  1. Hall of fame driver Jim Hall. http://www.motorsportshalloffame.com/halloffame/1997/Jim_Hall_main.htm "His Chaparral 2J "Vacuum Cleaner", the first ground effects race car, allowed him to sail at incredible speeds through the corners, due to an auxiliary motor that created a vacuum under the car to increase traction."
  2. I am thinking of mounting mine behind the passenger seat on trans tunnel. On the street, Set it and Forget it. My thoughts is this prevents the passenger from disturbing the knob in the ashtray location or old parking brake location and no console mods required. Still near the early Z brake line location for mounting and some what easy to reach for adjustments. Line runs briefly into interior behind seat, into valve, and back through tunnel to brakes.
  3. Phil, 20 pounds of boost! Wow Congrats on the tuning. Now Fire up that video cam!
  4. Where to currently find extra long racing wheel hub studs? Typical studs I can cut to length would be ideal. 78' 280z Fronts. 71' 240 Rear stub axels. Thanks in advance... Brian
  5. It has been awhile since I posted any progress on my car. Here is what I had to deal with, it's not pretty. This was the last and final battle with rust. Would not even wish this repair job on my worst enemy as I wasted my lower back doing this one. Ouch, at 38 I am getting old for this stuff. These are pics before seam sealer and paint to show repair job. They will remain in my gallery for awhile as to maybe help others someday who search confronted with this horrible crisis carnage. Process- Cardboard templates, .048 mild steel, Steel Rivets, I love them as they really perform compared to welding to .034 thick 30 year old metal. The ability to pull the material together and increased surface area. Some welding too where I could work it in. Difficult welding down in a hole and no upsidedown welds underneath. Jegs battery tray which was cut down to fit accordingly. The battery sits about 2 inches lower than oem. Yes it still clears the tire at full suspension compression and turn. Roughly about 3/8 clearance, quite the design task. Result- Very strong. Actually tied back into the firewall, inner fender and shock tower. More progress soon. Ok enough said here are the pics. 7. Do the smart thing and profit from someone else’s hard work. Buy a Z already V8 converted. It is very sad how cheap most our hybrid cars sell for after so much time and money being spent. Around 50 cents on the dollar in most cases, not to mention the time factor. A true deal. 5 or 6 grand should get you something that runs and drives "ok". Don't worry there will be plenty of issues with the car for your senior projects, and you will still have something that drives. That's huge. Being on jacks for a year at a time is not fun. In the end you have spent WAY less money and time for the level of car you end up with. Document this senario to your teachers and you will get an A for automaticly being wiser.
  8. I agree with ya Mike. I raced offroad for many years eventually won a few A class races. In my opinion dirtbiking is more physical than ANY sport out there. More than soccer, football, formula one etc. If anyone disagrees with that try a 3 hour GNCC harescramble or a 100 mile muddy root infested enduro sometime. Weapon of choice CR250. Ah the smell of two stroke smoke in the morning...priceless. Like Johnc says it's hard to know when you are getting tired so be aware of your surroundings. Then again why am I saying this, you know the deal.
  9. Arizona Z Car. Dave has 20 plus years of doing Z brakes. Why not go with a complete package that is more tightly engineered. He now offers 12.2 HD rotor castings for the fronts. ($100 upgrade).
  10. Ali, clutch looks great! You mentioned nitrous. I am researching a 150 shot as well. What types of fuel system upgrades do you plan for? Brian

  12. there is no such thing as a painless harness.
  13. I agree and Nice car. Hope not to jack the thread but what door mirrors are those? EDIT: Reguards to body, are you sure you want a Z with a sunroof? You may want to search hybridz for any possible issues.
  14. When it comes to welding you get what you pay for.
