I have been reading and researching the options and issues since Twist machines came out with there paddle shifters. A buddy mine has it (4L60E/LT1), and from what he tells me it is control by the module, transmission controller and the programming of the software. If you have not check them out yet, go to http://www.twistmachine.com. I am doing a LS1/4L60E swap with paddle shifters, I am looking to be at the stage by spring 2007 God willing !!

I want to buy rims for my 77z! help
Dudeboy replied to joe d.'s topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
joe d, How much $$$$ you want to spend ??? Kinesis, Kodiak, Complete Custom Wheel or HRE. Take a look at http://www.imagewheels.com in the UK, very reasonable price for custom wheels made to fit a Z. How wide are you looking at ? Flares ? no flares ? Coilovers ? Stock suspension? Lowered ? Buying safe 17 x 7 wheels with 4 inch backspace, 225/45-17 tire at all 4 corners. Also, mom'sZ provided a great link for wheel backspace/offset ---www.rsracing.com. Do as much research as possible before your purchase, so that you will be satisfied with the fit, look, ride and stance of your car. -
I have removed the drivetrain, seats, carpet and engine harness - and working my way back to the taillights. I want to clean up the engine bay and the entire car for that matter. I read just about all the posts on the EZ wiring and went to there website, read the posts on Painless and I have there catalog. I decided to buy the Summit GM Harness, it is in the middle of the road as far as price goes. I am swapping a LS1/4L60E with Twist machine paddleshifters so I do not want issues with electric gremlins, alternator/fusible links like I had with the inline 6 !!!! I am re-wiring !!!!

Quick~! I am buying a Z car tonight G35 or a 350z
Dudeboy replied to 240ZR's topic in Non Tech Board
1. Buy a home, if you already have a home buy a 2nd home, condo some type of investment property. (duplex, triplex) 2. If you absolutely have the urge to buy a car, is this going to be a daily driver or weekend cruiser ??? Don't rush your purchase, test drive and take your time and sleep on it. 3. Forget both the 350Z and G35 -I am partial to CORVETTES !!!! -
240z 4 lug to chevy 5 lug?
Dudeboy replied to wickiewicked240z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Go to http://www.skulte.com if you want to run a 4(Datsun)lug to 5 (GM) lug 2-piece adapters. There are good adapters and bad ones (type of material, correct measurements of hub/backspace/offset, and install success and failure (torgue specs). Do some research on wheel adapters, when done right your wheel choices are endless and a lesser cost than converting your hubs to 5 lug. Give Skulte a call and tell them what you have and what you want. These are custom made to fit, so price may be higher $$$$ Good Luck -
This site has saved me some sleepless nights !!!! We want even talk about the driveshaft removal !!!! Donation made. Thanks, Glenn A. (Engine bay is stripped, ready for primer, paint and a engine)

Great looking cars !!!!!SR240Z, I notice the white z in your signature, I LIKE IT !!!!! My only question is what size wheels and tires are you running and the offset/backspace.Please shoot me a PM, not trying to steal this thread. Thanks.

Stepping away from your project for whatever the amount time you need may be the best thing. Sometimes when you begin to be less motivated, some guys start thinking about selling there projects !!! You can not stay away too long and the same thing happens. I could easily be un-motivated -I have 2004 C5 that is hell on wheels, but I can't wait for Saturday's to come so I can work on the Z !!!!You can buy it, but there is nothing that compares to building it yourself.

Best looking z car??!!
Dudeboy replied to jacob300zx's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I think that car belongs to a member on this site. I think his name is "Gnosez" and here is a website with a front view of the car: http://www.baddogparts.com/index.htm He could chime in with more accurate information. -
Thanks DaleMX, I will PM you when I get elbows and knee deep into the swap. I will take a look at the Compaqs and HP (used / Ebay). It has been almost year since worked on the Z, next weekend engine and tranny will be ready to be pulled !!!!!! Deja, I will post my progress with the paddle shifters ( cost for parts and pros/cons). From the research and what my buddy has on his set-up it is very slick !!!!!!!

