  1. so what kind of glue and magnets and what kind of sensor do u use? ill be upgrading to a better system when i get the bugs out of this one i have a feeling my injectors are giving me the trouble since some of my spark plugs are clean and dry and just a couple others are black maybe i got 4 injectors out or 3 and one kinda out im cleaning them right now they all seam to flow when i push the needle in, im going to reinstall them and see what happens next post.....1 hour... ha
  2. how can i test that ms cas on the pully is working right and picking up at the right signal?

  4. on the relay board there are 4 outputs the first 2 for 123 and the 2nd 2 for 456 i have one on the first 3 injectors hooked up ti the first slot i have the last 3 hooked up to the 3rd slot on the board what im thinking it hooking up the first 3 injectors on the first 2 slots and the last 3 injectors to the next two thats how its done on the diagram on the DIY site i forget who drew it, but im going to give it a shot ive messed with my timing all i can i think its sometihng with the injectors now could i have burnt out my injectors some how when i loaded the wrong code and ran it for a bit (had to get home)
  5. on the relay board it looks like i only used 2 injector ports on the - side on the wirering diagram it say to use 2 on each bank 2 for 1,2,3 and 2 for 4,5,6. can this be giving me trouble now and the injectors are not getting enough volts? im going to wire it up after work and see if it works better
  6. ok so if the VB921 is damaged it would not do anything? like no spark at all? i guess that would be "good" since i can start looking else where like the injectors, it would be hard to get it to idle since its running so rough but im sure i could figure something out. ill be doing so more test tonite to see if i can track it down my wires are in the right order ill check my injectors check my crank timing and see what i got
  7. ok i loaded the msq from my dads computer the one the made my car run and drive ok in the first place looks like something is messed up it ran allot better BUT it still feels like its running on 3 or 4 cylinders and is pretty ruff so i guess the next step is to hook up a hei to trigger the ignition. can i do that with a burnt VB921 coil driver? just switch the ignition to the fidle output ?
  8. im running the 81 cas and the msq that worked the first time is on the other side of town so ima pick up my dads computer and take it to my house hope that gets me started...
  9. this thing does not want to work everything looks like it works but the spark is not there i messed with the spark i every way to get it to work but all i can get is running on like 3 cylinders and now i cant even get that i dont know what to do i think im lost i pretty much have metros msq as a starting point the one in mobys sticky this msq worked the first time i started the car but then i loaded it again from a different computer and it got all messed up..... did i damage something when i did that? ever since then it wont run should i unhook my ms from my car and take it to my dads computer where i have the orginal msq that worked?.... i just want to drive the car ive always talked about haha the 350z killer ... i might unhook my ms from my car and take it to my dads tomorrow its just might be crazy enough to work.......... man this is fun still kinda pissed

    ok i did some testing and reviewing of my msq my tach signal is giving out .01-.02 volts and the resisted 12v switch power to the tach signal is 1.5v so everything is working... i put a new resistor on just for fun the one thing i found that i didnt have befor was the TPS value for flood clear(raw) on my msq it was blank so i put in 216 that seamed to get me some spark but it still didnt run for spark settings on the trigger angle i think i have 56 and the trigger addition at +45 thats the only way i can get it to sputter haha i have my timing light on the #1 and i watch that to see if its sparking and this is the only way i can get it consistently to spark but i have not gone higher like 90s or 100 trigger angle but im not sure what good that will do im happy now that i can get this think to kinda work because it was not working at all before no spark or fuel but now im getting a little of both i think i may be getting enough spark but not enough fuel now not sure how to get it all synced up i took a data log of the last time i tried to start it but i cant upload it on here any ideas on how to troubleshoot this badboy?

    i have it all wired up through the relay board like the diy site http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_articles/how_to_megasquirt_your_280zx_turbo.htm the resistor is 12v switch power to the dizzys green and black wire the car would sputter at about 500rpm so i did a datalog so matt cramer at diy could take a look he siad everything looked good but there was a tach spike, and maybe i should put a resistor on the tach signal wire ive been on vacation so havent had to much time to try anything i was just wondering if it could be a bad resistor now and no power is getting to the green and black dizzy wire? do resistors go bad? it kind of had spark for a while and sputtered at about 500 rpm but now it doesnt do anything

    ok i had a chance to move the cas but it did nothing i have no spark at all now it wont even sputter..... did i blow my coil some how? can the CAS on the pulley go bad? it seamed to be working fine intill it stopped working haha kind of running out of ideas .....

