I found another thread indicated 90-95 Hyaundi Sonata spare may fit as well over modern brakes in a pinch.
-
Do all the above, AAA , Flat tire kit/with portable air compressor and as a last resort try and locate a salvage yard that has some Ford mustang 4 lug bolt pattern wheels or spare tires. This is and option i found on thread on a another z site when you have no space saver tire at all. In that same thread, it was also indicated that some British cars, MG, Triumph complete wheel will work as a spare, this I am not sure of. But, the Ford 4 lug seems plausible.

Should Tokico's put me this low?
Dudeboy replied to Zoldman's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Wheelman, I went out and took a picture of my drivers side tokico/spring strut. Picture attached: http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=2690&cat=500&page=1 The other three corners were ok as well and car rides and handles great, however not low enough for me. If you can get a refund or exchange for the springs if your are not beyond the expiration. Quick question? What is the part number for your springs, is it possible you were shipped the wrong springs for a Z car? -
If you guys remember the Z-car magazine, the summer of issue of 1997 had on the cover the twin turbo -V8. In 1997 Bob Sharp was storing this car and several others. They were up for sale then including the imsa 240/280 Z. The bodyparts (fiberglass) for the ZX's were made by a company called MEI. I do not know if this company is still around. Also, a small footnote- a few of the turbo inline sixes and turbo V8 motors are lying around somewhere ?????

Zhadman, I came across this website of a porsche restorer who extended a set of RSR flares (fiberglass). I can not tell if the VB flares can be extended about 2-3 inches due to the angle and they are steel-but this may be option. http://brentwoodrocketscience.com/rsr.htm

MP Fuel Injection ail filter/ cleaner question...
Dudeboy replied to Mikelly's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
The car guys in the neighborhood drool over Barry's set-up (owns the 454 Nova). He's made a few more tweaks to the 454, so he will be going on the chasis Dyno again this weekend. So, I am interested know how it flows before/after for your car and Jim McNemars. -
Pantera group 4 flares are made in steel and fiberglass (steel very expensive) http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/704800/3 Good luck Zhadman with the VB flares, keep the photos coming !!!!!
-
Zhadman, Thanks for the photo perspective. The VB and MSA catalog does not give you a good perspective until you seen the flares on a car in a good photo. I too will be running 315/35/ 17 in the rear - and looking at what is in the market place to get 3.5 inches or wider, I found that the Pantera Group 4 flares will work. If you have not shot your budget on the VB flares, check out the Pantera Group 4 Flares, if no one beats me to it, I will document installing rear Pantera group 4 flares on the rear of my car. Check these out: http://jacobsracing.com/group4.html

Dudeboy replied to Mikelly's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Mikelly, Have you taking a look at: http://www.superiorairflow.com/extreme_velocity.htm I have been looking at there site for awhile nice stuff. I only know one person utilizing there plenum on a 454 Nova with carb/injection and he indicated he has now air flow restriction from what he can measure. -
Have you look at Cadillac Hot Rod Fabricators ? I think the site is chrfab.com? Hpsalvage.com has some links to Northstar info, one for dropping a Northstar V8 into a Fiero and transmission adapter company that make and adapter plate for a 700r4.If you are commited to this swap please document, it will be something to see.

clarification needed for Ford clutch master cylinder
Dudeboy replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Hybridz member who did the write up on the Ford Master cylinder is "JuJu". Good information on this for utilizing a T-5 Tranny. Do a search in the members section under "JuJu". -

305240, I have been looking for some different ideas for flares also, so I am putting this idea out there !!! Pantera GT4 Flares or Group 4, you can get them in steel or fiberglass. There is a Pantera shop in Florida that sells the fiberglass for reasonably price and the steel flares, but they are expensive, and I know Pantera International out in California list them but prices can be steep !!!! The Group 4 flares check them out here: http://www.pim.net/18.1pim.html On my laptop I have the name of the company in florida, if you want that info I will post it. To get a better idea of what these flares look like, just enter Pantera GT4 Flares in a internet search engine and see what you come up with.

