Sorry for your loss Mike. Just as you need to talk to someone about your feeling so should your mom and grandma and anyone else who is affected by this loss. Don't be afraid to talk to them as it is part of the healing process and you all need to grieve befor you can move on. Hang in there you'll make it through this and be stronger in the long run.

Don't think thats going to be easy. I have raced a stock cobra in the 1/8th and lost, not by much but it was still a lose. True it was the first time racing my car I still don't know if I could take him today especially if it were really modified. Your going to need some serious traction to even have a chance, traction in the Z can be expensive. Try to find a 88-89 z31 turbo they had posi rear-ends. As far as fuel managment I'm running the Jim Wolf Technologies ecu which is a Z31 modified and this system is capable of 400hp on race fuel and 350 on pump, it still uses the stock fpr. You want about 35psi at idle and 1 psi for every pound of boost or your going to run rich with those large injectors. You've got alot to deal with, hope your up for it but this site is a great resorce just make sure you search bofor asking something that has been answered a 100 times. Good luck.

To each his own. I went to the drags to race my car the other night and entered a burnout competiton. the announcer could not understand why I would do this to what he called "the best looking car here tonight", and he has not even seen under my hood. If your going to heat them for a race why not do it for longer and win some new tires. I put on a pair of JY tires and smoked-em for what felt like a long time but in watching the tape it's only about 30sec. I built my car with my own to hands to be driven like its stolen and I'm to proud of it to leave it at home. Maybe I'm crazy but I'd rather burnout than fade away!

Yeh that makes it tuff to figure out whats going on it could be a lot of things. My engine did not start right away and it turned out to be my maf was wired wrong. You could have a problem with your afm also. Good luck.

In your last post you wrote with the turn flasher on you had 0.04volts is that a typo? You should have 14 at the flasher all the time off or on, on both sides of the flasher. When you hit the turn signal it induces a load on the element in the flasher which heats up, opens then cools and closes, heats up opens, so on and so on. So if you don't have power at the flasher thats why they don't work.I'm looking at a dia for a 74 and it looks like the power should be coming from a green wire at the haz to the flasher out of the flasher to the ts switch, then when you through the switch it goes out to the lights inducing the load on the flasher. Hope that helps. Good luck I just went threw the same thing last week so I know what a pain in the *ss it is. Paul

Pull your dizzy off and turn it at the shaft by hand with the cap on you can check your spark and inj this way. Is #1 plug firing with # 1 INJ? Is your fuel pump working? You should really have a pressure gauge on the line after the filter it will come in handy now and later. Whats the story with the enjine? Did you rebuild it or is it just a drop in junkyard motor?
-
Sounds like your turn flasher is bad. they are only a few bucks it's easy to start by replacing it. Do your park lights work? If not it is the power wire that feeds your turn and park lights is dead. I think it is white/red and becomes black under the steering column near the ignition where it splits into two. If that has power than it must be the flasher or the switch. forget the wires going to the lights if your hazards work it can't be anything else. The turn signals go through the hazard switch when its off. The haz switch uses a seperate supply voltage that comes into the haz switch. Both switches (haz and turn) need to have power at them to then send power out when the switch is on. There are two seperate flashers so thats why haz may work but not turn. Your flasher can go bad two ways, lights always on or always off.
-
Did you ever make the switch? I think my maf may be bad also and found a maf for the cobra in a Summit catalog that claims 10-30hp improvement for $250. I was thinking like these other guys that if it works in the cobra it should work for the Z as well. Did you talk to Ben? He seems like a very conservitve guy that does not like to think outside the box. Let me know if you did it and how it works. Thanks Paul

Thanks Jersey thats what I wanted to hear. I have a noticable miss at idle that I'm hoping will clear up with the msd. And then I'd like to do the down pipe, thanks again Paul -

Hey jersey what are you putting to the wheels? How do you like the 2.5 down pipe did you loose any bottom end when you installed that? One more question, how do you like the msd 6a? Worth buying? Thanks Paul -
I don't know what you would like to know but the bumpers for instance are stock with the center cut out I then made caps for the area I cut and re-cromed them. The air damn is from motorsports and it is for the early 280's so there is no place for the turn/park lights. I mounted turn and park light s that I bought on ebay for 15.00 new. I think they were from a 87-89 accord and they are euro so they have clear lenses. I cut the lenght down a bit and install a secound bulb in it using the same socket as shown above. The grill I made of 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch polished stainless steel. Hope this answers your question.
-
Believe it or not that grill only took about 3hrs to make, But I did need to pay someone to polish the tubes befor I bent them and welded them to the frame. They are just tack welded to the backside of the frame. Right now the grill is fastened to the upper original grill mounts with a hose clamp, I still need to finish the mounting. I'm thinking of redoing the hole grill if the price is right I might sell it...?

