  1. If you look at the picture above you will see that part of the shoud does overlap onto the plastic part of the tank, and yes I did cut it up a little to make it fit. Running against the grain I mounted mine to the radiator, but to keep the mounting straws from rubbing a hole in the radiator and causing a leak I insulated them with tubing carefully placed through the radiator. The other day it was 100 degrees and humid as it gets. So I thought to see how hot I could get things. I ran it hard and the temp gauge just stayed where it always does. The JTR radiator with the Taurus fan is awesome and extremely light. If you need some pic of the way I ended up installing the fan just PM me and I try to get you some better detail.
  2. If you have to you could have a new harness made that supports the newer computers. I have an extra 99 computer that I programed as a backup for mine that I would let you borrow if you go that route. Unfortunatly the 98 harness wont work with the 99 on up stuff because the pinouts are different. Mine has no BCM, EGR, AIR, rear O2's or any other emission related stuff on it and it was a snap to hook up (got it from Speartech). By the way, are you running the fly by wire Throttle body?
  3. If the maf and cps are unplugged the engine should start in limp mode.
  4. The rod bolts are a week spot and keep you from spinning it past 6500 and once you start mods it can get expensive. You can get a good reliable 400 RWHP with the stock heads but you have to upgrade the springs, retainers, pushrods, and intake (youve got the old LS1 intake). Alot of guys on LS1Tech have gone the TR224 cam route with 918 springs and titanium retainers, long tubes, LS6 intake, ported throttle body, pulley, dyno tune, and hit the 400 mark. I think supercharger too and have an LS6 block out for maching right now. Soon to be all forged internals and a stroker crank for 383. If funds allow I'll go the roots path as it fits neatly in place of the intake and will really pump up the volume. For heads it looks to me like the 215cc trick flow heads are the ticket. I think they run like around 2300 from TEA. 5. Looks alot like mine did. My sunroof leaked and needed just to have the bolts tightened to fix it. Looks like a good deal for 500 bucks, I'm jealous! Keep us informed on your progress.
  6. That sounds really stout Dale! I love that sound!
  7. It's really loud in the car, but the fumes don't get in like they did with the old tailpipe. I also makes a great leaf blower for the driveway!
  8. Here's a couple of second rate quality sound files of the LS1 in my 280Z. The idle is set at 875 and the mufflers are dual 18" long 2 1/2" dia magnaflow bullets dumping just before the axle. The waves were made with a voice recorder sitting in the passenger seat and the sensitivity was set as low as it would go. The first file is just startup and idle. The second is a 10 mph to 70 mph run that started going sideways in second so I got off it. Gee, that was fun! http://www.circuitflex.com/Car_Sounds/Start_Up.wav http://www.circuitflex.com/Car_Sounds/First_and_Second.wav
  9. I say Hard Anodize it the color of your choice. I have a small setup for anodizing at work and it's really not that hard but its a really hard matte surface that would be awesome in the Z. Do a google on anodizing aluminum. I use 10% H2S04 that I cool to 40 degrees with 2 aluminum cathodes and a 50 amp rectifier. You can do the same with a double boiler setup using garbage cans, Ice and a car battery or charger. Maybe if Z dreamland was close enough you could use my setup, you would just have to get some dye and a container large enough for the dash.
  10. Magnaflow 18" bullet type true dual's that dump before the axle on mine. The cam is real pronounced with a good strong lope at 900 rpm. Full throttle will rock your world. I'll try to get a sound clip tomorrow on the way to work. To me the flowmasters sound like muffled cans with a little pop. The Magnaflow's are straight though and have a very deep sound to them, much better than the flowmaster in my opinion. EDIT: Look like it will be another day on the sound clip, the traffic was too bad to really make it scream so I'll try again tomorrow.
  11. They got me last year, I only had 4 but they hurt like all get out. Yellowjackets live in the ground. The sound didn't help, but you got too close to the nest.
  12. Here's a link to a spreadsheet I compiled from information taken from J-Rod's post's over on LS1Tech.com. I wrote to help with choosing a cam, head gasket, pistons, and stroke to use with my AS stage II heads. It puts all the info there in an easy to alter format. Have fun. http://www.circuitflex.com/Compression.xls

  14. She's taken the driving course at Road Atlanta, likes motorcycles and cars. I was impressed. She was made in Japan, raised and lived in Ireland and has been stateside for about 4 years.
  15. I met a woman tonight that I really enjoyed being with, infact we were together for 5 hours today and it felt like we were really connecting. Conversation was very natural and very enjoyable. Then we ended up talking on the phone for 2 more hours and it seemed like 10 minutes. Ever done this before? Where did it lead?
  16. I see the light. I am very easy to fool, and I feel lucky that these guy's didn't take me for more than they did. Personally I'm forgetting about Pinks and I am not going to watch the show that we are in. If it comes on I'll turn it off. Thanks Mike, Dan, Dr. Hunt, Cozy Cole. You guy's really came through when it counted.
  17. Happy birthday Mike! Oh and all yall are a bunch of whipper snappers compared to me! Enjoy 40 while ye may! Cuz at 50 stuff starts hurtin.
  18. That will be so Bad A$$! Based on what the LS1 in mine does to a 280 I would recommend some frame mod's for sure. That baby will twist and shout!
  19. So he's banned? What's going on here? Why has this gotten so out of hand? I say forget this whole pinks thing and building any other group effort and get back to the sane hobby forum it used to be. If we race again it will just be asking for trouble. Kill it while we can.
  20. It would crack it you soldered it, I'm sure that Mike would braze it.
  21. Copper conducts heat much better than aluminum. But so does silver. Here's a link with some numbers. http://www.engineersedge.com/properties_of_metals.htm
  22. That's the truth. When I made the change from the 195/70 13's to 245/45 18's the car took on a whole new meaning. It still looses traction above 4500 rpm in 1st and goes sideways in second. And the car weights about 2800. You need D/R's, so do I.
