  1. Ok well the pics i found didn't show me that. Any pics can provide would be most helpful. I'd like to be able to rotate them, thats why i went with a 9.5 all around, and would like the same size tires if possible.
  2. Well i got to spend some time at the shop today. Basically my Autokraft oil pan had to be changed because of no clearance for the drain plug. F-body pans are fine, and thats what i switched to. I also started changing over to poly bushings. HOLY PITA. It took me four hours to change oil pans, change rack and pinion bushings, change to poly motor mounts, and get everything lined back up. Of course this would have been considerably easier if i'd had an assistant to move the cherry picker down 1/2" or grab a socket. <_< Hopefully I'll be able to steal some more time this week and turn the engine over. As soon as i know the wiring harness is a go, then its on to the coilovers. or the brakes. or the cooling system. or ???? Needless to say, plenty to do.
  3. EH HEM. I told you that in the PM chief.
  4. So i searched FlatBlack, and his wheels are NOT the 9.5" wide. They only look like rota RB's to me actually. I have only seen a couple cars with the big dish all around. I pm'd Slammed68, but i'm not sure his are all 9.5"... Ugh i'd like an answer from someone with them on a 280z before i order tires that wont fit..
  5. I REFUSE to stretch a tire. I personally think it looks like the anti-christ. I guess I'll be doing some trimming!
  6. Just wanting some advice from people with the Rota RB-r wheels. Just how large of a tire will fit all around with the 9.5" wheels on all 4? Thanks
  7. Not entirely true. The new aluminum 5.3's (some) have better rods than others, and since they're lighter, they're more desirable. THE TUNE THE TUNE THE TUNE THE TUNE. With good head gaskets, head studs, and a good valve train, a stock shortblock will handle 20psi (e85 or race gas) Yes i said 20. it would probably live forever on 7-9 lbs. Case in point --> P.S. The camera car (408 trans am) is over 1000hp to the wheels All were filmed in mexico, and I don't know any of them
  8. Looks like you're making some good progress! Almost all my stuff is here now, I just need some time to work on it!!!
  9. In all honesty, this car has about a 1% chance of seeing any track time. I might go with this setup for the time being then.
  10. Ok, so in a 180 degree view change, would stock calipers and rotors with new pads, coupled with maxima / zx rears be a good combo?
  11. Hmmmm Damn thats a lot of money! I know brakes aren't exactly the place to skimp, but wow idk if I'd ever even use the full potential .
  12. Of the above mentioned, I was actually leaning towards the silvermine motors kit. It hurts my wallet to LOOK at the AZC website. I've heard great things about the rears, but what would be a good match for the front? Their stage 4?
  13. Ok, I guess maybe a better question might have been, which brakes for a 500whp street car (275 tires)that will see high speeds, and light drag / auto-x. For those who want to crucify me, I've read through the stickies, and everyone has a "best" setup. I just dont want to buy anything twice, plus import car parts are a PITA for me to source here in KS. I've called 8 junkyards, and none of them have any infinit or nissan cars. . I need a setup that is going to be functional (see: avoid death) and REASONABLY affordable. If it comes to sourcing used parts that will cost me $5-700 or buying new @1200, I'd rather buy new, save the headache, and have a nice finished product.
  14. I'm trying to get a feel for what the guys with LSx engines are running for brakes. I offered a few choices, but I'm sure that I left out as many as I included, and for that I apologize. Please elaborate as well, as I'm trying to decide how big ($$$$) i want to go. Or rather, how big i NEED to go.
  15. He runs right around a 3.00 rear gear. (dont need alot of gear when you have power and tire) The car weights about 2600#, so not a lot different. And you were terribly mis-informed about the physical size and weight of LS engines. They are basically the exact size of a gen 1 sbc, just lighter.
  16. Not much to report. School has kept me way busy this week, and I'm going to Dallas for a club trip thursday-sunday, so this week is shot unless I get some stuff done tomorrow. anyway, here are the bends and mufflers. I'm going to need more straight pipe, but I'll get that locally. I've been seriously re-thinking my fuel system after seeing a custom fab'd tank on here, so I'll probably just fab up the exhaust to the mufflers and dump it until i figure out what's goin on in the rear.
  17. while we're on the subject of small ci engines.......... Just a measly little stock bottom end 5.3
  18. that would be sweet. thanks Also, can you take some pictures standing a ways back from the car so i can see how well the tank tucks? I'm assuming that filler is connected to the stock location? What pump / filter setup is that? One more thing - can you ask them what the cost would be with a standard 0-90 ohm sending unit? I'm really liking this design...
  19. The question is, did they save the plans so they can make me one? hahaha. But seriously. What did that set you back if you don't mind my asking?
  20. Well I spent the afternoon, and the first quarter of the game at the shop. oops lol Anyway, I took a picture from the side to give you an idea of the ground clearance. It is nothing short of excellent. The engine is held up by blocks because the tranny is out and I didn't want it to sag. I also took a pic of the wiring and the relay bracket Took the trans apart at a friends, then brought the case back to powerwash/ clean and get it ready to put back together. I went ahead and assembled it so i can use it for mock up for the exhaust build. ALSO took out the struts to prep them for the coilovers, new brakes, and removed the SPINDLE PINS (S30 guys know what i'm sayin) I don't see what the big deal is? this one came out. Its either been replaced, or is the best condition one on the planet. The drivers side was not as cooperative. Cut off the backing plates as i'm doing discs And I was left with this big pile of CRAP. The struts were blown also Thats it for today
  21. I know i'd originally planned on buying 4 BZ3099's, but would i be better off with a different shock front and rear?
