  1. Four donations and $400 total so far... Not bad for the first day... Come on gang, step up and put your money down... We're all gonna benefit from this one gang!!! Mike...
  2. Off the car mine lines up too. However, when you bolt the lights up to the chassis, THAT is where you will run into trouble. The lights spread further appart from each other... Other new parts like a new MSA airdam and rear bumper just arrived today, so I'll be posting pics of those once mounted as well, along with the ZG Flare mounting kit Austin (240ZHoke) sent me! Mike
  3. There is no deadline set for right now. Best guess is this will take place in JANUARY. Stay tuned... And again, PLEASE DONATE!!! Also I'll remind you folks that this is a volunteer effort that is running on limited budget. Please keep that in mind when you make requests for specific tests being conducted... Mike
  4. We're up to $350 gang in 24 hours... Come on folks... I've only had THREE donations and we're up to $350... Dig deep gang!!! Mikelly
  5. So we've only gotten TWO donations so far gang... Come on... COUGH IT UP!!! Total to date is $250!!! Not bad for TWO donations... Come on guys... Mike
  6. All requests to mail donations will be handled through PMs. Send me a PM and I'll instruct you from there... AG, You've got a PM. MIke
  7. We have about $800 worth of donations right now... Send what you can... Mortensen, I'd be cautious about sending parts. They'll eventually have to get BACK to their owners and that costs as well. We need DONATIONS of DOLLARS, NOT PARTS so much... This is a VERY EXPENSIVE proposition and has NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE by a group of enthusiast/ non-professional racers... We need all the financial help we can get. Mike
  8. Feel free to link this thread to others in the Zcar community. There has never been another opportunity like this one, and I hope we can pull it off gang... I feel this is a MAJOR and SIGNIFICANT contribution to the Zcar community as a whole, and I hope that we will be able to get contributions to fund this activity. Mike Kelly Adminsitrator at Large HybridZ paypal account: dat74z@yahoo.com
  9. OK Gang, This is a really important drive and we're asking each and every member who owns an S30 to dig deep and come up with whatever you can for this effort. BJ Hines and a few others from the North Carolina area have gotten together with the owner of a windtunnel and are planning to rent the windtunnel for some basic testing/ data collection on the Zcar, both in stock trim, and with a number of spoilers/airdams/aerodynamic devices to see what really helps, what really doesn't and what cause and effect can be measured. This is VERY important to each and every one of you who drives an S30. We all thumb thru the pages of each vendor catalog, trying to decide which air dam looks best, or which rear wing provides the most function along with form. Don't you want to know WHAT TRULY WORKS? It's time to answer the question to these mystery parts combos and The Carolina gang are willing to put up some funds, front some parts and chassis, and do the wrenching/take the time. Since we're the PREMIER site for modifications to the Zcar, I think it would be best represented to the Zcar community if we champion this cause. PLEASE DONATE TO THIS CAUSE. If you can spare $10-25-50-100-500-1000, Any amount, please donate... I'll track these funds and provide an accurate accounting of the monies. If for some reason we do NOT pull off the event, your funds will be returned to you. Please understand that any fees Paypal hits me for will be gone to them and not me, and therefore won't be refunded. PLEASE DONATE TO THIS EFFORT. We'll all benefit from this excersise in aerodynamic testing. Send funds to: dat74z@yahoo.com We'll post an update as the event comes together. I plan to write an article to submit Nissan Sport Magazine and we'll take plenty of pictures and defenitely post the results. We'll also track the funds and I assure you that this WILL NOT BE another PINKS fiasco. All of the parties involved are mature adult professionals who don't need to scam you for your money! The cost for one day of rental is $3500. This is NOT gonna be a cheap endeavor. Please keep this in mind when deciding to donate or not. Contact me offline for more info... 10. Ding Ding Ding Ding... You sir would be correct... On that note, We the admin staff are endorsing the Test being conducted by bjhines... More to follow, but we need YOUR support to confirm or deny which aero devices work on the Datsun Zcar... Wouldn't you like to know if that new spoiler you've been eyeing will DO what you intend??? More to follow... Mike
