  1. Edit: It's 3 degrees outside this morning, and I just walked down to the shop and built a fire... It's 29 degrees inside the shop... Not sure how much I'll be able to get done today, but I'm waiting until we have sufficient heat in there! Mike
  2. New pics from today... didn't resolve the fuel issue yet, but did start working on the radiator box. No pics of it yet though!
  3. A day of triumphs and tribulations... The fuel pump I bought from some vendor on ebay isn't pulling fuel out of the can i'm using to prime the system. On the plus side, we were able to confirm that the starter is working properly, and that a number of "other" electrical components are functioning as designed. We were also able to confirm the motor is firing properly. I also managed to pull the holley 750 double pumper and go thru it. The carb had 70 main jets, but I upgraded it to 73s in the primary and kept the 80s that are on the secondary side. I only had one pack of jet extenders, so I couldn't install any on the secondary side. I'll pick up some next week and take care of that... I'm also pretty sure the Odyssey PC680 battery may not be sufficient to crank this car over... Also spent some time making sure the suspension was going to clear under full travel, and wrapped some fuel lines and wires in flame resistant wrap to make sure I don't have any serious issues at the track... We're getting there... Maybe more news tomorrow, as I do have another fuel pump, and will attempt to use that tomorrow to pull fuel from the can I'm using to "test" everything... Mike
  4. Tomorrow, We will start the Zcar, if "god" smiles down upon me... Some would say that... "If god smiles down upon me"... Please... I'll report the results of tomorrow's efforts later in the weekend... Mike
  5. If all goes will I'll have the car at Summit Point in April to start the "debugging" process. Mike
  6. Just remember, this site would be nothing without the membership. You guys (and I'm one of you now) make this site what it is. *Deleted* Oh Snap, There, I said it... Maybe I'll get banned? Mike Kelly
  7. Wonderful way to spend money and time... Mike
  8. Oh, yea... I'm working on the DATSUN, just so we're all clear. Mike
  9. Contact me offline... There is a huge difference base to base that you need to be aware of before signing on to that job... Mike
  10. Everything here is no longer relevant to the build... Mike
  11. I had an issue with Photobucket and lost all my links to the pics in these and other threads. I still have most of the images. Anyone wanting to have access to that folder, send me an email to dat74z@yahoo.com and I'll add you to my list for access to those pics, ie send an invite to that folder! I'd recommend saving the pics and data so you'll have your OWN PERSONAL COPY, just incase something like this happens again. DO NOT PM ME here at HybridZ. I'm no longer an admin and don't have the PM storage space required. Mike
  12. Assuming I don't get another corrupt files issue with photobucket, here is a pic of the wiring for the wipers. Mike
  13. Please remove all references to the president-elect or his political views guys... This is over the lines of our rules... Mike
  14. Reality is that I've owned every one on that list... It wasn't always the recent life I'm blessed with. Mike
  15. The real problem was that the Zcar was dominating the group it was classed in, so it was moved up and compared to the vette and the porsche. It held its own back then, but was the "bargain" performer. Mike
  16. I have a fire proof filing cabinet for our valuables and the pistol (I'm down to one) for storage when we're on travel and I'm not carrying it. If you need to store long rifles, That's another issue, and a gun safe would be a smart move. Mike
  17. Guns are like everything else... Everyone has their favorite. Go to a range, rent a few and shoot them... I prefer the glock, and I've shot both as well...Funny, I've never had brass hit me on the head with mine. Mike
  18. Glock Model 27... Love it... Easy to carry... Easy to conceal... GREAT KNOCK DOWN power! Mike

  22. Well... When you're looking at an average cost for a 3 day weekend at the track running better part of $1500 in: Towing Fuel to get truck/trailer/car to event Car fuel cost to get car around the track Lodging cost (More expensive if you take the wife) food/drinks for 3 days Cost of event Fluids to prep the car with assuming you don't need tires/brakes I can see where a spouse might get a little bent over say oh 15 days at the track... Not that MY spouse would throw a fit, or anything! It's been almost 2 months, and I'm in serious withdrawls! Mike
  23. A man's gotta know his limitations... Sounds like you do! Tracking is fun, but hard on the hardware! Mike
  24. Tony, Like you, I dropped out of football for over a decade... Last year was the first year I watched from the beginning of the season, until the final play of the superbowl... I must admit that the game has truly changed and that I really enjoy watching it again... Give it a shot, you just might discover the sport has changed in a positive, more exciting way... It did for me! Mike
