  1. This is not an uncommon thing... We see it with Vipers, Z06s, Porsches... Ferraris... Pretty much a lack of driving talent and a thick wallet... Mike
  2. This is the most realistic and accurate post in this thread! Data is what it's all about. If you can't "prove it", then you didn't "do it". Mike
  3. There are reports of "stoplight runs" against other cars on other sites and so far, stock for stock, the GTR is cleaning up on some Vettes, Vipers, and porsches... I've not had the pleasure of running against one yet. Mike
  4. Looks like you got your information... let us know how your assignment works out... Mike
  5. Actually Bajaracer! has a setup using the Mustang caliper and an oem style 4 lug rotor... I'd considert that if the 4 lug is the desire... Mike
  6. I'd stay away from the add-on ebrake calipers that wilwood and others sell. Everyone I know that's used them has had limited to no success... You might want to check with bajaracer. I'm can personally atest to the ability of those ford Mustang cobra calipers... They work very well...and they're OEM, so getting parts for them is a no brainer. Mike
  7. Dig back about a year ago... I posted the same thing... 11.24 @ 127MPH pulling the front wheels and having a horrid reaction... Depends on what you want to be good at... Drag racing takes lots of skill. I just prefer something that holds my attention a little longer... You're easily in a 12 second car... Mike
  8. Cameron, I shouldn't have said "direct bolt on"... You need to have adapters made for the calipers in the front and buy the early 79-81ZX caliper bracket for the rear and then drill it out to fit the Mustang Caliper. Once you've gone thru all the "hoops" of sourcing the caliper adapters, and proper hub for the front (Jamie Taylor had a run of them made, but they're out of production now, but Ross may have them) You can then just run all the Ford SVT Cobra stuff from 1999-2003. If you can track down all the parts, it's well worth it... Or just buy the kit from Baja... I fully believe that the OEM Mustang brake setup (it's a five lug deal) is the best way to go for these relatively light weight cars, and the OEM form parts source makes daily driver parts a snap. I don't think these will fit the 15 inch wheel. The front rotor is a 13inch rotor. I'm not even sure you could squeeze a 16 inch rotor on it. Mike
  9. This system realy works well if you remember you'll need to remove the OEM bias and pressure switches and install Ts and unions, along with a manual bias adjuster. I personally think this system is better, and certainly more cost effective, with a functioning E-brake, than the Wilwood setups being sold by others... And the OEM mustang cobra rotor setup sold by most of the popular race car suppliers will be a direct bolt on! Mike
  10. Everything here is no longer relevant to the build... Mike
  11. Can't wait to see footage of this thing at the track! Mike
  12. I've been over 185MPH several times in my 650HP Porsche 911 Turbo and that Camaro "looks" to be running pretty damned fast... Mike
  13. Those cars have pretty decent aerodynamics. Not great, but not like a Datsun Zcar either... Mike
  14. Very happy to report that we've got Joe's car squared away and his cobra brakes are sorted/ no longer leaking, and all OEM bias/brake switches have been removed from the system. BIG grin on his face after the test drive today! Mike
  15. Well riding motorcycles doesn't have to be over... I used to track my ZX9R... I don't anymore. The risk wasn't worth the reward in the long run... I now ride a ZRX1100 on the street, sanely... It's a $3250 throw away bike that is cheap to insure and I can still enjoy motorcycling... The sport bike thing? Uh, leave it to the youngsters! Oh yea, and welcome to the reality of screaming and kicking thru that door of middle age...You're getting closer to the entry every day! Mike
  16. Angry? frustrated?? Uhm, who wins in a confrontation with your SPOUSE? Nobody... I can count the arguments I'd had with my wife on one hand... We've known each other 9 years... If you have to "win" an argument with your wife, you might want to ask yourself why you're married... Phil, You might be suffering the 7 year itch... Here's something to consider... You have a commitment to W-I-F-E and C-H-I-L-D-R-E-N... "stunt riding" on motorcycles doesn't exactly give "confidence" in their future or stability. It became about them, and not about you when you got married... To add insult to injury, Your bank said "no" to a "loan" for a "toy"... Sorry to spell it out in such blunt terms, but maybe you want to prioretize what's important in your life... Mike
  17. Smartest post I've read in this thread so far... Mike
  18. That car is largely unchanged visually from when I initially went and checked it out for Clint over a year ago... Man I love the look... Don't lose the scoop! Glad to see you're putting that chassis to good use... Mike
  19. This is why I always preach CHOOSE YOUR SPOUSE WISELY and TAKE YOUR TIME! Any woman who naggs and byatches about your interests will not change... You can't change them, and they won't change you. Choose wisely... My wife and I met long before the Porsches and big houses, trips and success... But I chose wisely and didn't marry until I was 35 years old... CHOOSE wisely and take LOTS of test rides... Phil, ask her to choose... Bike or strippers, choose one then shut the hell up! Mike
  20. I can't get past this comment... Every single car I've owned has been modified, including my Corvette, and now my Porsche 911 Turbo. It's on my lift right now awaiting parts to replace the damage done at the track...I know of many guys who own benzs, Ferraris, Lambos, Vipers, Vettes, Aston Martins, and in particular some very expensive Porsches. All of which that are modified by their owners and to levels that are simply in a class all their own. This notion that owning something modern and/or exotic should be looked down on is pathetic and insulting to a host of us who choose to be car guys, not just Zcar guys. ScottyGNZ said it best when he sold his Z and moved into a 2nd Gen RX7... There are things the ZCAR does well for an intended purpose, or maybe at a specific time in one's life. Doesn't mean it will be all things to all people, always. Further, from every newer and high tech car I've owned, I've been able to steal ideas and transfer them to Zcar projects I'm involved with developing. Closed minds close doors to new opportunities... Don't close yours. Mike
  21. I'm sure they're out there, but I've never experienced a more impressive car building company... Mike
