  1. Here is pic of my wheels on a Zed (dads) with stock suspension. These rims have 4.5" backspace are 16x8.5 -6 (so from rim to rim 9.5" = BS 4.5") Hope this helps with what will work with stock setup.
  2. Just spotted this thread - also I noticed the question "does anyone sell the stroker under 2K?" Well I found this link today also. wow under $1100 for new stroker kit at the price I am sure a number of these will go?
  3. I have two of those Dizzy like the one of the left both from C31 Laurel L20ET years are 82 and 83. Interesting that yours is the optical, that what I was looking for when I purchased my 2 dizzies (one came with a car for $100) the other I got from Trademe. In the end I got the L28ET from ebay as I knew it would be the optical unit. If I knew I could get one locally I would have tried harder and save all the shipping from the USA.
  4. Sulio, Next time I am in Melbourne on Business I will have to catch-up with you and Gav - if the timing is right I might get to see your wheels in the flesh
  5. Ok here are the PICS I promissed earlier. These show the differences between the L20ET (that we get in a number of JDM imports here in NZ and OZ ie early Skylines R30, Laurels C31, Leapords ??. I have even seen the same dizzy in a L20E powered Fairlady ZX ie L20 factory installed in a 280zx body JDM)....they say a pic is worth 1000's words so I will let them speak for them selves.
  6. Pleased to help - would not like to see anyone spend their hard earned $$ on the wrong rims, been there done that.
  7. Close but don't forget that the a RIM measurement is almost + 1" beed to beed ie a 7" rim is so close to a 8" beed to beed lets call it 8". So my rims are 16x8.5 -6 (check spes and marking on the back of the rim again to be sure) and 16x9.5 -19. These rims from beed to beed are 9.5 for the fronts and 10.5 for the rears so that makes 4.5" backspace. Also from the sticky in this section Wheel/Tires see http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html#backspace Cheers Mike
  8. Dennis, As Oz did not get the L28ET (like most of the world) you might find it hard to find one locally. If you have the F54/P90 (non turbo config - I have seen a few here in NZ also) it should have just the stock EI dissy + flattop pistons. I have purchased a L20ET to see if these use the L28ET dissy that the guys state side use with megasquirt. However they are a crank sensor unit but are not optical like the L28ET. I will try and take some pics tonight when I get home to show the differences between the L20ET dissy, L28ET dissy (I purchase from ebay) and the CAS on the crank.
  9. Tony D - that sounds like the one....to the others I did not get to the car in the weekend (at a mate house outside) and it was raining all weekend + the misses had me repairing/rebuild a fence on the farm that took most of the weekend (nothing like working outside in the cold rain, holding a chainsaw on a muddy bank trying to hold your ground and cut a post and rail fence and hoping like hell you don't slip and end up with a shorter leg) I will see if I can get the pic and post by tomorrow evening (I will pop out at lunch time and get the pic)
  10. Ari I think a 15" rim would clear however it depends on the tyre/size and sidewall. If you ran a streched tyre I don't think you will have any issues ie 205 or 215 a 225 might work but it could also be very very close. I guess you could run a very very thin spacer. If you see my 2nd and 3rd pics you will see a small spacer on top of the Performance Superlite Wheels that are currently fitted to Dad's Zed. These spacers are only on the fronts for caliper clearence I believe (did not try to refit the wheel without them)
  11. Sulio, I have custom steel flares on my Zed (see pics on my website). Yes I have the same size wheels/rims combo as 240ztt. Cost truck loads, one arm, one leg and my first born (worth every cent) No they cost close to $900NZD each rim (that is funny money to you Ozzies and those state side - this puts them at a total $2465USD with todays exchange rates close to what 240ztt paid, this includes all taxes/shipping and commission). The tyres I am running a Toyo T1-R 225/50/16 fronts and 245/45/16 rears these were a good price costing just under $815NZD. They took just 6 weeks from order to pickup.
  12. Well after 1 month I spoke to the sheet metal worker looking to replicate the Stainless Steel trim of the original Z-G light covers. (He even passed them on to another guy who had more experience working with Stainless Steel and tool making). Result = not good. It would be too costly to create the tooling to create the trim/curves/folds out of the original material (stainless steel - he stated something about a 20ton press etc). So now I will take the clear covers to a local headlight cover manufacture to see if I can replicate the cover at least. Will then see if the trim could be made out of different material ie steel (easier to work with) and then get it chromed. Sorry about that guys - I will keep trying.
  13. I think the XL500 piston is for a LD28/L14 combo if I recall correctly.
  14. Not yet - it was night time we I had a look. I will see if I can visit and take a pic this weekend.
  15. Here is site I found sometime ago that lists G-Nose Light Covers. However they only list them with a G-Nose as a kit (not sure if the sell them separately). see http://216.239.37.104/translate_c?u=http://www.aritaspeed.com/catalogue/aero.html When I got my G-Nose light covers (via a ex Nissan Japan employee now living here in Auckland) he told me that his source in Japan said there were only 5 genuine G-Nose light covers sets left so after I purchased mine 3 months ago that now make 4 (this might be only via one supplier though so there might be more). I now have the set with a sheet metal worker to see if he can replicate the stainless steel trim.
  16. nice work - lovey big deep dish on those rims what are they? and what size are they?
  17. thanks for the pic - but not at all like that. I really need to get a pic, you know a pic says a 1000 words. Well it is sort of like that in the fact that the runner do curve up to the plenum (but the plenum runs on the side of the curves not on the top like the pic above). It bolts together from the side where as in your pic it from the bottom ie horizontal v vertical. Also this one is like the late 280zx wasted/stepped manifold ie the runners get shorter as it moves down the head. It is like nothing else we have ever seen.
  18. No not the diesel manifold (well not like the ones I have seen anyway) it does have a throttle body on the front and all looks stock we could not see any welding anywhere. I will try and get a pic
  19. Hi, I was over at a mates tonight and he showed me an intake manifold fitted to a 280zx 2+2 (Australian Assembled 1981). It is a P65 EFI manifold and is unlike any EFI manifold we have ever since on a L28. It has a very large plenum with curved runners. The engine produces lots of torque. I will try and get a picture. The intake also has the Hitachi symbol cast onto it? Anybody seen or heard of one of these before or know anything about them? It is a two piece manifold that looks like it can be unbolted and it still has the EGR on it.
  20. Goto Auto Body Parts web page and do a search for 280z you should find guards/fender for around $108 USD
  21. 240ztt - they look excellent. I have purchased a set of RS-Watanabe's also. Size is the same 16x8.5-6 and 16x9.6-19. Running 225/50/16 and 245/45/16. I have not installed them on the car (suspension is still out) but here are some pics of the rims and the tires fitted (taken at the tire shop a few weeks back) The shot with the 3 rims and tires shows the 2 backs and one front (the one furthest away as the other front was getting balanced at the time). The tire I purchased are Toyo PROXES T1R and they installed them with out using any special tools - they had a bit of trouble getting the bead to start but the guys said not too much of a problem. The sidewall on these don't look as stretched as you tire - the front have a less of a stretch. Question for you are you running coilovers? or stock spring size/purch? I have stock spring size and purch so just want to know if I need spacers on top (I don't think I do as these have 4.5" BS = should clear stock setup)
  22. Go to http://www.megasquirt.info/ then click the "Injectors and Fuel Supply" link from the left most frame under "MegaManual". Then on the right frame you should see a list of shortcut link with-in the document. Select "Throttle Bodies". Read this section and scroll down you will see a Throttle Body Bore calculation area. Have fun
