  1. looking good so far... I want fender flares on my zx...maybe i'll build some one day
  2. i have a good 81 ignitor if you want it... I converted to megasquirt and am using a gm hei module for an ignitor...
  3. from a post I made a while ago when I was doing my KA tranny swap, the part numbers on the trans I'm talking about are ZL 71B #5... I'd be willing to let go of it, if you are interested, but I'm not really sure what kind of shape it is in. I took the covers off to look at it, and it looked okay. No chipped gears or anything. It's been outside for a while now with the case still split, so it's probably a little rusty on the inside.
  4. FJ20.com 4 banger nissan used in early skylines, s12's, among other cars...? perhaps i should have said "an FJ20 tranny"
  5. I have a tranny...i think it's an FJ20... bellhousings are the same as the KA, and the tranny is quite a few inches shorter...probably 6-8"

    PP bolts

That's what I was thinking, but I thought maybe grade 10 would be better. Also, does anyone know where I can get replacement dowell pins? The guys had to tear them up pretty bad to get them out to resurface. Would it be worth my time to paint the flywheel after I get all the rust cleaned off of it? (not the friction surface, of course)

    XTD clutch?

The pressure plate has BK on a shield with 'wings' stamped on it. Kinda looks like a pilot's wing like they wear on their uniforms... It does appear to have been painted rather hastily, but other than that, it looks solid. The clutch plate looks to be put together well. There are no markings other than the XTD sticker. Anyone know the origin of the pp?

    PP bolts

I just got a 240mm flywheel to use with my new clutch, but I don't have any pp bolts for it. What grade bolt should I use? (for some reason, my old flywheel was the 225mm one...)
  9. every post mentioning paint and urethane that i've ever seen usually indicates that you should use some sort of flex additive to prevent cracking...better safe than sorry in this respect, i would think
  10. hmm... I think I'd try some gear oil... ATF is pretty thin stuff... Did you notice any scoring of roughness on the input shaft when you were replacing the seal? It could be eating them if something like that is present.
  11. I have a kawasaki motorcycle who's engine has a 10.8:1 compression ratio, and the owners manual says to run 87 octane. I was wondering how this works when we have to have premium to run much lower compression than that. They must have an awesome combustion chamber design in these motors.
  12. That doesn't really look like an LSD that I've ever seen. Maybe a locker? I've never seen a locker, though, so I don't really know....
  13. i want one...but for $1100....maybe if i win the lottery...
  14. i had the same problem on my install. On my front case, there was another boss for the sensor to mount in that would have put it in the right spot. I didnt want to take it all back apart to drill and tap it though... As far as short shifters go, I don't really know... I just shortened the stock one a little...I know it's not the same as having a real short shifter...but it kinda works
  15. my idle runs around 15:1 just fine...
  16. just a side note, the ridges in the piston could cause some pre-ignition if you try to do anything fancy with the motor while that piston is still in there... I'm sure you've already thought of this...just thought I'd make sure
  17. where i live, there are no emissions tests...and i don't have a cat...hehe
  18. i can't see a reason why you couldn't, as long as the flow rating of the low psi pump exceeded the flow rating of the high psi pump by a good bit...i think i'd want a bit more than 3gph seperating the two... I'm far from an expert in these matters, though.
  19. you definitely need the main board and stimulater (unless you know someone who would let you borrow a stimulator). The relay board is optional, but it does make things a bit cleaner to install.

    XTD clutch?

i ordered one of these...so i guess i'll be able to tell you all how it turns out....
  21. tony, which version of megasquirt are you using?
  22. it is definitely a lot to take in at once, but don't give up... Just keep reading about how the stuff works, and don't make it more complicated than it is.
  23. i think this is what they refer to as the 'next cylinder' setup...maybe i did this not knowing...lol
  24. Unfortunately, I don't have one of the total advance timing lights...I opted for the cheaper one...lol And I'm pretty sure that I've been reading my timing by the correct mark
