  1. Newbie is back with another thread: I have been researching and reading and talking to a few people and still I don't know the truth! Two good threads I found here were these: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=128001&highlight=oil+pump&page=2 & http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=150165&highlight=oil+pump So where is my problem? From what I understand the standard L6 oil pump and Turbo oil pump (auto) are the same except for shaft length and springs.I always thought the auto turbo pump came with one of the Nissan Comp oil springs. So basically, stock pumps came with stock springs....turbo manually pump comes with?......turbo auto pump is one Nissan comp spring and longer shaft? My problem is, I have a set of Nissan comp oil pump springs....so do I just try and find an auto turbo oil pump used, try to find one new and hope I do not get a manual one (rockauto and such have them listed as the same part), order a turbo oil pump and just swap out to my two springs or spent the money and buy http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PRC16/17-8032 because it already has the "Comp springs" and longer "shaft"...which I can not verify. This oil pump is for my 3 liter build and I am just going through threads about oil pressure at idle and during load. Thanks for any input guyz.
  2. Stock body lines....WOW factor with color. If I can find more pics of the 370z then it might help me make up my mind.
  3. Ok, sold a few parts from this car so we are getting closer. The entire drivetrain will be pulled this week and sent off to its new home. Funny the closer I get to having the painter come pick her up....the more I don't know what color I want. I would like this color but Joe just painted his car this color: Silver is nice but there are a million silver s30's already: Maybe the 370z color but no very sold on it: Or stock 280z blue: Or something in the brown family. I have to do more thinking over the next week or so. Colors I know I don't want for sure...red, white, yellow, black or green. Gotta keep in mind these wheels are going back on whatever color I go with:
  4. I checked a few months ago and you still can buy the Nissan Comp pan and gasket...$$$$$$
  5. I have a set of fender and pillar emblems...metal from a 6/70 car. They need to be restored. I can shoot pics for you.....thinking $50 shipped.
  6. I wish, I am learning like most others. I will update my own thread once I get close to ordering parts. Like you said, I am sizing my turbo, piping and tb based on the intake I am going to run. Peter, take sometime out to read through some old threads, Also come up with your "goals" if you are keeping your hp in mind. There are plenty of guys here with setups you can copy or learn from. When I get some good calculations and site, I will post them up here and on my thread.
  7. I am going to watch this thread as I am reading through some older threads to see where I am going to go on my 3 liter turbo build. I am also looking at turbo maps to help me plan my attack.
  8. Ok, here is a 2/70 tank. Note the ONE vent line on the tank. Pulled from my 1970 car. Also notice my car came with no vapor tank in the rear quarter: No vapor tank:
  9. See extra items for sale: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=159368
  10. I just noticed the gas tank. Love your car build. Can't wait for vids and new pics.
  11. 315. I def want a set of Rotas for track use.
  12. Nice, I am thinking of a 04-05 sti later this year. I am not leaving the northeast for at least another 10 yrs...lol
  13. Glad to hear you are getting excellent customer service.
  14. Yeah, there are fairlady/euro style lights for the 260/280.
  15. Is this car a 240 or 260/280?
  16. Give me a call, I am working on picking up a new parts car.....an early 260z. Clive
  17. Whn you saw worn, you mean the units coming out of S series models? I don't think many vlsd units coming out of any q45 cars are beat Who drives a 4 door v8 car hard? lol
  18. I am a newbie so I don't think I can drive at 10/10s to even begin to notice the inside wheel spinning while @ the track. I am aware of the VLSD basically becoming an open diff he heated to the right temp....the right temp? I am not sure what that is. I remember reading...sorry for lack of name right now...but the guy who did the q45 v8 into his Z...he had to put a line cooler on the diff because he was getting the diff to hot. I would like to hear from some of the other guys here who road race or do HPDE with the q45 diff. I know the vlsd is quieter, not as notchy and cheaper to find and replace...reasons why I went with it. I drove Joe's (rags) ls1 car with the clsd and so far I have not noticed a difference. I really can't make a 100% comparison because I didn't drive his car as hard as I would mine own @ the track.
  19. Looking forward to pics of the new setup.
  20. You have a true series 1 car.....not at 71 model. Your vin isn't late enough to be titled as a 71. You have listed all parts unique to a series 1 car. I have a 2/70 car I am stripping right now. I also just parted out a 6/70 car. Just figure out why it is titled as a 71. Also at some point someone change the pillar emblems. They can not be swapped out for one another...so the holes were moved...hmmm. Nice looking car anyway!
  21. The blue car is now in LI, NY and the new owner is here on this site too. Pete, pm sent.
