Neither of those... I'd look into a minimum of a single stage oil fed unit made by Ingersol Rand. I had a Craftsman compressor and they are so darned LOUD that they really do take the joy out of working around them... I'm now relegated back to using a pancake compressor (think nail gun type here) that I bought to get me by while I await the electrical power service hookup to my new meterbase and power panel for the existing garage. The noise of this little sucker is killing me... I SOOOOO miss my big 60 gallon Ingersol that's sitting in the corner without 220 power hookup!!! Don't know if you have a Tracter Supply Center out your way, but if you do, check with them on the units they carry... I know IR sells a nice 30 gallon rollaround unit, but I would opt for something in the 60-90 gallon oil fed single to dual stage 220 powered type units. They last many years longer, are quieter, and will power most anything you want to do with it... Mike

Fact is that the LS1 motor sits lower, further back in the engine bay and makes very reliable power and having a posative effect on the handling of the vehicle by getting better weight distribution and lowering the weight in the chassis. I Just ordered a new bearing kit for my stepson's RB25 motor and had the "mistfortune" of looking at prices of components for rb26s... and I retract everything I said earlier... $500+ for an OIL PUMP? $300 for a water pump? And it has to come from Australia??? Bearings for his RB25 were $355 shipped for main and rod bearings. It boils down to what you want to do with your car, but after doing more research, I'm not sure that you couldn't do an LS7 motor for the cost of doing an RB26 and THAT is saying something... Mike

Grumpy, I'm gonna do the exact same thing on the concrete when I have the addition built onto my shop. I'm looking at 3500PSI at about 8 inches with rebar in it. Mine will have stub outs for sink/toilet, but My drain/septic field is uphill and I'm not sure how that's gonna work... The shop addition keeps growing every week... Place is currently 26deep by 32wide and we're gonna make it atleast 60ft. wide total. Not sure if the depth for the addition will remain at 26ft. or go deeper on the addition. Mike -

We've had a couple requests to do the 280ZX. It will be very difficult to move a few chassis in and out of the windtunnel, and what I've been told is mounting the chassis on the platform is going to be a challenge. We have a number of issues to overcome here, but we're getting there... Mike -
What I did was get a driveshaft yoke from a T400 tranny, which I'll be selling here shortly since I don't need it anymore, and take measurements (*came out to 19.25 inches I believe) and have a shaft made up with the JTR adapter (Which I'll also be selling shortly since I'm using the Q45 differential.) I'd got to any driveshaft shop and tell them you want to have yours made out of aluminum with the parts I describe above. Mike

Tony, I'm fully in your camp on this post. The reason I made my comments was only to validate the numbers I've repeatedly spoken of. Quite honestly, my own crude methods of data collections back in the 90s were extremely dangerous and extremely risky. We were on public highways that had (At the time) little to no traffic and utilized several people and an off duty police officer who just so happened to be a good college buddy and fellow car nut. Everything I've ever posted on the web regarding my high speed testing was verified by a stalker radar gun. I can't speak for others, but I can tell you that the stock speedo is horribly inaccurate and if you're going by that means of measuring speed, I'd have to agree with Tony D. That said, I can assure you that handling "can" be stable with the right mods/aero adjustments to keep the car planted, and a judicious application of HP. I've seen 167 mph in an L6 powered Zcar and I've "loafed along" in a wounded 383 powered (bent pushrod) Zcar in 6th gear running about 3900-4000 RPMs at 155 mph, with one hand on the steering wheel. It can be done. Mike

One of you smart guys needs to fab up a mount for the R230 now, since you've all done such a great job on the R200! Mike

I need to get that car out in the sunlight for some better pics... You might be very surprised to see that it doesn't have as much "pink" tone to the paint... it's actually rather dark grey metalic... Viper Silver... Mike

Once you hang a tire off into the dirt while locked up, you're no longer a driver, you're a passenger... He should've gotten off the binders while still on the pavement. He'd have stuck the corner. That guy clearly panicked and froze. Dumbasses should have found a nice ROAD COURSE to test their skills (or lack of) on and not the public highways... I think I've drive that piece of road (if it's north LA) and it's not a "safe" one to drive at those speeds... Mike

