  1. I'm ordering a set of these wheels this coming week as a spair set to mount with some intermediate tires for wet/cooler weather... I plan to order a set of Kodiaks from John in February... Mike
  2. Well that was not the case in this particular instance. The Admins over at Zcar.com banned him and sent me an apology. Derek is a top notch guy and supports our effort in this testing... The individual in question eventually did apologize for his actions after I sent him the note from Zcar.com. He'd thought I had a hand in his banning, which was not the case... Mike
  3. We're officially at $2075. The last two donations, Jon M's and Ken Jones' (I bought the showcars Gnose from ken and he generously donated $100 from that sale.) put us there. BJ has to pre-pay half the $3500 deposit to get on the books. So we're gonna spend some of this money to lock in the date, which has now slipped to January because of the facility schedule. They're booking fast guys, so we have to ge on their schedule so we can make this happen. To do that, I'm sending BJ $1500 towards the deposit. No turning back now! Mike
  4. When mounting the GC plates UNDER the strut tower, did you guys trim the plate itself? The way those look in the pics mounted under the tower, it looks like you shaved off the shoulders to make it fit... I'm thinking about doing this very thing on mine since I already opened up the tower and otherwise I'd have to mount it on top and reinforce the area... Ideas? Mike
  5. I'll get with Dan and see what we can do to add a different donation bar for the Aerodynamics testing... Give me a day or two... Got several balls in the air... As to the Date, I"m not sure if BJ has nailed that down yet. Although I do know that Ken Jones will be documenting this event for Nissan Sport. Mike
  6. Maaco has access to the same catalogs and products as most shops... I'd caution against maaco, only because they charge for everything ala-cart. You want them to fix a small door ding? That's an extra $75 per ding. You want them to remove the trim? That's extra. You want them to paint the door/trunk/underhood jambs? That'll cost you bigtime. My wife fell for it when she got our youngest stepson's first honda painted and she walked out with a $900 bill and a mess for a car... Of course my youngest thought it looked cool, but hey what do I know? Mike
  7. Nope. He hasn't brought it by yet to ride... He's also got a KTM 560 Supermoto... He corrected me today and told me it's a KTM 400...It's got about $800 in suspension upgrades and I think he bought it for about $3500. Rode the Yamaha this evening again for about half an hour... It's punishing the hell out of me in my tight and twisty woods trail... Throwing it around is truly Work. Mike
  8. Mine is actually dupont And it was out of the Dodge colors catelog. But your pics show exactly how mine looks in daylight! I've got about $3000 in body, paint, and a bunch of fabrication work, plus a set of Jamie's aluminum five lug hubs. I came out on the cheap end of things, but this was Jamie's first car ever to paint. He did a kickass job in my opinion! Mike
  9. Well I rode it for the first time yesterday for about an hour... I'm sore all over today.. That thing is a BEAST and a bit heavier than I'd expected... manhandling it takes a fair amount of Umph! Fortunately no crashes to report! Mike
  10. Jersey, Doug Carrow (Synlubes) gave me that spoiler when I bought his car trailer from him. I've also got an IMSA 3 piece spoiler I've not mounted... J. Jamie Did paint the car for me, did the welding of the radiator support, and he did the smoothing of the door locks, the marker light fill-ins,vents, radio hole, and the fuel filler... Sorry about the pics size... You can see them at photobucket. search for Mikelly_2006. 240ZTT, I'll have another shindig in Spring. I'm about an hour and thirty minutes from MIR. Mike
  11. I'll eventually take pics of the suspension and brake work once the camber plate install is complete on the front and the brake lines are plumbed... Mike
  12. Having a steep transition from the floorboard to the firewall doesn't hurt either! Seriously, those WRX STis are nice cars... I'm even thinking about one as a potential daily driver come spring! Mike
  13. ...Actually Santa (ME) wheeled and dealed on his CRF 150 minimoto and sold it for what he paid for it, and bought his business partner's Yamaha WR250 for $2200. He upgraded to a 2004 KTM450 with a bunch of boltons... Barry is racing this year in the Pikes Peak race in July. I think he is NUTTS!! I'll have it tomorrow and snap some photos for you all... I'll even "try" to post them here instead of my yahoo account. Mike
  14. ...This was coming... I'd had a buyer supposedly interested in the car. So I had a pre-purchase inspection done and was expecting it to be gone by the end of November. They buyer, A dealership in Calgary, Canada finally got back to me and told me they were holding off... Great... So the car is on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280061317392&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:MT:31 If it doesn't sell on ebay, it'll go to the local CARMAX or BMW dealership... It's a 10 day auction. My goal is to have this car gone by early January. Goal is to get it gone, Payoff my truck, and wait to see what's on the market come February. I may buy something super sexy. Might just buy nothing at all and sit tight and pay down the mortgage. We'll see... Somebody Buy this thing already! Mike
  15. My oldest stepson informed us yesterday that he's selling his RB25. I have no idea what's up, or if he has just gotten fed up with it or the lack of support, but this JUST CAME together...He just sold eht 240SX chassis and all the parts and is gonna put the RB25 on ebay. This is kind of a let down to me, because I was hoping he'd finish it and have a very unique ride... Expect to see yet another RB25 w/tranny and parts on ebay soon... I just bought him those new bearings for crimmus too! Mike
  16. I'd be careful about who you get good info from on LS1Tech.com... some of those guys are the best and most knowledgable (Look for Milkman, He's by far the best when it comes to LS1 info and was the guy that did the tuning on my vette and will tune the holley system in my Z - His name is Jeff Creech). Others are not so knowledgable and pass on tons of bad info. The guys in the roadrace section of Corvetteforum are much more consistant with their info, which is why I gave up on LS1Tech.com. And I've got jeff's shop, cell and home numbers, so I just ring him when I need guidance on something LS1 related. To me, and this is JUST my opinion, but to me, oil getting into the intake runners and getting anywhere near the fuel or sparkplugs is a bad thing. That's just me. Now, I'm just one guy, and many other folks may have different experiences, and maybe at the drag strip it isn't as bit a deal, but at EVERY SINGLE road course event I've been to, the LS1/6/2 guys have had oil DRIPPING OUT OF the throttle body by the afternoon sessions every day. Some guys have installed catch cans with steel wool inside them to assist in soaking the oil up, and they just drain them between runs. But when you see these guys draing well over a couple ounces of oil in between runs, it makes you wonder how much is getting into the combustion chamber... BUt that's just me... Mike
  17. I guess it boils down to what you want to do with the car... If you're drag racing then that 1100HP sounds real good. If you plan to roadcourse that thing, You'll not use more than 450-500 HP at the max. Every High HP supra or other modded car Ive seen go to track days has to dial back the boost just to get around the track without suffering traction... Mike
  18. NEW2TheZ06, you might want to post over in the Chevy V8 section instead. That's not a bad price and with the Johns cars mounts, installing it won't be that hard... Just understand that you'll need specific exhaust manifolds, a ned custom drive shaft and exhaust system, and you'll also need to re-route the air filter system and te-do your radiator and fan cooling... Mike
  19. Doug, You ever decide to sell that car, LET ME KNOW! GORGIOUS! Oh, And more specs and more pics PLEASE! Mike
