I will be keeping my eye on this thread...in the process of doing a Lq4 conversion and restomod on my 73 Datsun. In the chassis phase right now will do that suspension and then engine and drivetrain. Unfortunately I know next to nothing about the LQ4 or LS so a bit of learning is happening.

Ah excellent thank you for the information

Hate to bring up old posts but found this while googling other day....does anyone know the offset and tire sizes that were used on this CCW setup? Looking to get a set for my Z and like the fitment of these.
-
Very impressive build. Can only imagine how much this is costing you. Definitely giving me ideas and information I will use in my build once it starts.
-
Thank you this is the kind of information I need to know Thanks again that GTRX3582 just made the list lol Do you guys know if there is anyone out there that makes a complete kit used on a 2JZ?
-
Thanks man..Been some time since I have been on here I have been trying very hard to be patient and complete the build as I have planned starting with all the chassis reinforcements. Having a guy come out tomorrow actually and inspect everything. Will probably end up getting some parts from Bad Dog and having some work done no matter what the condition and also have been thinking of experimenting with Handi-foam. Have been hearing alot of mixed things about it but think it shows some promise Far as the power I still plan on doing a bigger single setup but will "learn" the car in the stock configuration 2j whatever first then add from there. Hoping to hear good news tomorrow and get her reinforced and painted in the next 2 months.

Very nice. I hope to get my project there one day

Wow this is pretty freaky... my name is Eric also and I have a 73 240Z that I want to put a 2JZ into. Keep us posted on the build and how it goes Im sure ill be referencing it one day int the future when I finally get heavy into my project.

Actually I have considered all of that but didnt think it would be really relevant to start posting about suspension, chassis, bakes etc etc in a engine thread....but yes all that has been considered and planned for already. Information im hunting down now is more about the wiring then anything. Also just because I want the car to have 500whp doesnt mean ill be running around everyday at 500whp I ust want that potential to be there if I call on it...same reason I choose the 2J. If one day I want to go more power I can or less for that matter with minimum amount of modification. Also is my reasoning behind going for the larger higher spooling turbos, I would like one that begins spooling hard about mid rpm band so that there is less chance of losing control on public roads unless I mean to get into boost. Since on the road course etc you are usually high in the rpm band through most of the gears there will be little need for a really fast spooling turbo in my opinion.

Looks good man good job

Oh yeah very nice. Let me know the price for the CF variation I'm definately all in for this tail. -
Sorry about that......... Car is looking great man Have you noticed any issues with the stock wiring at all? I read somewhere that some of the lighting wiring isnt that great and have been looking at some of the wiring upgrades over at The Z store...but am not sure if they are really necessary.

Glad to hear you are back bro What gearing are you running? and why do you have to get a fiberglass hood? What are your new impressions of the .58? I know you said that the other was too hard to drive on the streets tho fast, but what are your driving impressions of this one? How and where is the spool when the real power kicks in?
-
Idk why you couldnt but dont know exactly think most you find just come with autos....not sure because I already have the R154 so only really looked into how to mate it to the JZ and throw it in the S30.

Im not real familiar with the whole seq setup but just happen to get the july Import tuner today in the mail and was reading a article about a 1022whp twin Supra, and in the article something they mentioned was this........ http://www.spracingonline.com/projects/“http://www.spracingonline.com/store/Sound_Performance_Spool_Valve/3643†not sure how it works completely when used with the stock seq setup but was wondering if this may help with the problem you mentioned but was a interesting lil product esp since ill be doing a full custom exhaust as it is...not sure if you guys have any experiance with these. You can use the R154 (5-spd) it is from the 7M-GTE Supra but can be used on a JZ series with a bellhousing and a 7M clutch and JZ flywheel i believe...all of which you can find over at Driftmotion.com as well if you check the 1jz/2jz swap section.

NP with the info Jake I'm pretty new here too, but like was said there is no best engine....all three will give you more then enough power unless you are trying for like 1000hp or something then id say a 2JZ. but far as me I choose the 2JZ since it wasnt that much, I have a 1JZ laying around that is all tore up and missing parts and after pricing replacing all those parts etc I figured i might as well just buy a complete 2JZ. Hey are those graphs of all single turbo 2JZs? Looks like it....tghink most the STOCK 2JZ graphs i have seen have power spooling early with a drop off around 3500 then climbing steady again.
-
From what I have been gathering (researching the swap as well (2JZ)) there isnt much difference between doing the 1j/2j swap they are very similiar and alot of the parts are interchangeable. Far as the swap itself there are a few of them on here in the Toyota L6 section.....just check them out and the pinned info soon as you enter the section. I have no idea of the cost diff. between the 3 engines really well def not the RB but the 1j/2j differ around $500-1000 depending on where you look. Far as where to get a relaible one not to sure as I have yet to get mine but Driftmotion.com and Titan Motorsports both sell them and are mentioned alot through alot of Supra forums. Hope this helps some.

ZCC - Custom Tail Project (Rear Spoiler)

Excellent keep us posted -
She is coming along great man and sounds like a beast lol ill def be bombing you with questions here and there once I start the big swap. Nice work!!
-
Sweet deal man thats pretty good....how much whp are you putting down with the RB?
-
Yeah was ref more to the circuit....its hard to call cuz I def want to go with a 2JZ...so I think ima take it in steps....first just get use to the L26 in it now and how the car "feels" then drop in a stock twin turbo 2JZ and feel that out for awhile and if I think i want more I can either do the big single.....or go with a upgraded twin setup that uses two GT28s So ill take it slow. If i wasnt a hardcore Toyota lover id just beast up the L26 and this and that and call it good.
-
Thanks man Payment sent and thread can be closed!!!!! Thanks everybody.
-
No that is not it maybe Im calling it the wrong thing.....I mean the plastic part that goes around that and encloses the rod and wiring for the ignition etc etc.. It was there in the pics when I bought the car but am being told that it is not on the car now. (still havent seen my purchase in person, in Afghanistan still)
