Morgan, They won't fit...J/K (see Mike's for sale post) What do you mean by "period looking" wheels??? I have some Hayashi Racing wheels, 15x10 I think. http://www.homestead.com/s30z/files/quo.htm pictures toward the bottom of page. 16 inchers would look sweeeeeet! I wonder if all that brake stuff will fit tho? Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Since I'm in so Cali too (Huntington Beach), I think I can answer #3. As long as the engine is the same year or newer than the chassis, you only need to conform to the smog laws of the chassis? But anything pre-73 is smog exempt, so my guess is none of that matters. Where in SD are you? Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

I just copied and pasted this from my other post... "PS. speaking of LEDs, I was looking into putting LEDs in the tail lites, turn signal assemblies, etc. to get rid of those stupid automotive type connectors and bulbs used right now. I looked into Lambert Enterprises http://www.lambertenterprises.com/ but they are pretty expensive." I also checked out Sylvania's site but not much info. My best bet would be to find a junked car that has the LED's, but there's not too many newer cars in the yards near me. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Thanks a lot everyone, maybe I'll take a picture so we can all see what I'm talking about. As to your questions, it's the steel one. What a POS, I'm still pissed...I'll let you know. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

These are supposed to be hi-tech items right? Well don't get the one made by Proform that Summit sells. It can't be used with a timing pointer that needs to be bolted into two of the timing cover bolt holes. I ground one corner off the upper cover. My damper is only like 6" big and the stupid holes to unbolt the top of the cover from the bottom end up BEHIND the damper! You can leave the bolts out and install it, BUT, you have to install the upper and lower corners first! AND, if you don't cut off a corner like I did, you won't be able to get the upper cover off anyway! POS! There is now a small hole, from excessive grinding, in the side of the cover near the middle where the upper and lower covers meet. It was plugged up but I forsee problems... Does anyone think this little crack, just enough to stick my fingernail in, will cause any problems? Is the timing cover there to just cover the timing chain, or does it play a part in ventilation, pressure, etc? Will oil spew out??? Thanks. You mean chop top or chopped off the top? (I'm under the impression that a chop top is where the roof was made to sit lower than stock) For chopped off top, see Mad Man's transformation. It's an open top Z. http://www.homestead.com/s30z/files/otherv8z.htm Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

I first saw this on Zcar.com but had no time to research it. Do a search over there and maybe the author can give more info. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Hey Mark, What's up? I'm up on my hind legs and panting like a dog waiting for this R230 info! Anymore news? If you just want a digicam to take ordinary, web-acceptable pictures, just get one of those cheapo Yahoo cameras. I was thinking of getting one to keep in my car for emergencies. If you need a place to post pics, I got space. Thanks, Owen Thanks, Owen Your post: So far R230 is holding up great. Just had rear wheel bearing go on a 1st to 2nd shift but they were 30 yrs old. Hope to get anothe 30 yrs out of the next ones. I'm looking for a digital camera to post some pics but I need an education. Any suggestions? Same as SpeedRacer. 19- cirucuit Painless harness, it really was Painless! Fuse box mounted in same place as Speed Racer too. The kit is colored and coded so you should have no problems. There are also wires for speakers, power windows and power doors, third brake light, etc. Bought from Summit and got a $50 rebate for some reason. Well worth the money. Car is 73 240Z, BTW. Interesting site...may come in handy... I saw this in the Featured Products section. "IR Illuminator Kit Let's get serious about this infrared thing with our IR ILLUMINATOR kit. Kit comes with 36 high power infrared LEDs, a 2" diameter PC board with silk screen and solder mask, 4 resistors, and assembly notes. Approximate assembly time is under 1 hour. IR ILLUMINATOR is designed to operate between 12-15VDC, with maximum efficiency at 14VDC. Units can be daisy chained. Mount anywhere with the convenient hole in the center. At 24 feet, the beam is approx 3-1/2 feet across. Light up the dark with the IR ILLUMINATOR. LED1007....$12.95" Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't an IR signal capable of interfering with speed detectors? How much I don't know but I read somewhere that the high beams of a car can sometimes aid in blocking/interfering with radar guns, etc. Not thinking of breaking the law or anything like that...just doing some creative wishful thinking Owen PS. speaking of LEDs, I was looking into putting LEDs in the tail lites, turn signal assemblies, etc. to get rid of those stupid automotive type connectors and bulbs used right now. I looked into Lambert Enterprises http://www.lambertenterprises.com/ but they are pretty expensive. However, certain parts being sold in the above post are much cheaper. ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

