so i know what the heat is like (killer). when it comes to those days that i just can't drive (or can't show up to work/destination sweaty), that's what the friends with the sedans are for! the zx is my moms, and the a/c on that one is getting over-hauled. i guess it'll be mostly a fall, winter, early-spring sort of car. and of course the every now and then cruise-in to the strip and to the domestic meets. thanks, steven m. what do you guys suggest for theft deterrence? hidden switches and what not? i don't want alarms or anything because i'm an anti-electronics sort of guy when it comes to my Z. infact that was my #1 goal when building her. ps. ditching the vortecs and getting some dart iron eagles or something nice. pss. i also have former experience of no a/c in the summer when i had my rx-7, no emissions and i couldn't get her to idle with the a/c on so i never touched the switch.
  3. just wondering how crazy i am to daily drive this everyday to my daily commute to college. early 71' 240z, 10 point cage, no swing outs, no a/c, no radio. rear coilovers, 8 gallon fuel cell, 15x8 with 265 (current) or maybe 275's if i can find some or street slicks, 15x3.5 with 165 radials, 355, vortec head/intake setup with work, 292 cam (hyd. flat tappet), estimated 400rwhp, solid motor and rear end mounts, 3-speed auto, 3.54 gears, and dual 3" exhaust with x-box and glass packs. this isn't a future build, but this is my current build. btw, i'm only 17 about to turn 18 and i haven't bought anything expensive for myself for the past year+, every dime i earn pretty much goes in my Z. did all the work myself except for the motor cradle, cage, and fuel cell (came with the z-shell). btw, i use to scca and hot lap in my FC before i sold it and started this project, so i would think i'm a fairly good driver for this type of setup. thanks, steven m.
  4. while i was reading up, it varies. weird, but from head to head it changes. best bet is to play it safe and get the work done so you can safely run a .480 lift. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/howto/97458/ http://www.2quicknovas.com/vortecheads.html -steven m.
  5. good thing you won mike! i would have came and backed you up.
  6. beautiful zx! gotta love passing up the more "respected" cars around the track.
  7. http://www.tvmadeez.com/ helped me a little when i had a 700r4. i switched to the th350 because it's easier, cheaper to rebuild, you can get a built one for about the same price as a stock 700r4, and i don't need overdrive with 3.54 gears. i also believe a 700r4 will never match up to a th350, besides the overdrive feature, i found mine useless. -steven m.
  8. pretty nice. the guy put lexus badges on his car too.
  9. she's boxed up ready to be shipped, just waiting for a buyer.
  10. http://hybridz.org/nuke/modules.php?op=modload&name=zClassifieds&file=detail&cat=63&de=435 I'm in need of money and it's hard to advertise. I've got a 700r4 driveshaft with r200 yoke, correct length for those using the JTR conversion for sale in the classifieds section for cheap. thanks, steven m. note: mods if this doesn't belong here, please forgive me.
  11. kaminari makes a widebody kit, don't really think r33 tails would go with a zx too well. i had the impression that dorifto just meant drift in japanese. -steven m.
  12. Hi, I'm trying to setup a meet for us Z owners in the Houston area. Please E-mail me if you are interested and I will keep you updated. Thanks, Steven M. sleeper-z@houston.rr.com
  13. as for the post before, the rear diff. of the 240z can be replaced with those of later models. as said you may want to stiffen the chassis with the earlier models. if you are just looking to eat up turbo civics you don't even need a datsun for that. a nice little 5.0 stang can handle that no problem. but if you love datsuns, sbc power, and want to tinker with your car than this is it. please use the search function here, and search around the net for good information on the z's and ask yourself, am i ready? you also have to remember that when building a project that the calculated money that you will spend, will almost be way less than you will need to spend to get a running car. you've also have to figure in what is more available, finding rust free early z's is pretty hard and may cost you. -steven m.
  14. you might want to check your neutral-safety switch if that is properly hooked up, samething happened to me, hear a click but no cranking.
  15. let's all meet up somewhere central! as for the connection, try to visit the local library they usually have fast connections. tjcannon is actually located in houston completing his swap into a z31, i highly recommend PM'ing him. http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=29662&highlight=z31 i can do basic porting and gasket matching, as well as powder coating! anyone here have a welder or a hook up on paint jobs?
  16. half an hour-hour/day if it's something little like sanding 6 hours/day if it's pulling/working/dropping in a motor/trans 10 minutes+/day to stare at my work 24 hours/day to wonder where all my money in my wallet has went!
  17. meet has been cancelled. -steven m.
  18. as stated before, mostly aeshtetic reasons for the tinted headlight cover. nothing more. it has been found that most of the HID knockoffs give a nice color, but dim the light with the tinted bulb. they also have less life trying to up the wattage to get a brighter light. thanks, steven m. i'll probably get whatever i can get that is cheaper 2nd hand as i'm runing out of project money. haha i hate being in this boat.
  19. i was about to refer you to mike(above) but he already posted. if worse comes to worse, take a torch and a maul, and with some well placed hits you should be able to get a little bit more room under there.
  20. i'm running solid motor mounts as well as solid diff. mount. very shaky at idle, and if the doors are open, you can see them vibrate. you can go the easy route and have a weld in cage, and/or you can stitch weld the seams of the body. on my setup i'm not worried about breaking any welds, then again, i'm not using a JTR style setup. -steven m.
  21. i thought i heard these were illegal in texas? anyone know the law on this? i tried to search online, and dot.tx is really hard to find anything. thanks, steven m.
