  1. from what i have gathered i can do the hall sensor with wheel and coil drive and coild pack for under $200, i havent seen a late model distributer for under $200 If i shave the 81 CAS wheel then i can save another $40 but ill have to shave the wheel which will cost me 2 hours at least... BUT it will be easier to mount and a cleaner install choices
  2. this is kinda what ive been looking for, what other parts do you use besides the hall sensor and trimmed stock81 crank wheel? I have an 81motor as well and want to upgrade to a EDIS, im running megasquirt2 so i know ill need the coil driver kit thanks Matt
  3. Do you have any pics of your install? would love to get an idea of what it looks like Thanks
  4. I bought a 93 Q45 with 150K KMs on it and love the engine. Im thinking of putting it into my Z so i can have a reliable 300hp that starts everytime first try. I see allot of Manual swaps but dont see anyone keeping the automatic trans and putting paddle shifters on it. I think that might be a pretty cool option, and maybe a little less work. Has anyone done this yet? The Q has some real power i can only imagine what that engine would feel like with 1000 less pounds to pull around. Matt
  5. Putting my car away for the winter and got a Q45 for a daily driver now im thinking if i want to part out my car now that ive driven a newer car thats not so loud "on the inside" i have many good parts that i just bought Like 17" RB-Rs with 245front 275 rear kumo XS and 300zx CLSD megasquirt and spark and the list goes on I almost created what i thought was my dream car but this winter i may dismantle it I was going to put a feeler up in the for sale section but i cant post for some reason Matt
  6. i drove with a bad bearing and fixed it, now that im up grading disks i noticed the hubs are a little out of round from over heating anyone have some spares kicking around i might have something you need as well Matt
  7. So my basic question Pros and cons of using a stock N/A cam in a turbo motor Pro, More RPM's thanks Matt
  8. im running about 8 or 9 psi now i think about 220 to the wheel, im looking for a smoother power delivery and a little more revs my power window is too small now its like an on/off switch about 3000-5000rpm it makes great power then hits a wall. Id like to have 300@ the wheel i have all the parts so its not much more effort to put it all together just want to figure out if that cam would make the engine behave like i want i have 340cc injectors so 300-320 should be my target power and still be safe Thanks Matt
  9. Well the time has come to do a head gasket since it weeps a little oil and to get all the other oil leaks taken care of. I have an 78 l28 n/a that i look out of the car and was thinking about putting the cam into my 81 L28T engine I am running the stock turbo for now, but have a megasquirt & spark, bigger injectors and a FMIC im looking for a little more out of this set up, would the n/a cam be a step in the right direction? I am going to do some autoXing and some track events as well as daily driving thanks Matt
  10. haha sorry about the large pic Im thinking of painting the calipers "grabber green" to help them stand out anyone paint these before?
  11. got my brakes today! so excited to put them on, should have my car together before the end of april EDITED: Please re size pic and re post.
  12. i run the cosmo coil-overs had them for a few years now and they seam to work well I got the "heavy duty" kit it is pretty stiff but i am running tokico 5ways as well I think the sleeves are aluminium so you can not weld them to the strut. I think they are good value for the money, may be a little on the stiff side but other then that im happy with them Matt
  13. i used my other e-mail to contact him and got a response right away... should have my stuff sent out monday excited to have some real brakes on my Z
  14. he was fast at first but now not so much, i need to do my rear bearings so would love to get the rear brakes on so i dont have to take apart the rear hub twice..
  15. Im not sure if anyone has weighed these wheels but i put them on my shipping scale at work when they came in. they are both 20lbs 17x9 and 17x9.5 I also picked up a set of Kumho ecsta xs tires 245 45 17 and 275 40 17 they weighed in at 26lbs and 29 lbs respectively. The wheels came in very fast once i made the payment maybe a week, same with the tires "tirerack" wish i could say the same with the rest of my parts.... Matt
  16. Anyone heard from Dave at arizona z car? I was in contact with him but then he disappeared, its been over a week since he replied. Does anyone have an extra set of his willwood racing brakes kicking around? Id really like a set asap Matt
  17. well i got it all done, with a a lot of heat and a little welding and some drilling she is all sealed up again on my 280 after heating and "bending" the holes seemed a little off still so i drilled out the three hole where the center two cylinders are that gave me more wiggle room and "sealed" the deal
  18. Well i got the Jog started, here are some pics. Ill have to brace it up so it does not bend the plate when i put the screws to it. A little more fab work then i can test it out Im going to bolt down the middle two cylinders then heat the balls off the ends, im hoping to bend down the ends to line the exauste ports up again.
  19. I have been thinking about making a jig for my manifold and heating it up bending it back and bolting it down. let it cool then it should be good to go again. Sounds easy but it might turn into a nightmare. Im back home in a few weeks, might just drop the N/A back in for the winter while i sort out the turbo engine.
  20. I have a 81 turbo motor with the stock turbo manifold. It was starting to leak allot so i figured it was time for a new gasket. Everything was straight forward and lokoed fine until i put it back on the head. The bolt holes seemed a little off but i got it to fit. On start up i was hoping i would have the sweet purrrr that i have missed for a month now with the leak but no the #6 port on the manifold was leaking on the underside so it has bent up a fair bit to be misaligned. I put header wrap on the manifold and drove it for a year. could that have kept to much heat in it and curved up the back port a little? Their is not much i can do about it now because im going to Japan soon just wondering if anyone had a similer experience. thanks Matt
  21. I am autoxing this weekend it will prob be raining im going to check this left foot braking out. Of all my car nerdery why didnt i think of this already? haha I think it might help in the wet when a slight correction is more pronounced and smoothness is the key Matt
  22. is the diode that little silver can? i replaced it a while ago maybe a year its been doing it the last month or so ill check it out, i have a couple extra ones i think kicking around. sometimes it works but its rare maybe 1 out of 20
  23. I have been having this problem with my car that i cant stand anymore when i turn the key off the engine keeps running, everything else goes out but the engine. i have been stalling it out to stop it and im sure that's not a good thing to do for too long im sure its been disused but the search is not working right now thanks Matt
