  1. Sorry John but, HELL NO! It was way to time consuming, I would have to charge like $700 to make it worth my while. I supose it would not be to bad if I had not had to make the dp angles by cutting and welding the peaces together. But then again the cost of materials would go up if I had to buy 3" stainless mandrel bends. Auxilary, the large flex is off a older turbo diesel Mec, It even has some nice band clamps on either side of the flex if wanted to cut and weld the flanges that it used, and the smaller is made of Cool Flex radiator hose. I had picked up a 1" in dia. flex off a non turbo mec but it was a little small for the WG. we have.
  2. Its almost done still need to weld on the bung for the o2 and get a flare for the connection to my exhaust pipe. Hope it works, I put alot of time and thought into making it. Installed flex connectors on both dp and wg dump pipe to absorb thermal expantion. Found a 3" v-band clamp at work that need some minor modification but should work out great. Can't wait to see the performance improvements, hope it is worth the work!
  3. 3" dp stainless, flex con. V-band clamp and external WG dump pipe
  4. 40mm WG with flex joint and 3" dp stainless

  6. Yeh its a wierd thread. I tried to find something to convert it so I could hook a gauge to it but never found one. I plan on converting it to standard threads by tapping the t-block to a larger more common thread.
  7. Ahh Yeh! That makes me even more frustrated with my one car shi@ hole of a garage that I can only fit a Z in. I can't start my GTO restore till I remodel my house but I can't remold my garage cause it is now part of the new set back changes.
  8. The middle one is from a 300 deisel merc, it was not a turbo I don't know why they used it but it went between the intake and the exhaust, it is aboutt 2.5" long and 1" id. Not all of them have it, only about 1/4 of the ones I saw in the yard.
  9. Hey Tim I went to the JY today and found a couple of diff flex joints. I think I'm going to use the one with the angle on it, if you want the other one I will send it to you or I can get you the same one I will be using. They came off Mercedes one was turbo and the other was not, both diesels. The large dia. flex I'm going to use off the turbine outlet befor my DP. I found a V-band clamp at work that fits the flex almost perfectly, it should be sweet when I'm done as it will all be stainless. I also got my new Tial 40 mm WG today. Man this thing is huge, I thought I was going to drop some wieght buy getting rid of that heave Dp but the WG is going to put it right back on. Oh well let me know if you want any of this stuff I can get all of it. Paul
  10. Hey Mike let us know when you get that tank in and if it works. I'd sell my POS to get that one. When are you going to be getting it? Paul
  11. My tank is the same as Tims. If you notice the sump is angled, this allows the gas to move foward very easy. I would make a sump square with no slope this would help alot. Yes my tank has foam and it does not stop it from starving.
  12. I don't know how to do baffles that work but if you going through the trouble to build your own tank you will defenitly want to reseach what it takes to prevent your pump from starving under break or accel. Many of us have bought fuel cells that have a sump in them but still starve under lateral g's in many directions. It is very anouying and if your boosting and it happens it could be very detrimental to your internals. And I'm not talking about your bowels!
  13. I'v got the same thing going on in my garage. Started with a new fuel pump and could not control fuel pressure, so, install larger lines, may as well put in a new FPR and JSK fuel rail. That fuel rail is really going to clean up my intake manifold, I think I'll cut off my EGR and EVERYTHING else that I'm not using, to much work to do it to my turbo manifold so I bought a mani fom a 77 280 much easier to clean off. Cut off all cast marks and screw holes I don't need grind it down and polish it. I wanna see how clean I can get it so I cut off the linkage for the throttle and I'm running it down the side of the mani, that means I need to flip the throttle body over so the stem is now pointing at the driver side shock tower and my TPS is on the inside of the TB. That looks much better. I though I was doing my fuel system? I have had problems with my engine starving for fuel under hard braking so I should fab up a surge tank, since I'm fabing a surge tank I don't need my sump sticking out the back anymore, I can turn my fuel cell around now. Oh did I forget to mention that my boost was not stable so I wanted to put in an external wastegate, may as well put in a new 3" down pipe while I'm here! My wife said something about me having A.D.D. but I was buisy doing three other things and could not understand what she was saying.
  14. Ive been looking for this type of flex pipe for my WG dump. I only found one place that had them and they wanted $300 for it. What is everyone using to absorbe thermal expansion if not these? Thanks Paul.
  15. Thanks guys, Clifton I think thats my problem with my stock wastegate, I can hit about 17psi like a spike but it can't hold it there. Is that set up you have on a z? I see the oil filter hanging outon the same side as your exhaust. If it is a Z how is it handling the 18 psi? No problem? Are your mods similar to mine. Slowandrusty I'm sold on the Tial that is a nice unit. I just bought the one I posted above with a 1bar spring, so now at least I'll get 14psi steady all the time!
  16. Did you use any kind of flex joint in the waste pipe between the wg and exhaust pipe? If so where can I buy that?
  17. Thanks Doug the just the kid of response I was looking for. I was actually looking at a Tia on ebay, I'm all about good quality. Is this like the one you have? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7955990067&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT Is this the flang you used? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7957610176&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Thanks for the reply Paul
  18. I was'nt so concerned with the dumping of exhaust gas as I was of bleeding off the pressure to the wg that controls the opening and closing. But you bring up a good point. That adds even more questions to the proper sizing of the wg. I don't get stable boost even with a high tech controller. I'm willing to spend time and money one an external wg but I want it to work the first time. Any other suggestions?
  19. I'm in the process of changing to an external WG, I've been looking at the different WG's out there and they come with different spring ranges depending on what boost you want to run. I have an Apexi boost controller and usually run 14 psi. So, if I get a wg with a 10 psi spring that means it won't ever open untill it hits 10 psi regaurdless of my controller. If I use a 6psi spring then it would start opening somewhere around 6 and my controller would have to start working earlier than if I used the 10psi spring. So my question is, could I run out of control with my apexi if I use a light spring say 6psi and want to run 20psi boost? The controller would start bleeding off air at 6psi and have to increase bleed rate all the way up to 20 and then some. (if my turbo is capable of 20+)Would I get better control of high boost using a higher spring rate? Any input would be appriciated.
  20. Yeh I was looking at that one but was not sure thats what I needed, now that auction is over and he has not listed anymore. Is that for sure what we need? I'm also using the t3/t4.
  21. I'm looking for a source for a flange that will eliminate the internal wastegate and allow me to weld up a 3'' dp. It does not need to be stainless as I will be ceramic coating it.
  22. Het Tim I tried to post earlier but my system crashed and it did'nt go through. I had given some extra $ when I gave you my order but I don't know if it was enough to cover the extra cost of the new transfers. If it was not enough please let me know so I can make it up to you, don't short change yourself. Thanks alot for all your hard work getting this cool gear together for us. Paul
  23. Hey Tim its been a while since I ordered and I have CRS(can't remeber ****). If I didn't order one befor I would like one and I will send you money as soon as you can tell me if I can have one or if I already ordered one. I'll be looking for for post. Please let me know what they cost you, I know there was a problem with the cost, I'm willing to pay whatever increase you were eating. Thanks Paul
