  1. Ahh, twin turbos...my original plan before I sold the engine and trans! I was gonna either V-mount or use two separate ICs mounted horizontally. What they call an H-mount. Your nose hole idea has also been done. One by datsunaan (sp?) and another member, can't remember the name but do a search on "custom hood vents". In the end, it's all what you want, who cares what others say. Make it and be proud! Keep us posted too! Owen
  2. I hear ya, too many projects not enough time...or money...or energy! Get the triple size Rockstar (do you have that over there?) and get on it! Owen
  3. I think I see what you're saying with the v8 setup, are you talking a carb on top of the intake? I;m not a fan of that either, I was TPI. Owen
  4. air comes in the airdam and the reverse ducts with the lip aid in sucking air out. I'm not a fan of ram air ducts, too much drag. Owen
  5. WTF??? I can't post in the Announcements forum??? excerpt from another of my posts today... "I need to add a disclaimer to every picture I post of my dash...and a sticker on my dash for car shows. "NO, It isn't blinding." Some dumbfux at tt.net "oh, it'll blind you, it'll get you in an accident!" I promptly told them it wasn't going to do either and ended by saying "at least I have SKILLS". Some of those guys are cool and do awesome work, the rest are like monkeys who would be totally lost if a part wasn't a complete bolt-on! Damn rich punks... Time for a new slogan... HybridZ Rules, We Make It Fit!" Or how about, "Your Bolt On Mods Don't Impress Me"? Owen
  6. Can you add more resin, let it cure, then sand? Kinda like color sanding a bunch of layers of clear coat on a paint job. I need to add a disclaimer to every picture I post of my dash...and a sticker on my dash for car shows. "NO, It isn't blinding." 7. Me too! DAP only keeps on cracking in some places. Resin or a little mix of bondo is what I have planned for a piece I'm making for my Z32. Still DAP kicks ***! Owen
  8. Thanks dude, I had originally planned thinner uprights like in your design, but thought I would need more rigidity. I assume you're talking about the main opening. Side ducts came out too small...damnit... The lips on the leading edge of the hood vents are supposed to create a vortex and suck heat out. An idea I stole from Japanese GT cars. It's supposed to work great on V-mount ICs, which I am going to do. But yes, I did it for looks mainly. I'm a ricer trying to be unique! Owen
  9. I love seeing your work, it inspires me! I heard that having the outlet directly across from the inlet on an intercooler isn;t as good as one that has them diagonally across from each other? Something like the cooling isn't as effective furthest from the inlet (on the inlet side)? You're only using X% of the IC, is this true? Makes tubing fitment a pain I bet... Quick question, what hoses do you use to join the radiator tubing? Owen
  10. Mount the gauges on a frame and drop the dash over it, like here. Since yours is a completely new design, you can mount the gauges first and then just cut holes for the gauges. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=599707#post599707 Owen
  11. Hey Mike, long time no see huh?! I did what you are doing now, except didn't use any reinforcing under the cap. I took some aluminum tube, welded some tabs on it, which in turn line up with the 10mm holes under the windshield-line. Measuring where the gauges should mount to was a pain, but it turned out cool! One thing, my glove box doesn't work (who cares!). I was gonna make a cage with the same tubing and put some walls/floor on it and make it line up with the glove box door, but same ol story, ran outta time. In the end, I just gutted the glove box door and bolted it from the inside to the dash cap. The 3 center gauges mount to the main cross frame, the AC panel gauges/ducts/LEDs are an A-frame and mount to the tunnel, can be removed separately. The two big gauges mount to the steering column. Removal takes 5 minutes. It could take 3 but I have to disconnect the wiring from the main wiring harness cuz the gauges are mounted to the frame. Owen PS, I also dropped the height of the entire dash around inch from the stock mounting location. Both for looks and to make easy use of the 10mm holes. See last pic, you can see the weatherstrip in the background. The welds are my first (and last) attempt at MIGging aluminum. And the wires are a mess cuz I was relocating my ecu, trying to find room for an AC box.
  12. oh yeah, turn sigs are molded into an frp bumper. the LEDs aren't bright enough tho. my orig. plan was to use some supra turn sigs but couldn't find them cheap. didn't have time to color sand the air dam either, and the bumper is semi-mounted, barely hanging on the car! that's why it looks crooked. owen
  13. Ahh, looks like you forgot to check the copyrights on those hood vents and airdam! just kidding these are from last year's MSA. side skirts and rear dam/diffuser are the next on my list. I'm thinking of a widebody but I want to keep the ZG flares, plus I've got no time anyway... Q45 headlites are an idea I've had too, but if it's gonna become popular, forget it:-) I already have another scheme setup for that! the first one is the female mold, once painted, it's hard to see the ducts. yeah, it rained like a biZtch at MSA, and then became all sunny! this one's my fave All in all, I'm not satisfied with how the airdam came out, but oh well, maybe in 20 years when I might have some spare time... Owen
  14. Awesome, that plastic should work great. I wonder if you should leave it on or take it off once the resin has hardened enough to let it cure? My guess is that you need to let chemicals escape so the resin can "dry".
  15. I say keep it! With a new shell you still have to go through all the new floors, subframe connectors, wiring, interior etc etc. Just chop the damn fenders and start the widebody already!
  16. I came across this site, their gauges are really cheap! Is this the same stuff that they sell at pep boys, etc? http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2005110601200753&item=28-1522-A&catname=engines http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2005110601200753&item=28-1503&catname=engines http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2005110601200753&item=28-1287&catname=engines http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2005110601200753&item=28-1504&catname=engines
  17. No way, it'd get in the way of the neon and strobe lites! HAHA!
  18. You know, I actually may buy it...I've been wanting to try this vertical lambo door thing...
  19. You obviously haven't been to the Tool Shed! http://forums.hybridz.org/forumdisplay.php?f=78 Hmm, maybe I should buy Tim240Zs car and put some scissor doors on it! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101615
  20. Bartman and Turbomeister, which yards do you go to? I go to Wilmington but want a change of scenery. If anyone remembers, I ended up with some wrong fans. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104081&highlight=Owen If the motors are the same, you can take one of mine. Owen
  21. When I had my TPIS MiniRam2, the area underneath the plenum was hollow and I passed all my wires through there, I thought it was pretty clean. OR you can always overshadow the wires and stuff by making everything else shiny! Ever see the Chiyane? http://www.chicayne.com/images.html
  22. I love that pic. What "bothers" me is the visible stampings in the metal, and where two pieces of metal are welded together, strut towers etc. IF I were to do something like you are asking, I would smooth the entire engine bay, make it look like a smooth curvy bathtub:-) I think two40musclez (Van) has a fake firewall concept going.
