  1. Problem with running thick or thin head gaskets is it effects quench clearance so much.. not an ideal situation.. getting the head surfaced right where you want it while accounting for head gasket thickness you can account for quench.. Do your pistons have a positive or negative deck clearance?
  2. looks like low 700's at 25psi?? Hard to see on my phone Great power, time for more turbo!! Glad it's holding up..
  3. I'm surprised you have enough piston to valve clearance to take that much off the head. What kinda quench clearance you run?
  4. Decked the head 2mm!!! I assume that's a typo..lol I'd be skeptical of anything claimed to be built by Jun or any other high end Japanese tuner, stuffs pretty rare over here.. unless you were there yourself, I remember you being Military. Hopefully you get it all worked out, I just got off the dyno again a week ago, just made 800whp!! Mines been pretty trouble free for 6 years, hopefully it stays that way
  5. What are you having machined? I have had a head and a block done locally, didn't seem like anything out of the normal when they did it.
  6. So, what did you end up doing?
  7. Yeah see i'm still not buying that, the engine i had them in had a fresh cylinder head.. I could see the additional ring seal causing intake valve guide seals to leak more, but my smoking issue wasn't really happening on decel or idle much at all from what i can remember. However i will admit, i'm not sure if the bore was finished to what they recommend.
  8. Yeah let us know what you hear, hopefully they don't try and blow smoke up your ass.. I just don't want to see you have issues.
  9. They sell and manufacture OEM style rings and custom rings as well, so surely there not relying on gapless ring sales. There is a reason EVERY piston manufacture recommends the 2nd ring gap to be larger than the first.. I think you should try the gapless top.. I've contemplated trying the gapless top ring but that small ring that seals over it worry's me.. its so tiny and thin, Its like part of an oil control ring on top..eek!! FYI, i recently did a leakdown test on my motor, its been in the car since 09 and has seen some abuse. I really rattled it a while ago and lost a head gasket.. i did a leakdown test prior to replacing the head gasket... it was less than 3 percent on a cold engine.. impressive to say the least. I just hope you don't have issues, if you are contemplating changing, now is the time!!
  10. good luck hopefully they work out for you, i guess i just don't see the difference big boost makes to the situation.
  11. I had smoking issues, it would smoke blue all the time.. my friend had the exact issue, these were both in 400hp honda engines.. years ago. The 2nd ring is an oil scraper not a compression ring, all a gapless 2nd is going to do is trap pressure between the 2nd and top ring.. Having a gapless top makes more sense Imo, search it I'm not the only one that had issues... people dislike the gapless 2nd..
  12. Gapless 2nd ring? i tried those years ago on another engine and had nothing but trouble with it. Hopefully you dont have an issue, never understood why they make gapless 2nds What head gasket are you using?
  13. what rods are you using? Looks like same pistons yeah?
  14. I caught mine, not real sure how long it was doing it, but had been to the track a few times and quite a few beatings on the street.. I pulled #1 & #6 rod cap to inspect when I swapped pans, they looked fine still.. Royal Purple FTW
  15. I can't imagine how bad yours was, I starved mine a few times from 2nd/3rd gear roll in's on the street with about 650whp (only when the car hooked it) which depended on the surface it seemed..
  16. Sweet, should be happy with consistent oil pressure
  17. What's the baffles inside the pan look like?
  18. Shifters between R33 and R34 transmissions are different.. You would need to swap this part if you wanted to keep the R33 shifter... Id imagine you could also mod or buy the shifter bushing
  19. i converted my Neo trans to push, it was very easy to do.
  20. Pull type rb25 has better updated synchros like the R33 Gtr trannies.
  21. ^^ he was messing around hasn't hit the dyno.. Have the other issues cleared up?
  22. Bastard!! I made simular power with my RB25 except the torque I was excited for ya.
  23. No need for an aftermarket regulator unless you want to turn up the boost ( most people want to do that!!) Regulators are nice, but if your at the point to were you need injectors for you target power level, just buy the appropriate injector size and leave the stock regulator, saves ya some money that way. most injectors are close to the same price up until you get to around 1000cc. But on the other hand regulators are somewhat cheap, and if you only turning up the boost a bit, getting an adjustible regulator will generally get you enough fuel.
  24. make sure its not pinging or suffering from any detonation, that will destroy a head gasket quickly, among other things.
  25. Holy Torque!! What fuel? Post that graph!! That turbo is maxxed!!
