  1. Man, it's vids like these that make me want to call in sick to work and spend whole days getting my car done! It must feel pretty good to be in a 'lowly' Zcar and smoke everybody that lines up. Your car even sounds badass!
  2. That GTX must turn a few heads at the staging line, eh? Crapola!!
  3. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the air dam looks great. BUT, inquiring minds want to know about the Roadrunner in the background! How about posting up a picture or two??
  4. Does anyone have a listing of all the bolt types & sizes that are used on a Z car? I want to replace all the hardware as I put the car back together and it would be nice to get it all at once. I saw an ad on EBAY for a stainless steel bolt kit that looked very complete but it was pretty expensive. Anybody know if such a list exists?
  5. There's usually an add on EBAY listed as 'Undercoating'. It's for a 6-pack of 3M spray undercoating. The 3M web page makes it sound like pretty good stuff. There's no telling if the EBAY price is a good one, but a call to an auto paint store would end that mystery. I had good lick with another 3M spraycan undercoat, so this might be ok to try.
  6. That is one clean engine bay! No clutter anywhere. I like your radiator cover/shroud, it makes the whole job look really professional.
  7. There was a V8 Z on EBAY a few weeks ago that was up to $16k with a couple of days left. It had a little bit of a built motor, but still not an LS1. All in all, I'd rather build my own.
  8. I suspect that a new GTO engine will cost megabucks. It would be cheaper to get an LS1 and do a couple hundred bucks of mods to bump the hp up. LS6 heads, cam, & intake are ony $1700 or so, and that takes you to 405 crank hp.
  9. I actually used a wood chisel to scrape mine of. The neighbors who come over to spectate got a good laugh, but it works. I just keep that sucker sharp as a razor...
  10. Can you give us some detail on the Camaro instrument cluster? I've got the pieces together to tackle the same install, and I'd feel better about cutting up my dashboard if I could see that someone else has been successful... Thanks!
  11. Cool! That first drive makes it all worthwhile, eh?
  12. The Camaro and Firebird engine uses a throttle cable, and I believe the Corvette is fly by wire throttle.
  13. Oh fine, rub some salt in the wound! My poor car spent the last five years sitting in a field in Oklahoma, and on top of that the goofball who owned it left the drivers window down about a half inch. Just a few repeated soakings and snowings. Bottom line, I've learned how to break a spot weld with only one or two whacks.
  14. I wonder if there really is such a thing as a rust free Zcar. I've done the floors, firewall, battery tray (all 3 panels), both door sills, both rear quarters, and still have a couple of spots to patch on the inner fenders right above the front crossmember. The good news is that I'm getting real good at making panels, but the bad news is that it's taking FOREVER. I bought a 'rustfree' car on EBAY, fool that I am, and haven't even gotten to the engine work yet. Oh yeah, there's still the marker light, air vent, and antenna holes to fill in. I guess the key is to think of this as a work in progess, and the journey should be more fun than the destination...
  15. My advise would be to patch your existing floors. I'm in the middle of replace my entire floorpans, and it's a HUGE job. I'd cut my patches large enough to overlap the holes and weld then from top and bottom. If your car has undercoat you might want to do some scraping to make sure nothing is being hidden, especially around the support rails. The other big plus to patching is the cost. A sheet of 18ga will run maybe $20, but new floors are over $400!
  16. Yup, Tirerack.com and Victoriatire.com are about the best around.
  17. I put LS6 heads, cam & intake, along with bigger fuel injectors, on my 99 Camaro LS1 and gained right about 100hp. All Chevy factory parts that will run for 100k miles. I bought a package deal from Pace Pontiac on an LS1.com group buy. $2200 bucks. If you have a 2001 or newer the price drops about $500 bucks. 100hp for $1700 is a pretty good deal. Lots of options with an LS1.
  18. How much bending was involved in getting the Camaro lines to adapt to the Z. I'm just starting the same process, and it seems like a good idea to carry the whole fuel system over from the Camaro...
  19. A little off topic..... Did you have your car dipped or blasted, and how much did it cost you? I'm having mine dipped, and they want almost a grand. I've been wondering the same thing about the paint quantities. I'd also be interested to hear how long it takes to primer the whole unibody inside and out. There's a million tight little spots to paint!
  20. OH yeah, I forgot the 2003 Yamaha Warrior....
  21. ON3GO, I'm not sure which I'll like better. The SS was bought new and still looks showroom, but the Z will have alot of my time and effort in it before I'm done. I've modded the SS just about as for as is practical, so restoring the Z is fulfilling my need to be modding something. I can't wait to inish the Z car and take it to some of the local car shows. Still alot of work to do though.
  22. 75 280Z, in pieces all over the house and garage 99 Camaro SS, LS6 top end, lowered, 315 Nittos, 365rwhp, 360tq
  23. LOoks really good! Whose flares did you use?
