I put some POR-15 on the underside of that cowl in front of the windshield. Wife ran over a corner of it and I noticed that the POR flakes off real easy. May have been the amount of paint, may have been the prep to the surface, but it seems to me that if it is supposed to get real hard and protect what's underneath, it'll crack. Sorry to hear that. I too have had good luck so far with them. Maybe it was just the person you spoke to. If it p*sses you off that much and if it's worth your time, complain to S&W, maybe you'll get something out of it...like swing bar kits for the door bars??? OK, I've started a new thread because the other ones have other topics like what is DOM or ERW, or is the S&W cage ugly, etc. I hope this doesnt confuse anyone. I've been scouring the net looking for roll cage installation articles and have seen one in which a 8 or 10 point cage was installed in a Porsche 911. What intrigued me was that it was test fit then removed, totally welded outside the car and then re-installed. Anyone know of any methods that will let us do the same? I can weld the hoop to the halo first but after that, it looks like the rest will have to be done in the car since the tranny tunnel will be in the way of the front cage legs (if they were welded on first) I also saw a page where the tubes were test fit and then tacked together, but the cage itself was not tacked to the floor. The cage was tipped over so part of it would stick out the door, making welding the roof areas easier. Just looking for tips or tricks to make this easier for me. Chris, I have the Forza model Corbeau in the driver seat, and the Clubman in the passenger. The Clubman has a better angle on the back but is too narrow at the shoulders. The Forza shoulder supports are pretty wide and almost hit my door panel. I am only 5'6" so I will not move the seat crossmember back any further, I won't even use sliders for the seat because it is as far back as it can go already! If you are bigger than me, I recommend a bigger seat. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

My S&W kit definitely has a seam in it. I knew from the beginning it would be ERW, electric rolled weld??? Mine is the 14point kit. Roof halo is too wide to be mounted up high without cutting a portion out of the middle. Door bars won't fit, mine are straight btw, because my Corbeau seats are in the way. Same problem with the rear braces as mentioned above. Frame supports will have be cut shorter if I want them to land on the subframe connector. Anyone else having issues? I'd like to "work together" on this installation. Maybe a new thread? I need suggestions and solutions for where the main hoop feet will be located, etc. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

I for one understand your concerns about liability. But I will sign something stating I won't hold you liable the same way I won't blame others for the information they supplied on T-56 swaps, subframe connectors, brake upgrades, etc. If you ever get down to the pricing issues, please tell me how much they will be. Thanks, Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

that group purchase we were talking about for custom adapters, I think for CV adapters? I searched for it but I couldn't find it. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Do these R230s come in all Q45 production years? Is this an LSD type? Will it be the same as swapping an R200 in from an R180? Parts-wise, I mean. Thanks, Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Very tough question. The only way I would go with the 13B is if my car was already set up for it. How much did it cost to set it up this way and how much will it cost to return it to the L6 style? I would be concerned about torque as well, unless you have well balanced turbos. I would suggest learning how to rebuild rotary engines yourself too, that way you can change those apex seals every other week...j/k. I was pondering a 20B years ago since my friend's dad owns Racing Beat, but a V8 turbo (or two) has become the ultimate goal. Good luck, Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

You can also check for rust by placing a magnet over each inch of the body. If rust is real bad, or if the bondo is really thick, the magnet won't stick. I had a spot which i thought would be a big rust patch but when i stripped the paint, it was just a dent filled in with bondo. Also, read the tech articles. Don't buy pay big money for a car just because it has new floor pans from Motorsport Auto. You'll kick yourself if you have to cut them out for subframe connectors. In short, plan it out first. Hmmm. Many possible solutions here... I was definitely worried about the width of the hoop, I guess sectioning would be easiest. I wouldn't know how to weld the tube end into the pocket, especially the backside. I am only 5'5" so I don't need the seat all the way back. Maybe big thick plates welded to the seat belt pocket and the floor as well - creating an upside down V? Then notch the end of the tube into an upside down V as well and weld the 2 together? Or just weld a thick plate covering the pocket and weld the tube to that? Just trying to picture things in my mind here at work : ) Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Found one page, used to talk to this guy a little by email when I was in Singapore but lost touch. http://www.skulte.com/turbo.html some others http://www.fullboost.com.au/readerscars/toddjudge.html http://www.ls1motorsports.com/turbo.htm http://bsmperformance.com/turbo.html http://www.fl-fbody.com/members/bfranker/fbody/supercharged.htm Check Lingenfelter too, if you have the money. There's a forum of F-body owners with a section dedicated to forced induction. Can't remember to address. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Hi guys, For those of you who cut your S&W rollcage hoops to sit on the shelf behind the seat, where exactly did you mount it? With my hoop loosely sitting in the car, it looks like I don't have a lot of room to sit it on that shelf. some pix at: http://www.homestead.com/s30z/files/mys30z-1000-001.jpg http://www.homestead.com/s30z/files/mys30z-1000-002.jpg Thanks Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

When I first started thinking V8 a couple of years ago I was also still thinking turbo L28. After some surfing I found some sites with turbo V8 engines. There was even one with a twin turbo LT1 and another with a twin turbo LS1. Give me some time to find them. Who will be the first to have a turbocharged V8Z??? I would do it just for the hell of it...and if I had the money! Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Stony, You lucky dog you, make sure you make a really detailed write up on all this!! Are you gonna have any problems with the steering rack, brake booster, etc? My friend at Nissan says the LHD cars have all that stuff which interferes with the turbos, thats why it's taking a long time for them to import the Skyline. Keep us updated. randy 77zt: If youre in Osaka, try to go to Yumenoshima, you can get there from the ATC I think. They have a lot of drag events there, check the car mags for schedules. And take pictures! Lates, Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

In the newest Road and Track, titled "the ultimate sports car test", on page 69 is a Bonneville running Q45 with a crazy hood scoop that ran 200.460mph with its NA V8 engine. Cool. I need a scanner. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html

Sorry to hear about that, Mike. That's the main reason I didnt go with carbs, I know they make power, but I dont know JACK about tuning them! I took the lazy way and went EFI. Im sure you can use your fuel cell, especially if its got AN fittings on it. You just need to upgrade your pump, filter and regulator. And some other info I heard about lumpy cams is that they can confuse stock knock sensors. My $0.02, probably worth around $0.005 Good luck! There was a slave in the Summit catalog, had metal fittings too. I never called about it but I was curious to know if it would work with the T56. Anyone else see this? Owen

I'm not sure about this but you might want to check and see if the stock LT1 intake will fit with your heads. I know the LT1 is reverse cooled and I think they run coolant thru the TB. Sorry if I'm wrong. Owen ------------------ http://www.homestead.com/s30z/index.html
