Here's a couple of pic's I found on the net that I used to help determine the proper way to hook my lines up to the compressor. http://www.montecarloss.com/ls1montecarloss/pics/AClines.jpg http://www.montecarloss.com/ls1montecarloss/pics/ACrtg.jpg I'm assuming the larger line that comes straight off the back of the block is the suction and the smaller one that exits the side of the block is the discharge. Actually, I would prefer to hook mine up like yours (routing would be easier).

I'm just about the same place with my AC install as you are with yours. It took a couple of times to get the lines and fittings pieces correct, but most of them are installed now. I just need to take them in and get the fittings crimped on to the lines. Two differences I can see between our setups and one of them concerns me. 1. I installed my condensor with the fittings on the passengers side (I don't think this makes much difference) 2. I think I installed my lines the opposite of how you installed yours on the compressor. Are you using the stock LT1 compressor and if so are the suction and discharge lines interchangeable? I think I have mine the same way it was hooked up with the stock lines.

Ok guys got the ZG flares painted and taped on
Bartman replied to wigenOut-S30's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Something looks wierd on the side view...maybe it is the white line of the tape throwing it off. For some reason your tires do look a little narrow as well, I don't know why since they're probably wider than mine (maybe the tread pattern?). -
I don't know if they will do an RB conversion, but they completed an LS1 swap for quik240z. If not maybe they can point you in the right direction. http://www.showtimeautomotive.com/

http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=87730 I sent this information to Jeff at Atomic Autosports as well (he sent me an email). Good luck. It's not a source, but it should be a good part number.

I didn't see any mention of JTR's book. If you don't have one already..get one. It's an invaluable tool, and it covers what engines you can use and the best ways to find one. I don't know what it is with LSx guys, but they aren't the solution for everyone. If you're looking for an economical solution don't even go down that road. If you want a nice high performance reliable car and are willing to pay the price then go for it. Based on the requirements in your inital post, just find an old car (preferrably f-body) and you'll be on your way. You didn't specifically mention it, but make sure you find one with the transmission you want (manual or automatic). Since this is temporary, I wouldn't worry about much more than a 305 or 350 cid Chevrolet that runs decent with the right transmission (preferrably a whole car).

The seller has 100% positive feedback, and it seems like a pretty good deal...so I just went ahead and bought it. I'll post up how it works.

Hybridz insurance claim very tricky. Hybridz owners beware
Bartman replied to violacleff's topic in Non Tech Board
If I'm understanding you correctly, AAA may be able to get off without paying anything. You may have been better off not telling then you had all the modifications that you made. I have a relatively stock engine that you may want to consider throwing in your car before they get the hood open. That way you can either put your engine back in or put it in a replacement car if they want to total it. -
I searched around and didn't find too much support for larger aftermarket throttle bodies (and they are very expensive). I'm really thinking of getting this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/52mm-94-97-LT1-Z28-Trans-Am-Impala-SS-Throttle-Body_W0QQitemZ8044682366QQcategoryZ33558QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I could use my current one as a core, and it wouldn't be that expensive. Don't know if 52mm will make much difference over the stock 48mm, but the other upgrades sound good. "This unit has been bored on a CNC mill from 48mm to 52mm. The casting has also been machined to receive Sealed Roller Bearings to support each end of the throttle shaft for a precision fit. This modification eliminates the extra clearance between the casting and the throttle shaft that can be present in the stock casting. This allows precision fitment of the new throttle body blades that have been CNC machined from .063 2024-T3 aircraft aluminum. The throttle blades open and close freely, smoothly, and seal tightly. You will not experience high idle or a sticky throttle shaft. All the new grade 8 fasteners have been lock-tited and peened in place. The roller bearings have been pressed and lock-tited also. Mounting holes for the top and bottom plates have been chased with a tap to ensure quick and easy instillation. There are no other modifications needed to install this throttle body. The stock LT1 intake manifold already has 52mm bores also for a streamline fit. You also retain the stock appearance with this bored unit. All work has been done by myself including machining and assembly to ensure great craftsmanship and quality." My engine has around 90K miles and it idles a little high sometimes, I'm thinking a new throttle body couldn't hurt. I don't know how it looked when it was new, but if I hold my throttle body up to the light and look through it; the blades don't look like they fit too great. Some areas have a gap while other areas don't.

I bought a polished top late for my LT1 throttle body (what can I say...I like a little bling). I was going to install it last night, but it really accentuates how bad my throttle body looks. So I removed the throttle body and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I could just clean it up and reinstall it (maybe powder coat it as well)...or I could take the opportunity to upgrade to a better one. Does it make sense to upgrade to an aftermarket throttle body? I also found one on eBay that started as stock and was bored out to 52 mm. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/52mm-94-97-LT1-Z28-Trans-Am-Impala-SS-Throttle-Body_W0QQitemZ8045619936QQcategoryZ33558QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Do you think this is a good deal?

An Si is probably a good car...but what about what you wrote in your original post? -
Tim, when are you going to fill us in on your project(s)? Maybe you did and I missed it, but I thought the last post you made about a project had to do with a stock restoration.
-
Great sleeper! Maybe it won't look that way when it's done, but it looks like a farly clean stock car on the outside. One of the posts in the link says that the suspension and rear end are stock. I wonder if that rear end will be able to handle all that power?

I thought about this statement for a while, and for me I think this is exactly what I don't want in my car. I want my car to be as fast as can be without losing the ability to be driven normally. When I tap the gas I want my car to move forward gently...when I mash the pedal I want my car to turn into a beast. Fast when I want it to be, and slow when it needs to be. I guess this is why it's important to really decide what you really want out of your car. My car is obviously not a race car, nor do I want it to be one. There are a lot of comfort and drivability type sacrifices that need to be made in order to create a competitive race car. I'm definitely not building a race car as evidenced by all the effort and cost to put Air Conditioning in my car. To each his own, and it's interesting to see how others feel about cars that they have driven. I don't think I would ever consider a Neon...regardless of how fast or cheap it may be; however I would definitely consider a New Camaro or Challenger if the production models turn out anything like the prototypes I've been seeing. I would also consider the GTO if I could get a decent deal on one and a Vette if I didn't want a back seat. -

This is the cooling system I was referring too: http://www.toy-jet.com/ Any comments on the pro's and con's of this system? -
Good job and great news! Nothing like having it fire up on the first try. I know I was very excited the first time mine fired up....not on the first try though.

I like it! Did you investigate the option of installing a radiator in the rear wing? Don't know how well it works, but it would seem to make the swap a little easier. -
I think the main power for the factory fuse box comes from the Alternator output. I installed an insulated terminal block and have a wire on it from the battery as well as the alternator output. IIRC the datsun wire that provides wire to the fuse box is white with a red stripe (which I connected to the insulated terminal block as well). http://www.madelectrical.com/catalog/cn-1.shtml

As soon as I finish with my AC install I'll start working on the exterior. Somebody makes - or used to make - lights specifically to fit in that 'dam' thing. I'd be interesting in finding a set and getting them installed.

I can get to http://csce.uark.edu/ but http://csce.uark.edu/~jgbertr/rb/4th_gen_tech1.htmlgives me a page cannot be found error. Did you guys break it. edit - Now I see, that this is an old thread...it's probably long gone.

As you can tell, my exterior is far from finished...but here's a pic of the Kaminari installed. Here's a link to Jason's web site that uses this air dam on his car: http://www.geocities.com/jasonparuta/