Finally teardown starts this weekend !!!!! I hate that I will miss SEZ this time, hopefully I will be driving the Z to the next event. For those members who have swapped a LSX into there Zs', what laptops are you using? I will be swapping LS1/4L60 E and I am really considering the paddle shifters from twist machine and the TCI transmission controller. I know what the minimum pc requirements are for the transmission controller, but I need to know the minimum pc requirements for programming the LS1 motor? I am shopping for a middle of the road laptop new or used that will be for the Z only. Thank you It is finally happening yipppeee !!!!

The silver Z is very nice !!!! The IMSA z for sale has to be el240z's car. The Detomaso Pantera owners who do not upgrade to 17 inch wheel and tires would kill for those Yokohama AVS tires !!!!!

Congrats on the C5 purchase, also I notice you said WIFE and not fiancee'!!Congratulations !!! You have PM. http://www.lgmracing.com/ Go to Misc Videos 2004 Drag Pass "You want need gold chains" A racing suit maybe !!!

Dudeboy replied to Pop N Wood's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
PoP N Wood, If no one chimes in with a custom fabrication, I know Street and Performance should have what you need. You may have to spend a couple of $$$$$. -
Nice Pics !! Not to hijack your post wigenOut-S30- my apologies, Hey Scottie here is a link I have on the competition hood scoop. This is Carl Becks article at ZHOME http://zhome.com/History/ComHood.htm

Take a look at image wheels in the UK. They can make a wheel that has the appearance of Panasports in whatever size, offset, bolt pattern or backspace you want. The RM1 wheel:http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/pages/wheels_cast.html

Racerx said: "p.s. Fred, what happened to flares that were removed? They looked nice! Were they destroyed upon removal or can they be salvaged and used for molds? Would you have pics of the removed flares please? Thanks!" I was wondering the same thing ???? The flares removed from that car would work for me !!!!!

If this is the IMSA wide body kit (Bob Sharp Racing 1977 280 Z type flares), I am interested.

Carb'd LS2 - 240Z on the way!
Dudeboy replied to Pop N Wood's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I talked to a Corvette buddy today (carbed LS1/4L60 E in a 94 Camaro), Don is utilizing a Barry Grant 850 Demon Carburetor. His drivetrain came out of a 2000 Camaro- and he did the cam and different valve springs. He is still playing with different MSD modules, and right now he says it is running lean and trying to figure out the primary and secondary settings. -
Carb'd LS2 - 240Z on the way!
Dudeboy replied to Pop N Wood's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Pop N Wood, Congratulations !!! A few folks have negative comments about carbed LSX motors, but I like IT !!! I picked a GMPP catalog and saw that combo and it caught my eye. Also, I have been reading your thread about a LSX/TKO combo- I am trying to find my Hot-Rod or HotRodding Magazine, but there is a 69 Camaro utilizing MCcleod parts to make it work. I was reading on LS1tech several months ago, and a I guy in Great Britain is in process of a LS1/TKO swap ( I can not remember the car he was working on) but he also referenced MCcleod providing the parts to make the combo work. Please keep us posted, again great motor and Congrats. -
??? Fair Price For Low Mile LS1... & T56 ???
Dudeboy replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I tried LSI 1 as a search on ebay, and this is what I found from Pick_a_part: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-GTO-LS2-LS1-LS6-engine-w-6-speed-trans-5K-MILES-NR_W0QQitemZ8074938948QQcategoryZ33615QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem -
anybody know what wheels these are?
Dudeboy replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Mike, They could possibly be Cromodora? (spelling) first generation Gotti wheels or a Compomotive wheel, but I have never seen the inner wheel with such a deep angle to the outer lip on the Compomotive wheel. -

Dudeboy replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I am in agreement with Pop N Wood, -I have been watching F-parts ebay store for over a year and the prices are rising. There is another ebay store by the name of Pickapart ? and they from time to time have complete drivetrains on site. One of the things I have learned from this site is to not rush, I have passed on 3 deals and I am now noticing the GTO salvage vehicles being listed, and sadly for the owner but great for hot rodders you might get a good deal. Also, FYI check with your local Corvette performance shops -Some C5 owners are unloading OE motors for 427 engines.
