  1. Hmmm, I swear I replied to Desert Dog's post but it ain't here... Anyway, I can't rebuild the current motor as I have no other daily driver at the moment. It's cool, I'll just wait it out.
  2. cool, i went to ocean view and live a block away from there!
  3. If I ever do this V8 swap, I'm gonna put TT.net and Zcar.com stickers all over my car, they'll LOVE that! Owen
  4. $1400...damn...re-sell it for $2400! Where do you go to school? I'm only around after 6 on weeknites and at least one of the days of the weekend. Owen
  5. I hear ya! I just stepped away and what you said about getting another Z makes sense. However, time is my biggest enemy, I don't have any of it! And if I can't do this swap right away, it'll end up sitting half-assed in the driveway. Since my '73 money pit is sitting in the garage No, I'm gonna keep this sucker running til it's non-repairable, get a JDM and run that til it dies or someone wants to pay good money for the car. The V8 will have to wait. I can get a JDM engine/trans for around $1600 from friend's shop when the time comes. Of course, a 1st RX-7 with a 13B and Master Power T70 will be very cheap and fast too! No no no...gotta stop! Thanks again! Owen
  6. Yeah, I've seen your posts early on, looks like you're pretty far along? $10K for the car with a new (used) motor? I guess that's possible since it's clean enough. And I DID want a 2+2 slick top from the beginning....damnit now I'm confused again!
  7. Thanks guys! John, you are right about the engine being a pain to work on, I hate it. Mike, I agree with you completely. I only want to keep the body style the same, the powerplant doesn't matter as long as it is good. ON3GO, thanks for the advice. I'll just keep waiting. I have a long commute and am thinking I will just replace the consumables until the engine is completely dead. Owen
  8. Hmm, what about a slight downgrade from the LS1? Like an LT4? I don't want an LT1. Ford V8?
  9. Don't forget to take pictures of the faces of the owners after you whoop their a$$es with your Z! Owen
  10. One thing nice about having a MIG is it's ease of use. My MIG is acting funny and I had to patch a hole in the trans tunnel. Lying on your back welding overhead with a TIG is a pain, especially if you only have a foot amptrol! But, I would do the trade and get another cheap MIG down the line if I were in your position. Owen
  11. Don't worry, it is funding my project! But now my daily driver is sufferering... And I don't care if it's a TT now or not, when it dies, it will be nothing! I don't want to go through the hassle of finding another shell, I want to work with what I have. I don't understand why people say if it's a TT don't do it and if it's an NA or 2+2NA then do it. It's only a Z32 to me. Hanns, yes, I intend to get it certified if I do it. I've thought about import engines but they are so hit and miss. If I do get another VG30DETT, it'll be a US model. Now if I could only find a wrecked Camaro or something with an LS1.
  12. Hmm, sounds easier than I thought! I just need to buy the "kit" for mounting the engine/trans. Yeah, I was supposed to hook up with Vann a while ago on a business trip to Houston but my flight was delayed so couldn't do it. Owen
  13. Yeah, I'm just fishing for info right now...I'd rather have a slicktop 2+2 or something for the LS1. But I still need answers to my Q's. Thanks Owen
  14. I have more to complain about TT.net but i'm not gonna, waste of time. BUT, i did come up with this! HybridZ: I only did this to see the look on your face!
  15. I think I see the wrinkles you were talking about. Don't know if you can just use resin to build up on top of that like I suggested...unless they're indentations I guess. Looks good tho! Owen
  16. and that's dangerous enough for sure...! I have a Z32TT and the engine isn't gonna last more than another year or so before I have to start rebuilding it. High $! So, with you who have actually done or are pretty much done with the Z32-LS swap, I have some questions. 1. How much for the engine/trans? New? Used? 2. Stock clutch? 3. What wiring needs to be changed/spliced in? 4. How long to do the swap for an experienced person? 5. Is only the firewall/trans tunnel cut? Nothing else? Keep in mind that this is my daily driver, it has to be cheap and the swap done pretty fast. The rest of my money will continue to go the 240Z. I read most of the threads here, you'll see my name in posts from 2003-2004 and I haven't really found the answers I'm looking for. If it's too much money or too much time, I'll run the VG30DETT to the ground and simply replace it. Thanks! Owen
  17. http://www.badgeyourride.com/index.htm?page=home Too plain for my tastes, another one of my "one of these days" plans, a custom emblem. And with the new duplicolor etc paints out for metallics, easier to do your self. Time to hit Toy R Us for that magnetic alphabet set! Owen
  18. HZ=TC (technically creative) All Others = TC (technically challenged)
  19. Oh, man, if she's fine....! Better check if her lubrication is ok...on the truck! Owen
  20. Your brother and his friend, did they get that part from ebay? OBX, XS Engineering, SS Autochrome are notorious for parts that either don't quite fit or the welds will break right away. Owen
