The pics are not the best but I don't have a scanner so here they are. This is a stock 2002 Camaro SS LS1 motor with 1 3/4" Sanderson (JTR) Headers and JTR Cold Air intake. No other tuning has been done yet. Top line is Torque and bottom line is HP. 317 HP 365 Torque. They had me guess at the HP and Torque before the runs and I guessed 300HP at 5250rpms and 325 torque at 4000rpms. I was way off on the torque. They are sending me all the data so I can use it to tune it some. Should be able to get 325HP from it. This is a great motor to swap into a Z. I love it.

I drove the Silver Bullet to the Z convention this past week. Over 1000 miles round trip including some really demanding miles on the track at Watkins Glen and on the Autocross. I must say that with the exception of a few minor problems the car performed great! The trip up was good. We did have rain and drizzle for most of the ride up but I managed to get 21 MPG at an average speed of 72MPH with the A/C on. The exhaust is too loud and has a booming effect on your ears with the windows up. I will be adding a resonator soon. The car ran at a steady 195 degrees the entire trip. It did develop an exhaust leak that lead to alot of back firing on deceleration but it didn't seem to hurt the performance too much. The tach was working intermittantly and seemed to be effected by changes in voltage (wiper, turnsignals, A/C, etc.) The gearing is great too. I love the 6 speed. At 100MPH in 6th, the car is taching at 2400RPMs. The 3.54 rear is a good match with the motor and 6 speed but a 3.70 might help acceleration more. Like it needs help. Other than that no complaints. They had a Dyno at the car show and for $75 they would do the set up and 3 pulls. The best pull was the last and the car made, are you ready for this, 317RWHP 365 RW TORQUE This is a stock 2002 LS1 motor with 1 3/4" headers, 2 1/2" dual pipes to a Y pipe to a 3" single the rest of the way back and a cold air intake. No tuning yet either. I am super happy with the swap. The car performed well at Watkins Glen, easily keeping pace with Z32TT's and 350Z's and did well at the autocross too. Still lots of stuff to do to make it the way I want it, but all in all it is better than I could have expected. I received lots of nice compliments on the car from many Z enthusiasts. I took Ken Jones for a ride and after the ride he asked if I wanted to sell it. I consider that a huge compliment. Sorry Ken, not for sale. Well maybe but you could build one cheaper then what it would take to get me to part with it. Most people commented on the super clean install. I kept hearing "It looks like it belongs in there." Thanks to all of you here on the list that helped to make this project a huge success. Now I just have to get it to the drag strip and see what it will do in a straight line!

Help! I Want a new custom license plate for my car
qwik240z replied to qwik240z's topic in Non Tech Board
Thanks for all the great ideas. I am going for the "sleeper" effect. The car looks pretty stock on the outside and I don't want to advertise how fast it goes. Keep the suggestions coming. You can see my current tag in the picture. It confuses some people since there is no space between Datsun and Z. I keep hearing Datsunz not Datsun Z. I was thinking about painting the letter Z in Red to give it separation. I may do that for now. -
Home At Last! Project Silver Bullet LS1 240Z Update
qwik240z replied to qwik240z's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Ok Guys, The car is back home again. I got it back tonight. We were hoping to have the 3 final things fixed before I have to leave for to the Z convention but as usual, Shi#$@!t happens! The speedo, tach and A?C were on the list of 3 and as the saying goes, 2 outa 3 ain't bad. I have working A/C and a working Tach. The A/C is cold but i need to upgrade the fan motor to blow more air. I will get to the JY tomorrow and pick up a Honda blower motor. As for the speedo; After hours of messing with the cable x box we finally figured out that Speartech flashed my computer for an Automatic trans and I later decided to change to the T56. Duh! Of course it isn't working. The VSS signal is totally wrong. We hooked it up to the diagnostic reader and it showed that the VSS signal was reading like 17 mph when the car was in 6th gear at like 2000 rpms. (we had the car on the lift) So for now I will use a dash mounted GPS to tell me how fast I am traveling and when I get back, I will have the computer reflashed for the T56 along with some other performance enhancements. Now I need to spend the weekend cleaning her up and doing all the little stuff to get ready. See you at the Z Convention! -

I am looking for suggestions for a new custom license plate for . I dubbed it the "silver Bullet' but that doesn't fit on a license plate. My state will allow up to seven letters, numbers, symbols, etc. Any cool suggestions?

electroluminescent gauges for 70-78 Z

We had the same company make them for the 510. I got mine about 2 months ago but have not yet installed them. The quality looks great and one of the 510 guys did an article on them in the Dime Quarterly (510 newsletter) See it here: http://www.dimequarterly.tierranet.com/articles/productreviews/SpeedHut_EL_Gauges.shtml -
I had the same motor in my 510. It is the Buick/Olds/Rover 215 CI all aluminum V8. To get 4.9 liters out of it, You start with a Rover 4.0 block machine it to accept a 1964-1967 Buick 300 crank, add pistons and a set of super rare (one year only) 1964 Buick 300 aluminum heads and you get an all aluminum small block that is 4.9 liters. It is about as small as a Buick V6 in physical size and weighs about 100 pounds less than an L6. If anyone wants info, PM me and I can point you in the right direction. You can also check out D & D Fabrication. Dan LaGrou is a buick 215 GURU! http://www.aluminumv8.com Another Rover specialty company is Lanocha Racing: http://www.lanocharacing.com

Thanks. I have gone through 1 1/2 tanks of gas driving it the past week. I have mostly driven it around town but Sunday morning I went for a hwy cruise of about 40 miles each way and Monday evening I did another hwy cruise of about 30 miles each way. All times it has run great. I feel confident that it is road worthy and ready to make the 700 mile round trip to the Z convention. I got all the parts back in time for the convention and the car is currently at the shop again so they can finish up the A/C and all the other stuff. I just hope that the Cable-x box that runs the speedo and the recalibrated tach will work along wil the a/c. If not, I will go anyway and use a friends GPS to keep track of how fast I am going. I will know more tomorrow. here are a few more pics. JCI A/C compressor Aeroquip FPR & Clutch Master Cylinder -

I just figured out how to post pics in the thread. See what a little searching can do -
I've got euro bumpers on my car too. The bumper guard holes are now filled with chromed Carriage bolts that look stock. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3708&cat=500&page=1 Once the picture opens, you can double click on it to blow it up really big and see the details.

Pete, Get off the computer and back out to the garage. You wil never be ready for the convention.lol! Don't worry, I am sure they will only rob you of a few HP. Now I may have a chance to keep up with you. If you need any help, let me know. Hoping you will be on the road in time. Good Luck!

My LS1 240Z is also on the road. I used JCI kit too. If you look at a list member's profile, you can find all posts and threads that member was part of. If you look at mine, I have lots of info on the swap. Good Luck!

I have used a sniping service when I can't be around for the end of the auction. They charge 1% of the winning bid but I have never lost an auction I really wanted while using them (except once. see below). You just need to put in the highest bid amount you are willing to pay and as long as no one bids more you are pretty sure to win. The one I use alows you to decide how many seconds before the auction ends to place your bid. They are only accurate to within a few seconds so make sure you do it for at least 5 seconds or your bid may not get there in time. (Trust me I know) It's an unfair world. These help even things up. Especially if you have dialup.