  11. Thanks for this post guys... YOu've taught an old dawg new tricks. Now I need to go have a discussion with two individuals I spoke with at SEMA (Kept their business cards). Seems there's a TON of bad info being passed on this very subject. You'd think they would know more about their products than that, but BOTH told me no more than 45 degrees DOWN, and neither mentioned what I just read posted on the Gforce or the Simpson sites... Amazing... Mike
  12. Unless the seller has dyno sheets to show proven power, Be very cautious. Everyone under the sun "thinks" their SBC will make an "easy" 400-450 HP. I'm telling you from experience, there are a LOT of combos out there that simply don't make 3/4s that at the crank and some don't break 300HP at the wheels. You don't want to hear this, because it's a "DEAL". However, the "deal" sounds to good to be true... Proceed with caution. Mike
  13. My business parnter has owned several Supermotos, Including a Fast-BY-Feracci Huskvarna and his current KTM560. If you're just riding back roads or road course, they're as much fun as any bike for several hours of riding. Barry hasn't had trouble with his KTM at all, but the Huski was nothing but trouble. And forget about keeping up with him on a roadcourse on that thing... It walks everybody that isn't on a Supermoto at track days... They catch him in the straights, and he walks them in the corners... Mike
  14. Yes. The Minolta DiMage Z6 is very fast. I'm surprised at how fast, depending on the setting... Mike
  15. It should fit. However, Without the right induction parts, Who knows what it will truly make. I've seen 383 strokers turn 275 at the wheels. If I had it to do all over again, I'd do a built LS2-402 stroker. Since you're building from scratch, you might want to think about that one... Mike
  16. Jeff, That's news to me. When I was at SEMA a few weeks ago I specifically spoke with the folks at the simpson booth and the GForce Booth about safety and harnesses. Interesting concept from Schroth... Everything I've read has been 45 degrees, not 20 degrees. Mike
  17. I'm Buying another new bike at the end of the month... 2002 Yamaha WR250. and I may even buy another set of wheels for it for the street and do some serious Supermoto/track day "stuff" with it... Mike
  18. David, Honestly I think a mint condition Scarab would be worth whatever someone is willing to pay. However, I'm inclined to think that number is somewhere around $15,000.00 on a good day. That said, You may well get $20000 for it, who knows. The point is that I'd not over-value it because it is a Scarab. Mike
  19. You're gettin' a DELL Dude.... NIIIIIICCCCEEEEE Reading this thread, I could feel my pulse quicken... We've all been there... You use these damned boxes day in and day out, and they should just work all the time, damnit... Unfortunately the best laid plans always fail in the hands of man, no? We ended up using Avast for our firewall suite on all our office computers. It seems to do well and allows me to stay ahead of those little pesky visuses that Mcafee and Norton swear they don't release 30 days before their next "upgrades"... Good luck and be kind to the wife and impending child... Yelling a cursing over a broken PC won't fix the pc and my upset the little lady... And when Momma's not happy, NOBODIES happy! Mike
  20. http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1725037 Criminals truly aren't very smart... Mike
  21. 280ZForce, the straps are mounted incorrectly in your pics... Look online for mounting instructions, but those straps should be at a 45 degree angle below your shoulders. They need to be anchered below those holes in the seat BIG TIME... Mom'Z you can run the mounts for the lower two points to the bolt holes for the sliders. They need to be anchered below and under the seat though so they pull towards the back of the car somewhat. The purpose is to insure you won't slide under the straps... People have actually sustained injuries from the sinlge crotch strap and the double better centers the load... To all of you, I'd seek advice from A NASA or SCCA inspector for mounting... I see bad ideas for harnesses all the time... Mike
  22. Snap a pic of the whole mess and send it to me at dat74z@yahoo.com and I'll take a look and make a recommendation... Mike
  23. I commented a while back that although not ideal, the S30 aerodynamics numbers are taken with the factory body, no aero add ons such as an airdam or sideskirts... For comparison, check the numbers on the new Viper Coupe. The CD is .39. http://www.caranddriver.com/previews/9018/2006-dodge-viper-srt-10-coupe.html Amazing as it seems, this particular car does well with not-so-great aerodynamics... Mike
  24. I agree Randy... I just don't care for the looks of the fairing though... Although Tom's FZ-6 looked good this year when he brought it to the Zcar shindig at my place... I've been racing my supp'ed up CRF150 indoors with a bunch of mini-supermoto guys here in Virginia. We go to several indoor karting tracks on Sunday mornings and race for 4 hours before the karts take it over... Talk about cheap fun! Mike