I was thinking about the Supra engine too, I hear it's almost bulletproof. What changed my mind was how much tuning parts cost for it, at least with my V8, I can go to PepBoys and pick up something in the "performance" section! And as for is it better than the RB26, it's close. You can't compare track times, etc b/c the GTRs are AWD and the chassis is just so much better than the Supras on the track. My opinion is, unless you can get the AWD Skyline junk to fit on your Z, there's no huge difference between the JZ engine or the RB engine. You still have to worry about how to keep the rear tires from spinning into bald rubber donuts! What I wanna know is, are there any diffs from the Supras that will fit on our Zs??? You might already know but JC Whitney has dash caps also, $59. Mine is the MSA model though. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Thanks for the info guys, Just doing some surfing at work and saw this one site that mentioned if the wheel is only sitting on the bolts, it could be a dangerous situation. The rotor is flush with the hub or spigot and there's no way I can see to get it sticking out more to support the wheel! I will try asking around at some of the wheel maker's sites. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

I have done the rear disc brake swap on my '73 240Z. But there is no room for the wheel to fit on the spigot because the rotor is pretty wide. The wheel is just resting on the bolts that hold it on. Doesn't sound too safe to me! Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

I assume you're talking about the metal piece with vents in it that covers up the windshield wiper motor? I just unbolted my wipers and carefully lifted it off... Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

I second that, in fact the book from JTR, TBI/TPI swapping suggested something like that. A low pressure pump to feed the resovoir and a high pressure one after it to feed the engine. I may do this later as I am using a '75 260Z EFI tank on my '73 240Z and an SX fuel pump. Are there any rules on where the pump can be mounted? Mine is outside cuz I though mounting it in the trunk would cause problems. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Seeking HUB adapter INFO!!!!

How about this? http://24.4.88.29/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000270.html Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html -
Definitely a dash, although it would probably be too expensive for me...I would like to see some functionality built in as well. Such as, easier access to the back of the gauges, molded in glove box (for use with the stock glove box lid?), and pockets or holes through which the rollcage windshield support bars could be mounted up a little closer to the firewall. That way I could intall the front crossbar between the 2 supports under the dash. Door panels are the next thing I would want, maybe with holes cut for power door locks and windows. That Supra picture is great, my favorite cockpit, because it has the center console tilted towards the driver. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

I think the hammering depends on your car. Mine is a 73 240Z and the reverse lock out solenoid rubs against the inside of the tranny tunnel. I had to do a lot of widening. And,IMO, trying to route exhaust piping under the slave cylinder is a pain in the butt! If youre going with the 383, make sure the damper clears the crossmember. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

One problem i ran into was the JTR specified engine mount rubbing against the steering shaft. I just ground a corner off of it and its ok now. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Are you talking about the black one with the twin turbo VG30 and the big window sticker that says "Misuzu"? I'm looking for more pictures of that one if anyone can scan them for me. Owen

This is a really stupid question... I have a 73 240Z, how can I modify the harness and/or switch to be able to flash the high beams? Right now, I can't turn on the high beams unless the headlights are already turned on. My manual mentions some kind of passing relay for the European models, is this what I need? Thanks. With no hyd. press, you either drill the bushings out or burn them out. Both take ever. What I did was to use a pulley remover to force the metal sleeve out and then grind with a dremel or burn the inside out. See, http://www.homestead.com/s30z/files/mods.htm It helps to drill around the center sleeve first with a small drill bit. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
