  1. Lewis, Jody (jbc3) did an EXCELLENT 6 point drag style cage. It has a rear hoop for the roofline protection, and ties into the firewall down at the rockerpanel level. There is no front Hoop to hit your head on. That's what you want. But I'd go to a shop that does cages and get them to work with you on a custom cage. You'll have around $1500-2500 in the right cage, but it will fit your needs. Also, these rollcage kits being offered by Jegs and S&W use tubing that is larger than you need, and isn't always DOM, which is the type of tubing you want. You only need 1.5inch DOM .120 thick tubing for a cage in that car... Also, Beware that 4 point or 5 piont harnesses aren't DOT approved with good reason. The webbing isn't UV safe and will degrade with time. 4 and 5 point harnesses also only work with proper seat selection. You should have harness belt pass thru ports in order for the harness to do its job properly. They're also a real pain in the but in a daily driver. I think newer versions of the OEM belts would be a better solution if you can retrofit some from another model year vehicle for daily use. Mike
  2. Lewis, Is this a street car? You don't want a "full" cage for a street car. If you have a front impact collision, four point harnesses won't guarantee you won't make contact with that halo with your head... Ask John C. and others who build these everyday... Full cages and street use are bad news... Mike Kelly

  5. drmiller, I've read several of your posts, and I keep waiting for the heavy (very heavy) hand of the admin staff to come down on you... Regardless where else you post, please try not to post any further in my threads. I post so little these days, and I can't afford to get any dumber reading your disertations. Thanks! Mike Kelly
  6. Looking for a custom upper grill like was sold by a couple vendors a few years back... Mike
  7. At the risk of drawing negative attention from those who hate the mention of my "other" car, what I noticed with it was I could dial out understeer by doing a couple of things... Adjusting the front softer, and stiffening the rear (my other car responded well to this, but it is AWD) would dial out a lot of push that the rear engine configuration caused. I have a ton of adjustment in the Zcar's suspension, but I also do in the other car. So I'd like to be able to adjust the swaybars front and rear to make the adjustments needed for under/over steer correction. Simply adjusting softer in the front or stiffer in the rear made a HUGE difference on the other car, and it is pushing 540AWhp at about 3360#. I realize the Zcar suspension will react differently to a front engine, rear drive 2300# platform. I already have the rear bar, but wasn't sure a 5/8th bar would be sufficient! Guess it is! Mike
  8. So I've searched using "Adjustable Sway Bar" and found... Nothing. What I'm looking for is information on adjustable sway bars for the Zcar. I'm sure this will be a custom race parts supplier, but I guess my question is WHO has done this and what did you use??? I'm looking for both front and rear setups. I've found that having adjustable front and rear swaybars has really helped with dialing in (or out) any under or oversteer issues on the other car, and would like to keep that adjustability as I move into the Zcar for the track. Mike
  9. After multiple issues with my Tilton Hydraulic release bearing setup, and the lack of ability to service it without removing the transmission, I've decided to resolve the concern by removing the unit and going this route. I really don't want to be at the track and have my only resolution to dealing with something like this as "removing the transmission" to deal with a fluid/leak/bearing issue... If it's a bearing, I'll be removing the tranny, but honestly I'm done with this thing pissing brake fluid all over the underside of the car... Mike
  10. Isky Hydraulic Roller #201282/294 It's a 530/550 lift cam with 282/294 Duration cam w/ 110 lobe separation. Mike

  15. For once, JonM and I agree whole heartedly... And having been on the other side of the fence, with a dad manipulating his son into coming to live with him, and tearing my wife's heart out, it's kinda hard for me to be a cheerleader for you on this, David... But then again we don't know (and don't need to know - Take JonM's advice and deepsix this thread) all the circustances that make living with his mother so "wrong"... Mike Kelly

  19. It would probably be useful to add the fluids for these diffs as well. I've spent more than a few minutes researching the "type of fluid" for the Q45 rear diff and haven't found a reference on this site yet. Just a suggestion... Mike