    i think the 1k is inline with the 12v switched power to the MS i think for the coil trigger like the manual says im using the 81 l28t crank sensor on the front pulley i was just on vacation and i remember i adjusted the cas befor i reloaded a new program after it stopped working im going to try putting it back tonite since i just got back now maybe i put it too far out of range

    i did a datalog and sent it to matt cramer at diy he siad he sees a tach spike and maybe try a 1k resistor now everything on my setup seams fine but it wont fire has anyone else had this problem or something close? i did run for a while but now it wont...
  15. ok i got it talking to my computer now i borrowed my buddys laptop so much better but now it wont run or do anything i loaded metros msq but it doesnt seam to be working anymore does anyone have a msq with msns-e my set-up is as follows 240sx TB stock injectors 81 cas l28t stock turbo 3inch exaust knockoff greddy bov so a pretty stock setup
  16. it was working and talking to my computer but now its not the serial port in my desktop still works i tested something else in it so it has sometihng to do with the megatune or in the megasquirt ecu itself ive reloaded megatune a couple times ill prob do it again and try it again but its sucks lugging my desk top down to my car anyone have a simple fix hahaha thnks Matt
  17. i have a cradle for the palm im just going to run that prob tape it down to it so it doesnt move around. the wide band is new so it should be fine, i think it was the wrong wire but i didnt have a chance to check it again since one of my fuel injectors was leaking... ill try it again today after work when i put a new hose on that injector.
  18. got the decel turning off problem fixed yesterday got my tach working but my wide band is not reading right when i start up it says 14.7 but then when it starts reading it reads 4.8 i figured it might be the wrong lead off the LC-1 so i swapped them but by then i unhooked the computer so didnt get a chance to see if it worked one of my injector hoses started to leak so i couldnt tune anymore im going to use my palm today and see how that works need to pick up an adapter for the serial port then ill plug it in is one of the outputs on the LC1 for narrow band and the other for wideband? or is there something im missing for the tuning on MS oh yeah and the timing reads like 20 deg advaced when idle and jumps up to like 40 when i rev it... is that good? or normal?
  19. can you run this program on a palm? if not ill have to run it on my desk top and get a power inverter so i can drive with the computer hooked up hehe i want to get my car all dialed in for smog check wish i had a laptop
  20. thanks allot guys ill try all that today after work i dont have a idle air controller i took everything off the engine just a throttle body to controll air i think i put the blue wire to the positive side oops hehe well im going to be late for work if i dont get on my 929 and rip outa here have a good day everyone Matt
  21. ok i got all the wires away made sure it did not leak anything took her for the first MS drive down my street first off i cant rev it out since my tach dose not work hehe so i prob reved it to like 4k rpm for those who dont know thins is my set-up stock 81 l28T with the crank sensor on the front pully 240sx throttle body stock fuel injectors 3 inch Down pipe amd exaust on the stock T3 turbo MS controlling spark and fuel metros MSQ wow as soon as it makes boost about (8psi) it sounds like a jet engine wow its loud i have a ebay greedy knock off BOV and it sounds pretty cool 2 im in love all over again so the only problem i have is when i rev the car sometimes it shuts off unless i touch the throttle a little bit befor it dies i figure its sometihng with the TPS but i havent had a chance to put a computer on it and see what its doing anyone have any ideas? other than that it seams to be running good also i have a wideband hooked up and was wondering what i should be shooting for to get this thing to pass smog? im going to put a permit on it for the weekend and get this bad boy on the road, is a leaner mixture better or should i be going for stoich? or maybe just shy..i know if i get it close it will be a hell of allot better then the stock system oh yeah and how do i get my tach back? should i just hook the 2 wires that were on the coil in the first place or will that mess up my MS ? i know one is power and im not to keen on putting that on since the ms is controlling the spark and OH YEAH hehe when i start the car and the ms is kicking the coil it seams to slow the starter allot and its a little rough about it, is that normal? thanks allot guys pics are comming soon as i clean it all up MAtt
  22. i got an old palm but i think ima keep a look out for a cheep laptop the palm seams cheesy but im going to try it and see how it goes so excited to drive this monster i made oh yeah my tach dont work haha cut to many wires out hehe
  23. i got my megasquirt and spark running rebuilt my exaust...it was hanging to low befor and tied up all my loose ends... almost i loaded metros msq and it is really close i havent had a chance to hook a computer up to it but it idles pretty good and revs strong, even did a burnout in my garage to see if it made power and it does the only things that dont seem right is when starting it seems to crank normaly untill the ms tells the coil to fire(i think) then its like this surge is taken away from the starter... and it struggles when the coil is getting power then fires up and when i rev it and let off the gas it will die unless i give the throttle a little touch these are prob minor fixes and ill have a chance to hook my desktop up to it again on monday so ill be udjusting things then so excited to drive this beast it feels really powerfull thanks for everything hybriderZ i wouldnt have gotten this far without you Matt
  24. my mistake was i wired the wrong resistor into my 12V switch power after i put the right one in it fired right up id do it like it says im not sure why but its there for a reason and it takes no time or money to install it..
