  1. Don't know about the n/a ZXs, but my '82 ZXT ECU did. I hear the '81 did not, but I'm not sure.
  2. I'm sure lots of people have. If you do, make sure it's not on an F54 with flat top pistons, you may have a higher compression ratio than you intend.
  3. The wrong voltage range would be unlikely. All the narrow band sensors operate in the 0-1 volt range. It would help if you mentioned which car -- some of the Z31 turbos have O2 sensors that will not work with a normal A/F gauge, but all the rest should work. The wiring is critical. If you don't run the ground and return wires right, you will get deflections in the gauge reading when you turn on accessories and such.
  4. That might be pretty cool, but I'm glad I don't live in Calif....
  5. Sounds lik you've disconnected your head temperature sensor. That will cause it to run way rich.
  6. That is completely dependant on the target horsepower. A stock turbo will get you 250 to the wheels. You would be spending a chunk of change to get an atmo motor to that target. Add $1500 to a stock turbo motor (fuel system, hybrid turbo), you can get 300+ hp to the wheels which is prohibitively expensive in an L28 atmo engine. Now you are talking V8 atmo.
  7. I can confirm the service manual, and what was said about the pinion seal. I replaced mine recently - I just retorqued the original nut (I'm cheap) to the factory spec, and the diff is working great. Time will tell I suppose, but I got away with it on my Toyota pickup pinion seal as well, and that was 70k miles ago, more than 3 years.
  8. Nice pic Scotty! And nothing like the voice of experience. My bad..
  9. Typically the stub axle is the part the wheel bolts to. 280Zs have the stronger stubs, 240 and 280zx have the smaller (and weaker) stubs. Nothing at all to do with the size of the diff.
  10. Hahaha, that's a good one! Cooling ring! BTW, I have no idea why that big a$$ thing is on the tail shaft....
  11. Wow, that's nice. Looks like it fits perfectly, like a factory install!
  12. And keep in mind, higher boost levels are not necessarily costing you longevity. If you have correct fuel mixture and timing, and an intercooler, you will be making more power with added reliability - your intake and exhaust temperatures will be cooler than stock; that and keeping your RPMs under control will virtually guarantee a reliable fast ride.
  13. The stock downpipe flow just sucks, that's all there is to it. No other reason - it works fine. A straight-through muffler would be a non-chambered type, like a Dynomax (at least like the Ultraflow unit I am running). Mufflers that don't seem to work well with turbos (or at least don't flow and make lots of noise) are the flowmaster-types with chambers and no baffling instead of straight pipes with holes and baffling material inside.
  14. That ratio will be OK until you start running low 13s. The 3.70 will help getting out of the hole.
  15. There was a thread a month or two back talking about this. It sounded like you had to take the pulse off the ignition transistor that drives the coil, rather than the signal out from the ECU. It does a logic inversion - the ECU drives the transistor low to stop the coil current and produce a spark, rather than the input to the MSD that needs a high signal to fire the spark.
  16. Or just drop it in. I got mine for $150 used, has 125lb compression across all cylinders, virtually no wear. I'm putting 313hp to the wheels.
  17. Yes, they do suck, and usually break off anyway. Me, cheapskate that I am, replaced mine with late 80's Saab connectors from the junkyards (free!). Just clip them off, they are quick disconnect and are working great for me.
  18. I think the ZX wheels are too narrow at 6" width. You need a minimum of 7" of width for that tire I believe.
  19. L28ET motor, pan to valve cover, intake, exhaust, fuel system (injectors, fuel pump). Nothing you are running now is suitable. Depending on your performance goals, the specific parts you need you can identify by doing searches in the turbo/supercharger forum.
  20. Sounds great! I'm looking forward to hearing how it runs without the metered fuel leak.
  21. Very nice time! I hope to join you soon, but I may need to replace my slipping Centerforce clutch...
