  1. Look, You did the right thing. You tried to help an addicted member of your family. You entrusted him to your personal posession while you were at work and you rolled the dice. We all hope for the best, but often the sicknesses of our society intercept our lives and impact our worlds. If rehabilitation hasn't worked in the last four or five times, jail may be his last resort. I'd not hurt him (Am I saying this??? ) but not help him any further. Prosecute him and send him off to prison where he will have time to reflect on the pain he has cause those who loved and cared most for him. We are currently going through this same thing with My wife's cousin. She was a business owner, married with a 12 year old son two years ago. She went from owning her own company to losing the business, getting divorced, losing her son to social services (He's now with his real father), going on the run for prescription fraud (Multiple felony counts), and we found out that while she is out on bail, she is working the streets to feed her crack habit. All within the span of two years... A life, a family has been completely ruined. It has been a real eye opener to be this close to that implosion. Drug addiction in America is the true cancer of our society. Mike
  2. Too Intense, Please post your products in the vendors forum. You seem to be reserecting a lot of old posts on the topics surrounding the types of products you sell. Although we appreciate more vendors in the ZCAR arena, the masses are complaining about the drudging up of old posts in technical forums for the sake of sales... Mike
  3. Ring and Pinion, maybe? Check the sway bar mounts and make sure one hasn't broken... I'd get it on a lift and inspect it closely... Get lots of light under there and check every bolt and nut on the rear suspension, including the strut housing bolt, the strut to top hat bolt and the assembly bolts to the strut tower. Check the control arm bolts and the spindle pin bolts, along with the rear wheel bearings... Do all this for both sides, and check the Mustach bar mount nuts, along with the front diff mount bolt... Mike
  4. I've bought from Discount Tires Aka Tires.com for the kids imports and had good luck with odd ball sizes like 205-50-15s... Never had an issue. Even bought two sets of import wheels for hondas from them without issues. They don't seem to carry larger selections of wider tires though... Mike
  5. I agree Pete. Mike At ClassicZ is a real good guy, Met him at the 2002 MSA show, and he was a great person to get to know and hang with. Unfortunately a lot of people don't see our way of moderating the web. F'em! There are very few turds in our HybridZ punch bowl and we're weeding them out as we go! Mike
  6. Jon, The earlier EVO8s had oil starvation issues, but I thought I read they were corrected in 2004, mid-year. I've seen quite a few of them at track events without any issues. MIke
  7. Geez Boob Boy, If you'd lay off the Nip/Tuck and pick up a wrench, it would have been done by last year... Guess all these "make over" reality shows are good for business, Huh? Looks good man! No shame in farming it out! Mike
  8. We put Koni Race inserts in Jim McNemar's car. They are a universal design about the size of a 280ZX strut and valved custom to your request... Ross at MML ordered ours... Mike

  10. You have to be careful with researching these two, because the hype surrounding both is so big that misinformation is everywhere. I think the Subaru was the better car in 2003-2004. In 2005 Mitsu supposedly addressed some of the transmission/ clutch issues to cure some of the warranty claim problems, making it a better package. Depending on who you talk to, the EVO is a better package because it is a little more stoute out of the box and better platform for modifications. Just beware that Mitsu is activily seaking to catch people using evos at the track so they can void warranties... This campaign is still ongoing and Mitsu/ Daimler want to avoid any warranties they can when it can be disputed that the car has been abused. I'm obviously biased in this next comment, but I'll throw it out since Bastaad was caught a bit off guard after I suggested this same thing in another thread (After he bought his Neon SRT)... Have you thought about what other cars you might be able to buy used in that price range? Your insurance will be about the same on a New mustang, a used Corvette, used M3 BMW, VW RS32TT, and any host of other sports cars in the used market. There are so many choices out there right now for truly amazing sports cars that your options could easily overwhelm you. Good luck! Mike
  11. I got a set of BFG Bias Ply "e" rated truck tires in 275/275/16s for my last Chevy truck and they were about $410 shipped. The closest any local shop would get was for a lighter load rating (Important when towing a car trailer) and about $200 more. Of course, I paid about $80 to get them mounted and balanced, but hey it was worth the savings... I also pick up hoosiers from them when they do the "end of model" clearance on their road race tires periodically. Mike
  12. What really gets me with "those guys" over on Zcar.com is that most, if not all of them have never been in a properly done V8 conversion, so they would rather spew ignorance rather than ask intelligent questions about why a V8 might be a good alternative. "It's a V8, so it must have horrible handling, brake poorly, upsetting the miraculously perfect handling that nissan nailed 30+ years ago and must only be good in a straight line..." And people wonder why I think so poorly of "those guys"... There are some good guys on Zcar.com... It's Just "those guys" that ruin it for me... Long live HybridZ and to those with the "purist" mentality, please go away and show your ignorance no more... Mike
  13. Being a Kumho fan, I always go to Tirerack first for price qoutes, and usually end up buying from them. Great service, and excellent shipping. Mike
