  3. My radiator finally has a crack in it. No Radiator Shop in Nelson has anything that is compatable. Aparently the radiator in my car is a real oddball....and has a weird mounting setup. What will fit into the hr30 with a l20et? Anyone know, i'm in serious need of advice here. Regards, George
  4. Hey all. Weird question I have. But i need some help. I have a 83 Skyline with a L20et in it currently and a Auto Gearbox. I always have overdrive on as it feels smoother. But over drive doesnt seem to be activated the engine reaches a certain operating temperature (the overdrive button is always on). It used to be ok because my temp would get up to about half on the gauge and jsut under half was when the overdrive kicked in and did its thing. But now i'm using WaterWetter in my radiator (after lots of overheating problems using Glycon) and my Temperature is nice and low sitting just over 1/4 on the gauge. But therefore my overdrive doesnt seem to be working. Anyone seen this problem before? Can I adjust the overdrives activation somehow so it comes on at lower a lower engine temp? Regards, George

  7. My L20ET motor is having some issues with overheating and i'm done some damage. Last night after driving for 80km everything was fine, then all of a sudden the temperature shot up just under hot. I was home so i turned the car off and i heard boiling and all this weird hissing noise. I popped bonnet, and there was steam coming out between the head and block on cyl number six (on side of engine that the turbo isnt on...). I figured there wasn't much i could do. I've located a well running L28E out of a 280z (the guy is wrecking the whole thing ). I'm either going to fix the L20ET or get the L28E for the mean time until I have enough money to get a FJ, RB or VH. Is it possible to use the L20ET turbo gear on the L28E? What do you guys recommendi do?. I can't afford much at the moment. I'm still driving my car because it doesnt even seem to be getting that hot as im staying right off the boost at the moment...I put some F2 over where the steam was pissing out.

  11. im putting a rb20det ic on a l20et soon. just waiting on getting the piing sorted out. hopefully it'll perform better than it does at the moment with no intercooler.
  12. I've never seen one like that either, I actually thought it was a bov that had been mounted in the pop off valve placing for a second.

  14. well i sold the sr20det intercooler today for twice as much as i paid for it so I could afford to get piping done on the rb20det intercooler. i wasnt really after a power gain just a better take off response which apparently this upgrade will help with. plus i have a bov on the way which should help things out a little bit too

  16. Hey guys. Since I replaced my headgasket (cooked my other one in nov/dec) the needle on my temp gauge goes right up to the top of the gauge as soon as the key is put in and turned to acc. Its annoying as I dont know how hot/cold my engine is really running. I'm assuming theres something wrong with the thermostat but I'm not too sure what or if that is the problem. Anyone got any ideas? George

  19. i just won a bov off a 93 gsr with a 4g93t engine *blushes* it was only NZ$20 on http://www.trademe.co.nz and I really want a bov so its better than nothing, and the GSR ones sound alright!

  21. At the moment I have two facotry intercoolers that i got off a new zealand auction website (http://www.trademe.co.nz). What one would you guys recommend putting onto my L20et? It has no intercooler at the moment so Ill need to do some plumbing too (what do I use? Mandrel Bent Pipes?) also how do i set it up. Does anyone have pics or diagrams of intercooler setups on L series motors? Thanks, George

I pretty much have it sorted I think, was just reading some install instructions at http://www.boostvalve.com/tech/IC_install.html Plus the pics in "slownrusty" post http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=94973 pretty much explain that it goes into the vale above the idle control screw. On my engine presently there is no hose running into there. What hose goes on that valve when they come out from the factory?
  23. Yasin, for that B.O.V. installation, ive been wondering for a while on my car where the hose on the top of the bov is supposed to go (dont have a bov yet getting one soon). Is the hose going into the thing above the idle control screw? I know its it the pic and quite visible but I jsut want to confirm. Also what is involved with removing the EGR valve? Was it a simple task, also its possible to just weld up the pop off valve isnt it? I cant wait to get a intercooler, i hate that sound of a dying dog when the pop off valve comes on, lol. Sounds bloody hideous. Any chance of you recording a sound clip of the sound the SSQ BOV, im really curios as to wat is sounds like on a l series motor. Was it a mission to get that BOV welded on too?
