  1. i havent put the bumper on yet, lol i took off the old one and like it without the bumper. I dont know what I am going to do with it I may or not put it on.
  2. I dk, at our shop we do lots of head gaskets and we leave the shortblock in the car. the v8's arent too bad actually as long as you have someone to help you drop it back it in and take it off. To be honest most v6 engines are harder than the v8's imo. but it is true it is easier with the engine out especially if the engine is already out. GL
  3. yea I have a manual 280zx so I wont need all of that. I also work at a shop so yes I still have to put some money out but my cost is tons cheaper than over the counter . Also with the money I can get from parting out my auto I can have most of the money for the swap I want =D (or paint lol). Also the tuning program will be a GM one; my friend is a professor at a local college with hookups on that software and everything you need for it. He did an LT1 swap in a zx a year ago with a student of his so he is familiar with everything.
  4. have you checked your relays? or did you bypass those with the swap?
  5. yea I still haven't been able to get the autocad from anyone. If someone can send it to me I can see what I can do with our machine shop guy.
  6. yea thats what I was thinking, i have the mounts in the auto already =D, and the engine is free. plus everything custom done will be semi free(no labor fees) and I work at a shop. i think what i will do is take the 350 and mod it while finding a manual transmission and then eventually drop it into the manual zx I own. So i will jsut be parting out the auto shell. Thanks for the Help!
  7. yea that is true I have known ppl who have built them right as well...what about crank walk though? that seems a common problem. I guess if you built and tuned it correctly that wont be a problem?
  8. imo the 4g63 break a lot unless they are the evo version. I have had too many friends build these, get them tuned and they blow up...or they get an oem rebuild and they break. jsut my 2cents I have never personally owned one although I would love a galant vr-4 there is just something about that dark green sexiness that catches my eye......
  9. ok this may seem a dumb question but I can get a feree rebuilt 350 and turbo 350 transmission from my dad and I jsut bought an auto 81 2+2 s130 with v8 mounts in it. Now what I want to know is an auto v8 Z fun to drive? I am a stick guy and not an auto by any means but.....it is tempting seeing as how i could DD my 83 na zx and then play with this other one but it is a 2+2 so its heavier as well =(...... Im just not sure what to do, build the 350 and go efi + a manual trans(which this will happen over time) or go stock 350 and use an auto. I love to cruise the hill country and would love to have a car I could go to drift or auto cross stuff with and maybe the 1/4 although it is way too hard on a car for only 13 seconds worth of fun imo. any help or suggestions would be great! thanks! (O and the swap wont be a problem cause I have a friend who is going to teach me how to do everything he is a professor at a local college and knows how to do everything).
  10. nvm i just realized wrong year car...unless a 81 radiator support will work on your car then I have one.
  11. im actually taking an 81 2+2 front bumper and putting it on my 83 coupe right now. i am having to take off or bend a couple metal pieces that the second part of the 83 fender screws into. other than that it is a direct fit.
  12. If you live near, in or around san antonio texas and want to do some cruising, swap parts or w/e sign in. I own a 83 280zx and a 81 2+2.....if i can get the title for the 2+2(it is lost) then i will drop in a 350 and a th350 into it...the other is going to be a dd.

  14. ok is the spark regular or erratic? ais it cranking or is nothing happening? can you hear the fuel pump trying to engage when the key is turned to on? I am getting spark from my distributor but it is a random and erratic spark so the car wont start or idle correctly. more details please.

  16. yea i wouldnt grind anything....I know this is old but i would shorten up the flanges tat are holding the exhaust up. cut and rebend them or work something out but do not grind anything down that you arent sure what it is...
  17. Hey I am parting out a 2+2....I have lots and lots of stuff from it. I bought it for only a few parts and now I am stripping it. Let me know what you need and if you buy a bunch it will be cheaper on the shipping. I will also posting everything up on craigslist.
  18. k i sent cockerstar a pm; coldfusion did not work =(. I will take this blue print over to the machine shop as soon as i get it and see what he can do for the flange.
  19. Hmm...I will go talk to my buddies fabricator and see what he can do. He wont need one to go one of off, He will jsut custoom everything and he is really good. His base price for a honda B series is around 350 I believe. He hand does everything so Im not sure how he will lower a group purchase but I will ask. Second, My buddies whole family are welders, I am going to try and find all the fitments I need to get a custom one done by them. If anything I can get them to do a mockup and then send that to ssauto or some other company. If anyone has a link for the manifold flange please let me know. The turbo flange and piping are not hard to find.
  20. nope not yet, i am getting my car up and running with the stock engine; then on the side modifying the 3.8 sc and getttign everything ready for a smooth install. that is if i dont jsut trubo my car, my buddy has a sick custom built prescesion turbo he wants to sell me so well see.
  21. not to be mean but i searched for megasquirt and didnt find any of that . I did do a google search....I id post my year and that I am NA.....geez, lol. I did list my injector into google and they didnt pop up anything =(, I typed in everything I could think of for injector and didnt get anything back. I am learning about these cars so certain keywords I may not know to put in there to searh with. However somethings I do know and put in and I didnt find anything =(. I guess what I may need to do is go through all 12 pages....I think we need to get the search revised though. that megasquirt thread is awesome and should pop up in the first page of results whenever you type in megasquirt. Thanks for all the info guys! I dont expect spoon feeding =D I do get frustrated whenever I search for over a couple hours and dont find what I need. Thanks for the help though!!!!
  22. Ok i used "EV-1 connectors that the Bosch L-Jetronic system uses" quote from you and found out some cars that had them. bmw E12 5 series, varius 3 series. 84-89 300zxs as well as some others but these should be common enough to find in a junkyard for people.
