  3. Hey guys, its been asked on this forum about long tube headers for our LSx powered S30's several times. There are those that have the skill and have successfully made their own, but don't seem to want to reproduce them for profit. Due to the frequent questions on the subject to myself, Hybridz, LS1Tech, etc I have decided that if there is enough interest (5 or more sets) I will have a prototype set built and have them copied/reproduced for resale. These will be made of stainless steel with 1/2" header flanges, 1 7/8" primaries, 3" collectors, O2 bungs in each collector, and use a V-band for the collectors (leak proof). These will offer excellent spark plug wire clearence and well as 'hugging' pretty close to the floor for maximum ground clearence without causing carpet to burn or shoes to melt. These will be used with the JCI LSx mounting kit btw. Long tube headers will make AT LEAST 20+ rwhp more that the current aftermarket choices available which aren't much better than stock manifolds IMHO. Many folks are limited to smaller cam choices due to the lack of long tube headers available. Of course being made from stainless steel is a nice bonus too. If this goes according to plan, headpipes with 'H' or 'X' pipes in 2.5" diameter (also in stainless steel) will also be offered. The headpipes will end just in front of the forward diff crossmember allowing the customer the choice of continuing with dual exhaust (one on each side with something than a stock S30 gas tank), or merging into a single pipe for a stock location muffler. These will include a manual cutout feature as well. These will fit both 4L60e and T-56 transmissions (may need a prototype car for the T-56 fitment). The headpipes will run about $250 with the cutouts installed and sold with or without the purchase of a set headers. I am sure everyone is wondering the big question...how much for the headers? It will all depend on my header suppler on what the cost is going to be per set to reproduce them. I don't have an exact figure....yet. What I can tell you is they will be AT LEAST $500+ a pair, but shouldn't be more than $750 per pair (waiting to hear back). I know there has been alot of folks that promise the moon and the stars (with headers and other things) and nothing ever comes from it. Those who know me personally and/or professionally know that I am not the sort to NOT follow-through on a project, especially when it comes to customers. Lastly, since I am just gauging interest at this time, I am NOT accepting money/deposits. When I have a prototype set completed and a final cost for production sets, then I will start collecting deposits/payments. So LSx S30 guys, what do you think? Thanks for reading!!
  4. It looks cool, but I can see that its going to be pretty pricey and guys here not bothering with they can get the JTR intake setup for less than $100 shipped.
  5. Another run at the top.... I need to figure something out to keep the fumes at bay....
  6. Looks great so far dude, if these work out (and have decent ground clearence) do you plan on making anymore to possibly sell? I would love to have long tubes over my shorties, especially since I know I am leaving alot on the table with my cammed 6.0 litre...
  7. I told you JCI's wasn't bad in price vs other aftermarket companies . The next cheapest is Kwik Performane, but their A/C bracket won't work in a S30 without some serious mods on the passenger side strut tower.
  8. Alittle late on the draw Ken.... I already posted that link yesterday.
  9. No problem my friend. I hope you and your boss find what you are looking for.
  10. Apparently you didn't look too hard, I found it on the second page in the LS forum in under a min.... http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/82026-jci-ac-mount-alignment-issues/
  11. Then your boss might be going w/o A/C, unless you plan on copying JCI's bracket setup and making your own (which what I suspected in your initial post since you wanted pics). JCI's isn't that expensive compared to most other aftermarket accessory brackets, not to mention it includes the compressor. Besides, JCI's setup is the ONLY one I know of that works with S30's w/o any strut tower mods, etc. Since they have the only one of its kind they could be charging more for the setup and folks would still pay for it.
  12. Its a high driver side mounting position using a Sanden style compressor (508 if memory serves). It requires F-Body water pump, crank pulley, alternator bracket, and matching belt tensioner and idler. Several members have posted pics in this sub-forum, just need to some searching. I am going to make my own brackets using similar brackets, however mind have to be custom build to line up with the rest of my modified accessories/brackets. Otherwise I would just buy JCI's, less hassle....
  13. I am running factory hoses that I modified. The lower hose I just shortened. The upper hose I cut a section of the center of the hose and spliced back together using an aluminum coupler (1.5" diameter) with a 1/8" pipe fitting for my steam vent. I got mine iff eBay for $10 shipped.
  14. That would be my guess... Even though he doesnt have the heads and/or compression to support it with a stock LS1...
  15. I should note that I am running a Lincoln Mark VIII electric fan that I picked up off eBay for $50 shipped with my JTR radiator kit.
  16. I bet you would have better luck if you did a search over at LS1Tech.com. Just a note, piston to valve has more to do with cam duration and lobe seperation vs total valve lift. Typically its the exhaust valve that has the most issue since the piston is 'chasing' the exhaust valve as it closes.
  17. I imagine there are a couple of reasons the manifolds are doing better than the 'log' style manifolds you were running prior. First, the longer runners for each port allows the exhaust to speed out of the combustion chamber easier/smoother vs the stubby connections. Second, the cast iron manifolds will contain heat better than the log manifolds since turbo(s) need that heat for the turbine, especially during spooling.
  18. How much were the C6 exhaust manifolds? I have been kicking around the idea of turbo'ing my LQ4, but I want A/C for next summer. So if I were to do this I would have to place the turbo on the passenger side to allow the use of JCI's A/C setup. I have also considered two smaller turbos like GT25's, but the extra piping might not save me any space.
  19. Custom tail lights, they came with clear lenses which I never cared for, so I bought some Krylon Stained Glass paint (transparent red) and changed them to red.
  20. Two 5/16" bolts with nylon lock nuts and fender washers on the end of each fender. Did the last S30 the same way.
