  6. So in what surely can only be described as a complete act of idiocy, I decided to rebuild my 200sx rear calipers when I had them powder coated. I was inclined to do this as I was doing my front S12+8 and it "seemed" like a good idea at the time. These were Rock Auto rebuild specials that I got for like $30 They came apart easy enough: So at this point... right here: My spider sense SHOULD have been tingling... see that roller bearing in there? Here let me help out a little: it's part number 44130 in this diagram courtesy of Courtesy Nissan (NLA). It is a VERY special little bearing... one that is obviously expensive as later rebuilders bypassed replacing it and used bronze: So I know what you are thinking... why didn't he just leave them in there... I mean did they NEED to come out? So this is yet another thing that I have made peace with myself by pretending that the previous owner had done this. All of this brings me to my question for the forum: Any one ever replace this before? Here are some better pictures of the sizes of the parts in question: Powder coated caliper bodies are lonely:
  7. Am I the only one that RFOL at 1:19? For some reason that picture does not mesh with the Merc that I remember my Grandmother owning. She certainly never pushed hers that hard... er... wait... she could have driven around with the pylon in there and not know it. Love ya Grams! Jay

  9. Tim, Read the EULA (End User License Agreement) that comes with the "student" versions. I think in most cases you are "technically" prohibited from using the software for commercial use. Jay

  14. My first Z (75 280) had the jury-rigged bungee cord battery hold downs. First time I went out and got on it a little bit, it quit. Being young and relatively new to cars, I tried to just restart it... nothing but a bunch of smoke. Next I tried to pop the hood, it suddenly weighed about 30 lbs more. Seems that as it took one of the turns to hard, the bungees slipped and the battery bumped up and the terminals had both hit the hood and spot welded themselves to it. The smoke was a the positive battery cable melting or maybe it was the battery... due to the horror of it all, I think I blocked most of what I saw after realizing what I had done. Glad I can laugh (?) at it all now... I think the car hated me after that... no actually I'm sure she did... Jay

  18. Gord, Were your floorpans from Zed Findings? Do you have any closeups of where you trimmed along the trans tunnel? I've been chickening out on patching mine, my 72 is orange and looks very similar to where you just patched (except you have a battery box/firewall where as I do not). I've had the Zeds and a fullset of Bad dogs for like 6 months... just can't seem to get out there and get them in. Thanks, Jay
  19. Jerry, For those of us with 240z and 1975 280z (FI) gas tanks would these fit? Thanks, Jay
