Thanks for the reply grayzee, the reason I asked was because I'm running the JWT ecu that is reprogramed but did not think it was retarding and that maybe I could find some more power by adding a boost retard to my MSD 6.? Bigbadz if you are going to run high boost I would not use the Volvo inter, it is the plastic one right? it wont handle high pressure and is also not made for high hp applications. If you are planning on high hp, or high boost you don't want to skimp on the IC. I would definitly not use two as you would be adding to much pressure drop through the IC's. To the best of my knollage no one makes IC pipes, most applications are custom depending on the IC. Yes you should run a blow off or you could run into serious problems coming off WOT. I know what a money pit it can become, quickly, but what cost more doing it right the first time or doing it twice? That brings me back to the cam, if you set up your ecu using the n/a cam if you switch to the turbo cam later you will probably need to reprogram you ecu for best results.
-
No one has mentioned the cam. Your n/a cam will not have the proper overlap that the turbo engine runs best on. I'm not sure how much power you will loose but I assume you won't want to loose any. Just a thought. Hey grayzee I was wonderding if you know how the 87+ na z31 ecu knows how to retard under boost, or does it not retard.

How about some pics of cleaned up intake manifolds?
datsunan replied to dat240zg's topic in Fuel Delivery
I'm in the process right now, going to remove the ERG,webbing between the runners, grind off all protruding castings, install new JSK fuel rail, put injector wires in polished stainless runner and remove throttle bar linkage from the top and install a cable system that operates from under the manifold. It sould look reeeaaallly clean by then. I'll post pics here soon. -
I hate bar! Right now I'm running to high on my fp dew to my return lines being to small for my Areo 1000. Its at like 45psi on my gage at idle. I'm in the process of installing A Jsk fuel rail,Areo fpr, and 1/2" lines, not to mention the surge tank! I think maybe I'll turn my tank around again so my lines won't be sticking out anymore like I wanted it from the start. So what is that bar almost 3 at idle? Thanks Tim thats kind what I figured, my only problem with that is that after I bought my Areo 1000 I read the instructions and it said not to run with less than 10 gals of gas for long periods or not longer than 30min on low fuel. This I found out is cause the gas gets to warm and sounds more like rocks going through my fuel pump. So add a 2nd pump=more heat and surge tank =recirculated heated gas= bad.

The thing I don't get is, Ive got this big *** high pressure fuel pump thats going to be supplied buy a small low pressure pump. How does the small pump keep up with the big?
-
Yeh thats what I thought, mine does have the foam and it still starves.
-
Yep, I have the same problem. I now have the Areomotive 1000 fuel pump and the problem is even worse, I can hear my pump starving for fuel under regular driving under braking with almost a full tank. I've got some ideas on how to fix it and I will post when I have it fixed. I know Owen and some others have had to install surge tanks to fix it but it seems like alot of work. I thought thats why these damn cells had sumps to prevent this from happening? Oh well, something else to do!

This may be a stupid question but I dont ungerstand why a wastegate needs to have a spring matched to boost pressure. Is this only needed if you are not using some sort of boost controller and are locked in to one pressure ie the spring rate? If I'm using a boost controller what spring rate should I get? Most of the springs I see are low psi. Thanks Paul.

Hey Tim hows it going with the new shirts? I'm going to Lake havasu for a Z meet next weekend and was hoping to represent. Anyone else going?

What about this as an option for the tight fit spots? Would these flow as good as a round 3"? They aint cheep but then speed costs! http://www.burnsstainless.com/OvalTubing/ovaltubing.html

Maybe you read the thread posted earlier today about 2.5 and 3" down pipe, I have been curious about the best way to go as far a a new down pipe. I fabed my own exhaust to save money but did not replace my DP. Now I plan on doing that and am thinking about redoing the entire exhaust but I am not a designer or engineer of exhaust systems so I will most likly be building it myself again. It seems to me the money that would need to be spent on R and D for a custom exhaust that out flows an exhaust system that is well planned and built would not be worth it for a street/race track car. I have often wondered what power I might be missing out on using my exhaust but who does this kind of tuning and what does it cost? Seems to me if your talking about the manifold the tuning would be very important dew to the heat and velocity but on a turbo charge engine the pulses are all blended by the turbine. So after the tubine I would think it all comes down to, the restiction of flow = less hp and there would not be much need for tuning the rest of the pipe. Yes or no?

