  1. Thanks for the update. I was hoping the Friselle flares would be and option. Quick info, I was able to locate some fiberglass bumper extensions (Porsche 930 Turbo), that could match up with the Porsche 930 Turbo flares, so you do not have to buy the complete Porsche bumper, unless you wish to go the route. Just mold the extension to the flares before molding on to the car. This will be the path I will take, and I will document the whole process ( My buddy Troy is an auto paint and body guy by trade, I will be the assistant !!!!!.
  2. GeorgiaFlash75V8, You may have this already, but Autozone has a 1975 Z diagram. I have the color 1977 diagram on PDF, but the black and white diagram on Autozones site is clearer. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/1d/1d/80/0900823d801d1d80.jsp I am following your post as well, my buddies close by who have made the swap have 240's - the 280 is a different animal.
  3. Zlalomz, I like your idea with the Panasports !!!!!!!!! Tim240Z, I look at my garage doors, and wonder how wide the fenders are, and hope I do not have to remodel the house/garage to get the car out when it is all said and done. The black Z is running 345/35-15 tires in the rear, and 285/40-15 in front (Pirelli P7), also the rear is a "IMSA flared fiberglass clip and a bolt in fiberglass hatch" quoted from Z-car magazine Spring 1996. Showcars-bodyparts in Canada have some similar fiberglass, but past posts inidcate bad service and low quality is and issue.

    Porsche 930 flares

I agree, Give a Thanks to " Z kid" for the link to a hotrod website in Europe. I wish I could read German so I knew what the specs are. I will post the other photos i have.
  5. If Les at Classic Datsun create body kits, I know it will be good quality. I found this photo in one my old Z-car magazine, and this particular issue was dedicated to Hybrid Z, particular V8. Henry Constanzo car (president of Georgia Z club) and this car in Z-car sealed the deal for how I wanted to do my car: http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3101 I had more money 8-10 years ago (before kids, house other cars) so I decided to wait thinking I could buy a body kit later. Who knew a lot of fiberglass Z kit shops would go out of business and/or just get rid of the molds.
  6. This picture is copied from the old Z car magazine. This was the special issue dedicated to Hybrids.
  7. Oldestzguy, The hybrid member was "Z Kid" he had a link to information on how the Porsche flares were installed on the Z. What i have found out about the rear valence or bumper is two processes. First, the Porsche guys wanting to convert a regular 911sc to Turbo body already have a bumper, so they only have to buy the flares and bumper extension that goes from the rear of the flares to the bumper. This extension costs from $100 to $300.00. Second, process involves buying a whole rear fiberglass bumper (11 inch). Finding the fiberglass extensions has been difficult, a majority of the Porsche shops only sell the bumpers made to fit with the turbo flares. The steel flares are out there as well, but my skills are limited to fiberglass !!!! Drsideways, I have pictures of BSR #33 car (the car in "How to Hotrod and Race Your Datsun"). If Classic Datsun has molds to that bodywork of the Sharp/Newman car, I might have to take out a equity line loan or do a second mortgage and write out the check !!!!
  8. Another hybrid member posted a link to pictures of this car: http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3094&cat=500 He also indicated he had the flares like these for sale, in steel rather than fiberglass, but i do not think he was in the states. There is another photo i posted in the photo albums to give you better idea of how the Porsche 930 flares look.

    Porsche 930 flares

    Viable flare option ??
  10. Oldestzguy, Thanks for posting the info on the ebay car with the imsa bodykit. In reading the seller information about the car, the one thing that stuck out was the availibility of the 345/35/15 Pirelli tires for the rear (although expensive) is viable option for a vintage flared Z. I was reading some past posts, and two in particular had pictures of Z's with Porsche 930 flares on the rear and found three companies that make fiberglass for Porsches. http://www.9xauto.com look under racing body panels http://www.rennspd.com look at 930 or 911 RSR Flares and bumpers. and American International Racing I have also look at Pantera Group 4 flares, however, in my head I can not see the body lines matching up as i look at a Z, and then look at a Group 4 Pantera. The one thing I know about the Porsche flares, is depending on the width of the rear tires, there is enough of a flat radius to extend the fiberglass or reduce depending on the width of the tires. This is a flare option I am thoroughly researching.
  11. I passed on a deal for 327/T5 just before Christmas 2004. That money has since gone into the wife's Dodge caravan, my 4runner (100,000 mile service maintenance- timing chains both cars), and home improvements plumbing, paint fixtures. Finally, can focus on Z -coming soon SBC/TKO 500 and wide tires!!!!
  12. Troy will be bringing his down to SEZ if he does not brake before then !!!
  13. The wheels are Complete Custom wheels and tires are 335/35-17 in the rear, and 275/40/17 in front (Kumho?) if memory is correct. Bob _H , can correct. When Cleve put the car up for sale, he had it parked at his car wash/detail shop around the corner from my office. Bob_H bought a nice car, with a few rough edges, but I want to see the finish product as well.
  14. This is the link to the company that chrome plated the fiberglass bumpers for the Summit catalog car on the cover. http://www.xxxplating.com/
  15. Bartman, The carbon fiber bumpers are nice. MSA, also has the carbon fiber ZG flares, but they appear to be a bit narrow. The latest Summit catalog has a 65 or 66 Chevy on the cover with fiberglass bumpers that have been chromed. The chroming technology is really up to speed and getting the fiberglass Z bumpers chrome plated would be a viable option.
  16. That site will save you a couple of dollars. If I can ask, are those Diamond Steel wheels on the white Z ? My reason for asking, I am thinking about buying a set of Black steel wheels. Thanks.
  17. Pusher, Check this Canada Z club page. I did my suspension (bushings, springs and shocks) with this site and factory manual. Print the pages and bring to the garage !!!! Good luck http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/rearwheelbearings/index.html If you go back to tech tips, there is a front bearing page also with picutres.
