  1. Great Link and info. Thanks! I love this list.
  2. My car uses a sanden compressor that I got from Johns Cars with the other LS1 components. He fabricated a nice bracket for it and it fits nice and tight on the drivers side. It car retain the P/S pump if you want it. The entire A/C compressor and bracket were like $400. The bracket is not very complicated looking. I bet you could make one for the LT1 no problem. You can see how low it sits in there too.
  3. If the car is not for drag racing only, don't worry about the weight. Over 400 RWHP is still very fast in a 2900 pound car. How much time will you knock off the 1/4 mile if you reduce the weight by 100 pounds? 1 tenth? Maybe 2 tenths. Enjoy that fast car, Joey. It doesn't matter how much it weighs. Mine weighs 2540 but it's a 240Z. No roll bar. It does have a stereo that probably adds 25-30 pounds. Once I upgrade the brakes and the diff I bet I add 50-75 pounds to it and then the sound proofing will add another 50 pounds but hey, it is a weekend cruiser so it should be comfy, right?
  4. enhanceloans, Thanks for the compliment. There are a few other nice LS1 Z's on this site. Lots of them are very fast in the 1/4 mile. I think Joey hit the high 10's or very low 11's in his with 430RWHP. My motor is stock with 317RWHP. I ran the 1/4 mile once run and couldn't get it to hook up. I was spinning in 1st, 2nd and part of 3rd and only ran a 13.1 If it hooks up it will probably do mid 12's.
  5. Wow Joey! Great numbers. Sounds like dyno tuning really paid off. I need to do that to mine too. Just bolt ons added 100HP over my stock motor. Very impressive!
  6. Man is that sweet! It looks super nice. I remember when I was at that stage with my LS1 swap. I got the new fuel rail covers and popped them on. Gives it that great finishing touch. Seems like it was only yesterday that mine was still on Jackstands. Now I am driving it. Somebody wake my up. It must be a dream. That is how I feel every time I drive mine. You are going to love it. Did Mike say when he thinks it will be done? He did his 240Z LS1 swap in like a weekend and the RX7 swap in like a week so yours should be ready soon.
  7. You will need to read all of the posts for LS1 motors, not just the ones into Z32's. Very few Z32 LS1 swaps compared to S30 swaps. I have heat and A/C. Factory Nissan heat and mixed GM and Nissan A/C. I used the harness from Speartech. The painless harness requires that you use the Computer from a 1998 car. Hydraulic clutch too.
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/Nissan-Skyline-R33-GTS-Locked-Racing-Diff-LSD_W0QQitemZ4596269948QQcategoryZ10402QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Is this an R200? Anyone the ratios? Will it work like the Q45 rear?
  9. The alternator mount looks the same as the one on my LS1. We installed the motor into the car wothout the alternator in place and then bolted the alt in afterwards. The only problem I had was getting the passenger side motor mount to line up. I finally unbolted the drivers side, hooked up the passenger side bolts to the block really loose, lined up the pasenger side and bolted it down tight. Then I wiggled the motor/ trans until I was able to get the drivers side lined up. Anyway. That motor looks so good against the red paint. That thing is going to be so sick when it is done. I am sure that Mike (mas280) is going to do a great job on it. Keep us posted.
  10. Thanks Bartman. Any chance you would want to make another one?
  11. I am looking for info on the front diff mount for the q45 diff install. Anyone out there that has made one willing to make one for me? If not, anyone have any drawings and or pictures of their mount they can share? Thanks!
  12. I hate engine knock. I never tried low octane gas. I always use 93 octane in my LS1 Z. It was recommended by GM for the car it came from so why take chances? If you are building a V8 Z car, don't build it for the fuel it will need to run on.
  13. I did a search and I have read so much info on gas tanks, fuel cells, vent lines, vented caps, non vented caps, surge tanks, etc. My problem is 2 fold. #1: My car suffers from fuel starvation when it is lower then 1/4 tank while driving in a spirited manner (track days, freeway off ramps, mountain roads) I really don't want to add a surge tank. #2: My garage stinks like gas. I have removed the stock evaporator tank and plugged all of the lines except for one. I kept one line at the top and ran it to the filler vent. I have a non-vented stock gas cap. I have not had any problems filling the tank. Solution? I have a gas tank from a 1975 280Z that was fuel injected. I can install this tank but want to know if: #1: Will I still have starvation problems? #2:Will the garage still stink of Gas if I install this tank? This tank has 4 fittings on it. two side by side fittings that I assume are the feed and return lines and a large and small fitting up near the top that I assume are vent lines? Do I need to run a charcoal canister? Can I plug up the small vent line and run the other one to the filler neck vent? I am hoping that this tank will fix both problems and not cause any new ones. Thanks for the help!
  14. I just got some new wheels for my 240Z. They are 16' X 7" Panasports to replace my way too small 14" X 7" Konig Rewinds. I use the car as a weekend cruiser and also attend track days and auto-x's. The car will never be driven in the winter or bad weather and will only see rain if I happen to get caught in it while out for a drive. I would like to buy a set of tires that will be great for the track and the auto-x and still be street legal and not wear out in less then 5,000 miles. If they could last 10,000 miles that would be great. Budget is $600-$700 for a set of 4. Tire size 225-50-16 I have the old style Falken Azenis tires on my Rewinds in size 195-60-14 and have been happy with them. They are too skinny for all of the power of the V8. I would probably buy the new Falken Azenis RT-615 tires but they are not out yet in the size I want. They won't be available until March. What other options should I consider?
  15. It looks like Too Intense Restoration decided to go ahead and make a reproduction tail light lense for the 240Z. It is available in the US spec($285.95) or the Euro spec($295.95). See them on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-US-Spec-Tail-Light-Lens-Set-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ46093QQitemZ4594392572QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-Euro-Tail-Light-Lens-Set-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ46093QQitemZ4594392266QQrdZ1 If someone buys a set, could you please post your opinions and comments on the the fitment and quality for us?
  16. They show up on eBay all the time: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240-260-280-Z-rear-disc-conversion-brackets_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34199QQitemZ4591029532QQrdZ1 This set is from a Hybrid Z member.
  17. I paid $4000 for my LS1 drivetrain in March of 2004. It came out of a 2002 Camaro SS with 20,000 miles. Mine came with an automatic. I think that Fparts has a good reputation. They have been selling these motors for quite some time. IF you want an LS1 go for it.
  18. They are 4x100 bolt pattern so they would need Honda adapters. NIce looking wheels.
  19. Are you building it for the track? Those motors are wind up toys. I drove a 2005 model and they have Zero Torque. No power under 4500 RPMS. It would be a shame to do a swap like that when the SR20DET is available. A guy swapped one into a 510 out in Cali. Looked like a clean swap. All depends on the intended purpose. I'll take mine with a Shiiiit load of torque please.