So its my understanding that I will not be able to fit a 3" 2x45 in my s30 with a BW t5. Can I go with a 3" 2x90 or would it be better to go with a 2.5 2x45? Nice work on the one you have made, vary interested to see how much you want for them.

I don't know whats up with this. If I see for instance that Owen has posted on the thread "who wants a Hybrid calander" and it has 36 replies, if I go to the last page it is only on post 27 by and it is not Owens post, it is a post from yesterday by Tim but Owen posted today. Same with site support, I posted a Q about post notification it shows up on the opening page as the last post made to site support but when you open all site support threads its not there?

Ok lets do it. How about Tim takes care of getting people to submit pics and decides who and how the voting will take place and other lajistics of getting the cars for the calander. He then informs the people who have been choosen and they are responsible for getting pics and bio to ZHADMAN or sbc 400 to do the layout, he turns it over to JKDgabe for printing. Everyone down with that? I think we may need 2 extra cars selected in case people who get voted for don't come through with final hi res pics. Lets get it going soon or it will be tuff to complete by 06. Sorry I don't have anything but motivation to offer this project. Well I got some cash if that would help!

Can I still get notified of repies to post I'm involved in? How so if so?

Torqueing polyurethane bushings...
datsunan replied to patzky1's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
When I first put mine in I just snugged them down but I got knocking and creaking from the front end. Then I found that they were to be torqued to (I'm pretty sure it was) 25pds. All the noise went away. Good luck, Paul -
Our Z club talked about doing this but never did, I love the Idea and would be interested in putting ZJAWZ up for nomination as soon as the details get sorted out. Tim can we post high res pics here or would we need a host or some other way to compile pics?

floorboard welding advice needed
datsunan replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Make sure both peaces being welded are ground clean on both sides a minimum of 1 inch from where you are welding or it will flame up and you will not get a good weld. If you are welding from under the car have someone standing by with an exstiguisher. -
Currently I'm torn about weather I like the JWT system I have, 400hp upgraded 88 na z31 ecu. Plug and play is great but I am having problems getting a smooth idle. At first I blamed it on the ecu but I'm not sure thats my problem. My system is a little shy of the hp stated by jwt. It should be putting out 350hp on 91oct and 400hp on race fuel, last dyno was 320fwhp. I would like to find more power but until talking to Bernardd did not know I could reprogram my ecu. You need about $300 bucks for the burner and another $70 if you want to erase and reburn. I'm thinking of keeping my chip from jwt and reprogrming another, that way I can put the jwt chip back in if and when I can't get it to run any better. Don't exspect to get much help from JWT after your purchase, I find there sevice to be poor to none. The original install is fairly simple and did run well off the bat.

Hey rustrocket I see you have some Stone beer on your shelf but did not mention it as a fav. That is some of my favorite beers, smoked porter, the bastard, IPA. Anderson Valley makes great beer also. Gotta love the micro beer revolution!

Yeh I've thought about using a surfboard skeg with a CB antenna magnet on it, that way I could take it off sometimes. I'm also planning on having the jaws move chomp!!chomp!!
-
"We're just going to rebuild" is what they allways say after any natural disaster. Why don't you move and buy somewhere that you won't get killed!

I came up with this theme befor even starting my restoration. Some people see it but not everyone knows that its a shark, and not just any shark ZJAWZ is my personalized plate. Things to note; blacked out headlight buckets for "shark eyes", teeth in grill, gills behind front wheels, nostrils in hood scoop. I wanted to post this a long time ago but had problems with posting pics.