To answer your initial question, give these guys a call: http://www.skulte.com/adapters.html

Here is and option: http://www.wheelreplicas.com/sstyle.htm get some of these: http://www.ezaccessory.com/.sc/ms/dd/1105713363542254/9/nc/Wheel%20Adapters/124/Wheel%20Adapter%204%20Lug%204%2E5%26quot%3B%20To%205%20Lug%204%2E5%26quot%3B%20Thickness%202%26quot%3B To go wider and lighter, and not utilize adapters you will spend a little a bit money. 17x10 rims and tires, questions.
Dudeboy replied to JaysZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
My error Jaysz, 1010tires.com, add the "s" to tire. Also, they revamped there web page and they may have been down, but they have a pretty good old tire to new tire calculator. Clifton, I have found some Hankook Ventus sport K104 in the 285/30-18 size priced between $135.00 - $160.00 plus or minus shipping. I have also found that the vendors who sell Ford mustang Bullitt, Saleen and Cobra R wheels in some cases stock the tire sizes 315/35/17, 275/40/17, 285/35/18 and 285/30/18. Good deals and tires are out there- and I always try to think "outside the box". I was taking my kids to the park, and I pass by a mom and pop tire service shop, and I stopped to take a look. They retailed Michelin and Pirelli tires on average about $35.00 to $50.00 bucks less than the large tire vendors. For wheels, those interested in Billet Specialties and Budnik wheels got to http://www.srbymichael.com. The website is Street Rods By Michael, look at the price difference there compared to Budnik and Billet Specialties direct. The more you look, the more you will find there are some options for Z owners. -
That is great you are getting ready to paint the Z. The Wick Humble book is very well written and illustrated to deal with issues with the door and hatch parts, windows and I know from experience. Well, my Z is in the garage waiting for a heart !!! I passed on a deal for 327/T5 just before Xmas. I told my neighbor about the motor- he bought the motor and it is now in a renegade 914 !!!!! Another month or so and i will be getting busy again-since it is getting warmer, my wife will sacrifice her side of the garage to store parts and I will have more work area. I have some bodywork, wheel/tire combo and engine plans that will be wild. Looking forward to pictures of your car once you get it painted.

Hey Rusty, I met you and Mike K, B16crx and Nullbound at Hooters last year, I had the silver z with the blue Corbeau seats. Any way Mark is correct on the glass removal, once you are ready to install all body components back together -a good reference book to have if you do not have in your Z library is "How To Restore Your Datsun Z- Car " by Wick Humble. The book has some great ideas for restoration, drawings and part illustrations.

I hope you and another georgia z owner (GAZRNR) can work out deal on the spoiler. If you guys can not come to terms, I bought mines from Arizona Z car last year - give Dave a call if it does not work out. Here is a picture of mines fiberglass/bolted on. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=1536&cat=500&page=1

17x10 rims and tires, questions.
Dudeboy replied to JaysZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Check around for tire prices on 315/35/17 - 1010tire.com, tirerack, onlinetires.com. My car is my weekend cruiser for me and my son (7 year old think Z's and corvettes are cool !!!), so if go 315/35/17 I will go with a Sumitomo HTRZ from the Tirerack and there running a special on that size now. Another tire size to consider, although finding rims will be costly is a 285/30-18 for the rear. This size is real close to to the stock ride height, but wider and shorter in height than a 275/40-17. -
17x10 rims and tires, questions.
Dudeboy replied to JaysZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Jaysz, Majik16106 has some Boyd Coddington wheels for sale in the for sale section with size specs similar to yours. Search for thread on his wheel / tire combination. 2126 is correct, backspace 4.75 or greater inboard space becomes and issue and coilovers are required or modification of strut housing. ZR8ED wheel/tire selection is close to your specs as well, except i think he has 17 x 11 wheels in the rear -do a thread search on his specs -His rear tires are 315/35 -17 Very, very nice Black Z.