Here's the deal on the publication of information... Unless we are writing an article for Nissan Sport, We'll publish all the data and the story here on HybridZ. IF we write a story for Nissan Sport, then we'll publish the data and pictures and wait for the story to be published in Nissan Sport. Regardless, ALL DATA will be published when it is produced and it will be published here on HybridZ. I say this because you guys are donating to get this information. There are a number of folks on this site with rather deep pockets. We could go off and do this testing ourselves and keep the data to ourselves... I thought it would be nice to offer this opportunity up to our members here. I figured out members would appreciate this data the most since this site is geared towards the use of this information. As to a video, I'll leave that up to BJ to comment on. If he gets the videographer onboard, then that will certainly help bigtime. As far as making it free to the public... Once it's put online, it's free to the public. We could setup a sub-forum where those who contributed would get access to the information, but that wasn't my goal... Again, I was hoping to have many people contribute a few bucks, rather than a few people contributing many... If I write an article for Nissan Sport, I'll donate the fee they pay for the article, and I'm already planing to donate a few bucks as well... So I was hoping that we'd get donations from as many members as possible $20 here, $50 there... But I've only gotten 6 members to donate, but the donation amounts have been sizable and for that I'm grateful. To date we've got $600 in donations from the following members... 1/24 Scale Jadatoys Datsun 240Z diecast!!
Mikelly replied to christurismohk's topic in Non Tech Board
I can't wait... This is gonna be sooooo coool... I'm glad they're making this car. I've got several of the other 1/24 scale regular Zs painted in different collors, the Kyoshi yellow Z in 1/43 scale and a flared Gnozed Z body for the RC car, along with a 510 body... Now that I've got a driveway that's over 400ft. of asphault, I should probably buy an RC car or two! Mike -
Ari, I've got a set of panels I'm gonna rob that trim ring off of. One more thing on the list of parts to finish up... Mike

John, I already sent the link to Art over at Nissan Sport. Was hoping to hear back from them pretty quick. There are a number of folks here (you and I inclided) who have provided written articles to them in the past, so hopefully we can contribute yet one more literary success! Mike -

Mike, the only "historically" bad incident associated with this site was that conducted by two members associated with the pinks build and subsiquent fraudulent raffle they tried to pull off. Myself and the other admins stepped in and made sure the raffle was conducted in a fair manor, again spending many hours and money out of our own pockets to insure that the right thing was done. You've been a member since February 2006. We've been around much much longer and one bad incident with two people "loosly" associated with us should not even be brought up, considering how tightly we run this ship. Anyone else who wants to know the skinny on this raffle can get intouch with me offline or ask "relevent" questions here... This discussion about "a potential scam" is over. I stepped in and took on getting funds for this activity because I (And other admins here) believe this test will conclusively help us desipher the unknown cause and effect of aerodynamic parts on these cars. We'll FINALLY have the answers. I felt that by stepping up and taking over collection duties for this effort, and officially supprting it with HYBRIDZs backing, it'll give more legitimacy and also comfort to those who may be on the fence. The money will go to the effort ONLY to pay the operator of the windtunnel for the time used. No food or beer or parts purchased. I will also PUBLISH the PAYPAL and funds received via mail. We will have 100% accountability of the funds and if this event falls thru and can't be conducted, then we'll have to refund in full *(minus the paypal charges) the money that was donated. Ron the paypal account is indeed dat74z@yahoo.com Mike, I wasn't gonna comment, but Nah, I will... There's a young man on this board named Tom, who I held a donation drive for. I matched ALL the donations in that case... ALL OF THEM. I'm vouching for this effort personally and for the record, I OWN a company valued at several MILLION dollars. I don't need to scam anyone of any funds or take a risk hurting my good reputation. I was not a PART of the PINKS fiasco and was very much VOCAL against it. I did spend considerable time and $500 of my own money to insure that the car was delivered to its rightful owner... There will be no scam in this effort to get very useful data for all of us to use for years to come... Donate if you wish or not, but don't ever question my honesty or integrity. Mikelly -
Actually I do have pics posted Here: http://new.photos.yahoo.com/dat74z/album/576460762343630329 Scroll to the bottom. They are in the last 10 or so pics. Mike