  14. Dat260 that MML setup on the rear is VERY sufficient. I've had it on two heavier and larger cars and it works... Remember, the rear brakes do a lot less braking and when you throw on a larger diameter rotor, you increase the lever, so you don't need a large caliper to do any more work or screw up the balance any further. I personally think the Cobra rear caliper is the best solution for all those requiring an e-brake. Ross' 13inch extreme kit is a VERY well engineered kit... Matter of fact, ALL Ross' parts are engineered to the highest standards. If you're a discerning customer, and are concerned with mechanical engineering aspects, you'll like his parts! Mike
  15. Glad all those parts went to a good cause! Mike
  16. No one on this site is disputing that using your own enginuity and resources to get your car built, be it brakes, suspension, or any other stages. However, we just want to make sure that info is accurate and proven. Remember Ed, We've got a lot of members who read these posts and run right out and buy stuff based on what is posted. The original poster hasn't had a lot of time or posts on the site, so we're gonna be a little more discernable with the info. Mike
  17. $2600 is stupid cheap... You can buy the standalone holley commander950 ECU and harness for $800 and it'll drive everything you need for a universal 6 Cylinder setup. So for less than most people are paying for the primaryu unit itself you guys could have a power adder that is proven and reasonably safe for an additional 100+hp??? Ken, I hope guys are beating down your door, with all the posts about "how can I go faster" and "how can I beat my best friends third cousin's girlfriend's grandmother's dodge dimplomat" posts! Mike:cool:
  18. I've got an electric heater, a propane heater and a kerosene heater... I like the electric for the lack of fumes, but it isn't big enough. The Other two will heat the whole garage, but the fumes are a huge issue... Money is tight right now or I'd have had an HVAC system installed, as my brother inlaw is an HVAC contractor. I can get electric heat and AC installed in my garage for about $1500. Mike
  19. I'm 100% in agreement with Jon on this one... Put the money in brakes, suspension, and an LSD. Then do some bolt-ons for your existing L6 motor, like cam/ header/ intake/ carb/ injection/ ignition/ stuff to make around 180-190HP. In that light a car, you'd be surprised how much learning you can get done at HPDEs and still have a lot of street enjoyment, and be competitive at the autoX! Learn with less HP and you'll be much faster and much smoother in the end. Every "SERIOUS" car driver I know will tell you the same. Mike
  20. It isn't a bit much. It is impossible and here's why... Safety regulations for WHAT type of racing?? SCCA? So you're building an ITS car? NASA? What are the rules? NHRA? What are the rules? To make a true "competitive" race car, you'll need to gutt everything possible to make it work and doing that won't make it livable on the street... Like a radio and sub box ( I know I do), sorry, can't have one. Like A/C or heat? Nope, can't have it... No creature comforts... Oh, want a cage? Better check the rules on the whole door bar/ Window net/ Fire supression/ Fuel cell/ racing seat/ harness req's... And don't get me going when we start discussing a safety inspection? Mike
  21. Yup, Make certain he has those records accurately reflect the nature and extent of injuries and current treatment, as well as prescriptions. Just like everything else in life, what works as a "fix" today will be outdated tomorrow or deemed worse than the injury itself for longterm impact... Hard to prove this for a disability claim without the supporting records... Hope your boy takes a good oh, say seven months to heal! Godspeed! Mike
  22. Rick, there are ways to get that Dr. reprimanded... Sounds like you should write your representatives in congress and document everything. There is also zero excuse for why your boy was in a war zone without the proper gear to protect him should an attack on his location have occured. Was your son given a medical discharge or is he just home on medical leave? David, the reason these boys are being sent back for 2nd and 3rd tours is because enlistment numbers are the lowers they've been in quite some time... Mike
  23. This same thing happened on my brother inlaws brand new Richmond transmission when we installed it in his (Now gone) Olds 442. What ours turned out to be was shifter/ linkage related. We had to completely redo the alignment of the external linkages because they were binding. We replaced all the bushings that the linkage pins ride on, and reset the detent on them and were able to shift the car into neutral and every gear. However, I don't recommend trying to force it. We thought that maybe the tranny was caught between gears. locking up the output shaft. Mike
  24. Larry, you're a nutt! I think Tim was delivering the 'Goose to the east coast.... Hmmm, or did I hire yet another crazy like myself? Mike
  25. 'Trouble, We checked into COBRA and it was going to be as expensive to duplicate our coverage through the previous employer for ONE of us, as opposed to covering costs for both of us on our own policies. I was technically still covered under my former bosses insurance until the end of November, but It was going to be about $1000 for my partner alone on COBRA, so I opted to go on a "group" policy with my partner to A: Offset the cost and B: establish our benefits so when we start hiring employees, we'll be able to tell them we are providing ########! Crazy280, If I hire that Pimplyfaced kid through a company, I have recourse to get refund or get the work redone... If the pimplyfaced kid is going solo and to interested in the new Xbox360 he just bought with my deposit, and isn't responsive to my customer request, then I have little recourse, other than finding him and "getting" his attention... I'll go with a company and pay the price... It's yet one more write-off. Mike
