  1. Kudos for using the search function! You avoided the #1 pitfall of new HybridZ users. But, since he hasn't logged on since 2010, you may be waiting a while for that PM.
  2. I agree with Curtball, there's no way I can see to match that style to the car's lines. However, that being said, I'm happy to see new products coming to market for the z cars, even if they're not my style.
  3. From an 82 s130 Turbo, weights taken from a bathroom scale: Rear hatch, complete, with wiper and rear sprayer: 46 lbs Rear hatch glass: 22 lbs Rear hatch frame: 16 lbs Rear wiper motor and arm: 4 lbs Rear hatch weatherstrip & trim: 2 lbs Interior trim, latch, misc: 2 lbs
  4. True, you'd have to do some strengthening where they mount, as well as making sure all 4 were at the same mounted height.
  5. AP Racing has a set. At around 1kg apiece, they're not terribly heavy, nor prohibitively expensive. Only has a maximum of 310mm stroke, though, so you'd have to be pretty low.
  6. So I had a little time to kill at work and drew up a new emblem for the hatch of my Z since the 280 was no longer accurate. A half hour later it was printed out. It's soaking now to remove the support material, then I'll smooth it out and give it a coat of paint. On a somewhat related note, here are some that I did for my Pininfarina Azurra. These were CNC'd from brushed aluminum so a totally different process. Glove box emblem Matching key chain
  7. That sounds like the reverse of one I saw at a local Z show.
  8. Thanks. I unplugged the clutch switch and tested it. It seems to be working good. The starter relay is also good. The only other thing I can think of is the ignition switch itself. I am going to rig up a push button starter (Rice, rice, baby....) and go with that since it starts fine when a signal is applied to the starter.
  9. I have an 86 that I just bought. It is a non-turbo with a manual transmission, no anti-theft system. This morning the car would not crank, though the battery had plenty of juice. All the accessories would turn off like normal when the key was turned. I was able to get the car to start by crawling under it and jumping the terminals on the starter and the solenoid, so it's not the starter itself. At this point my best guess is the clutch switch though it is at least functioning visually. Is there something else I am missing that could be causing it not to kick the starter on? Thanks, Austen
  10. There was a user on here a couple years ago that had a white first gen. The headlights had white covers with roundd driving lights mounted in the upper grill opening. It looked really sexy. The car had wire wheels with knockoffs. Does anyone remember this car?
  11. In Colorado, the Ford Probe seems to be the dominant car. Maybe that's the two door fastback you were talking about? Our Hornets started with a similar claim rule, which I am not a fan of. People from the stands would buy the winner and after a season no one had a car left. They changed the rules so that only the top 3 could be claimed and only by a driver in the same race, so the cars were simply swapped. Seems to be working a lot better.
  12. I don't know of anyone specific but I am sure it won't take more than a couple calls to custom shops in the phone book before you find someone. If you're not too attached to that particular car, I would say by far the easiest and cheapest way would be to buy one that has already had the swap done.
  13. As stated, this is old technology. It has been in use in Colorado for years, and is specifically authorized by statutes. Since tags are in plain view, reasonable suspicion isn't required. On a side note, the current system also runs a clearance on the registered owners and gets associated warrant hits. It is a common occurance to gather a group of 5-10 troopers and one of these systems on the side of the interstate. An hour later the operation will be over, simply because everyone that was working has made an arrest.
  14. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=133229&highlight=tweel http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=107469&highlight=tweel Posted over 2 years ago, but still a cool idea.
  15. Quite a life, and he was only 64. http://www.lhm.com/ http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-obit-miller&prov=ap&type=lgns
  16. I will definitely be there. I hope the girlfriend doesn't get sick of Z events between this and ZCON down in Texas.
  17. You can do your own with enough time. I did this one of a 280zx (don't know what model you need) with Ms Paint. It would be even easier with access to photoshop or another graphics program.
  18. Look into shipping through Greyhound Bus Lines. They ship things cheap (I had a hood delivered cross-country for $30, IIRC) and nearly everyone is within a short distance of a terminal.
  19. Personally, I think that Cadillac is moving in the right direction with their V series cars. I used to work at a Gm dealership and drove several of them and even the large sedans were enough to put a smile on your face. Definitely not "your daddy's Cadillac". I think the XLR-V is one of the sexiest cars in production: For exactly $100k you can own one too.
  20. That is how it is in Colorado and it has caused some problems. There are thieves out there that will steal a trailer, and then re-register it as a 'homemade' and affix the new vin. A little grinding and painting of the old vin and the trailer is virtually untracable. One home that was raided had approximately 20 of these stolen trailers and a stack of about 80 VIN tags that hadn't been affixed to a trailer yet. He would steal a trailer and have the new tag put on in a matter of minutes.
  21. I can't believe... how many different screen wipes they used in that video. Towards the end I found myself paying more attention to them than the car. At least he got the kids helping on the build.
  22. That is wrong in so many ways. If I were involved, I'd be wearing a ski mask to hide my identity like the guy behind the forklift.
  23. Looks good. I was actually wondering how a Camaro circle-track bumper could be reworked to fit a Z. It looks similar to your design but a more pronounced shape: http://www.performancebodies.com/store/product.asp?dept%5Fid=1240&pf%5Fid=PER18B I am sure the dimensions are quite a bit off, though.
  24. Thank you. It has a 4" Rancho lift. Just enough to give it some attitude, but still low enough that the girlfriend can get in... with some effort. I was originally looking for a black one. I wasn't crazy about having a red truck, but it's definitely starting to grow on me. There's not a scratch or dent on it either.
  25. You, sir, are correct. The last 2 are breck and the first one is right off of I-70. It's not nearly as nice as your Z so I have to throw in some scenery to make up for it.