That puts my car in the 14's! That blows! I hope its not right. I did find some problems with my ignition system so hopefully I can make some better times. Thanks for the #'s. -
How do I delete pics so I have more room for new ones?
-
This is the socket and bulbs I used.
-
Are these for the front of your car? Is so you will need one light for park and one for blinker unless you know a thing or two about relays. If it is for the side marker you really should use the glass bulbs that have a flat area at the bottom where they plug into the socket.
-
Just kidding! This was on of the easiest mods I did. Go to an auto parts store that sells the small plug in type bulbs commonly used for say Honda park lights. You should be able to find them in different colors of glass, (not painted but colored glass) get the red. Now go to the junk yard and find a late model Honda and take two of the front park light bulb sockets, they should be a grey rubber with two wires. Remove the inside panels from the rear quaters. remove the emblem and drill a small hole in the upper part of the emblem cavity through two sheets of metal. This is just a pilot hole so you know where on the inside you need to drill. Now you need a uni bit, it's a drill bit with multiple levels in the shape of a triangle that is used to drill from 1/8-3/4 inch holes. You can get them at Home Depot. You need to drill the inside metal panel first, as big as you can, you then drill the outer panel which is in the emblem cavity to the size of the rubber bulb socket. Don't drill it to big or it will leak water. Drill it small and put some lube on it and twist it in from the inside. Then put the bulb in and wire it up! It looks really cool at night, the light shoots out the edges of the emblem. Good luck Paul Lets see if I can get my motor pic in this time
-
It's a secret!
-
I was toying with the idea of putting the turn sigs in the small triangular area at the front of the headlight bucket, looking at it from the front it would be the bottom inner corner of the bucket. You would have to find or make your own lense to fit but it would be cool and unique. I though about sidepipes also but since I made it more of a sports car than a muscle car I went with duel exhaust. Detail,,, I know all to well of detail, powder coated down to the oil pan bolts and polished and cromed to the valve cover, it ante cheep my friend! I'll send you a pic of my motor when I get home. Here's an idea for a side marker light.
-
I would be in for all of it. It looks like there is alot of interest in getting some cool apparel. Just a suggestion for Tim, maybe figure out the pricing and final designs and post an announcement with a deadline for ordering and some pics of what we have to choose from. I don't want to tell you how to run your sight I just want it to happen. Thanks in advance Tim PS I would be willing to pay an extra buck for each shirt or hat to cover your time and trouble, I'm sure the rest of the members would be happy to do the same. Right guys!!!

I picked up honda euro lights on ebay for like 15.00 and mounted them in my spoiler and added a bulb so they are turn and park.

My 73 with 83 turbo swap runs ruff at idle which I hear is comon. Does it help to put the multi spark MSD on ?
-
He probably did'nt know how much it would cost to ship. It's oversized rate at the post office would be more than it probably cost you. Did you buy it on e-bay? He should have to ship it unless it stated in his sale that he would not. I would put the screws to him make him ship it or maybe offer to split the shipping with him. It can be done.

Yesterday after leaving the beach I pass a 350Z in traffic, not fast or anything, he swerved out right behind me. O.K. you wanna play?.stopped at two lights, we're making our way to the highway. The secound light turns green and the traffic ahead of me opens up just enough, spool up the turbo and I'm gone thread the needle right then immediatly left and put it to the floor. I'm now doing about 85mph as I begin to merg with traffic, the 350 is nowwhere in sight. I move over two lanes quickly and begin to slow down and check my review mirror. Damned if there is'nt a cop about 4 cars back closing in on me! Thoughts in my head,, how many drinks did I have? I feel fine, am I over the legal limmit? Is he really going to pull me over? I check the possition of the 350 and see he is in the breakdown lane 10 cars back and hallin ass. He cuts over 4 lanes in about 200 yards must have been doing 100+, just misses my back end and cuts right in front of the cop!! Of corse the light go on an the cop is on him in secounds. He never had a chance! I first felt relieved that I was issued a reprieve but also felt bad for my fellow Zer. Then as I drove by him pulled over on the side of the freeway I had to laugh and say thanks. Maybe next time I can beat you far and square .

Jersey my tires are 16 225 50's I have not measured the hieght. All I know about the trany is that I believe it came from a mid 70's z. My turbo hits boost by about 3500 and starts loosing power at around 5500 so I,m shifting at 5300-5500, my shifts are not to smooth dew to my trany is a POS. Boost does come back on very quickly so I guess my only probem besides lack of hp is my trany. What should I look for? Bourg Warner? What mods are you running on your car? That goes for you to 240hoke. What cha got in there? I'm thinking besides my problem with my timing maybe I need a better ignition mod MSD 6A? Are you guys using one? I read somewhere that if I hooked my coil up wrong that the car will still run but not get good spark. The blue wire goes to the + and the black to the - on the coil right?
